Mate, this video was great! I've held off sending to CGC through fear they would be rejected. I'm in the UK so it's a lot of effort sending them. This is the best cgc video I've ever seen.

This was excellent. I learned so much about grading in this 1 recording than in the last 10 years. I didn't completely understand how cgc determined a book is a 9.8 'til now. Thanks for putting this one out.

This was an amazingly helpful video. I havent collected comics since my teen years in the 90s (only purchasing trades now and then) and have started to get back into collecting, so this is a new world for me and really helps me understand what to look for. Thank you!

Great info and loved that you showed examples of the defects!

I still feel there’s some inconsistency with the grading. I’ve sent in books that get 9.2, 9.4 and 9.6 with what you’ve shown as 9.8s. Looking at the graders notes, there was hardly anything letting me know why this received the grades they got. So it’s really hard to understand what’s correct and what’s not.

As someone will be submitting to cgc fir the first time this is very helpful in selecting the books I will send. Thanks!

You took good time and care on the details, which is commendable. I used to submit sports cards to PSA, SGC, and BGS decades ago. You are correct on declaring the subjectivity of the process. It does come down to the persons grading the item. I have a few 70's issues I plan on submitting to CGC, but simply for keeping in my personal collection. I'm gladly subbing to your channel. Please do continue to focus on the truths of the industry...and the fun it does bring to you and us.

Great rundown video. The subjective nature of grading is tough but you definitely help make it a little more scientific. Like many, I've had 9.8s that look like 10.0s in every way. Maybe someday I'll get a 9.9 or 10.

This was the video I was looking for! I have some popular books that have binary tears and I thought it was a deal breaker, but turns out it's still possible to get a 9.8!

I’ve got a ASM 300 with less color rub than that and it was cited as the reason for it being a 9.6 no ticks or anything. Absolutely perfect.

As I learn more about what is allowable and/or not. I have come to realize that the final deciding factor if the HF(human factor). We can send in what we believe is a perfect book, but it will all depend on the individual grader. Good Luck.

I feel better now about my spine rub books. I was noticing it a lot with DC comics that I’ve been reading from 2010 (yeah I’m a little behind in my reading) especially with card stock covers. Now I won’t feel so sad - it was starting to bother me even knowing that I would never submit these filler books for grading.

This is a great video. I haven't been sending comic with binding tears because I thought they would be backed pretty hard tho last few years of comics they all seem to have them.

I have seen 9.8s that are not centered, have a lot of spin tics, have binding that is misaligned and yet I can find a 9.6 that has no evidence of this. At the end I'm gonna buy the 9.6, it's half the price and looks better
