Allman Brothers Band Rehearsals, Gatlinburg, TN 1971 (Part 2)

The is the 2nd part of the classic Gatlinburg Tapes.
The sound quality varies from good to poor quality but this is an essential recording for every fan of the original line up with Duane & Berry.

Dicky Betts has such a great sound. He brought some beautiful melodies to the music along with trading off the incredible jams with Duanne.

Wow! 'Blue Sky' in the making. Many times I wish I was a fly on the wall during creative sessions such as this. Interesting to hear Dickie working out the solos, this is a man hard at work at his craft.

That's what I was also in awe of. It's rare that we can hear the development of a great piece of work.

i've heard that about him too. I'm glad you got to see him. I'm in SE Asia and may never have the chance to see him play. Saw his Dad a couple times though.

I think it is My Favorite Things. Yes, from The Sound of Music, but inspired by John Coltrane's jazz sax version.

In the photo Greg is on guitar rather than perched at his organ...

Yes, that photo is after Duane died but Berry is still with us. Looks like Chuck Leavell on the keyboards/piano.

Duane 71' and Berry Oakley bass 72' died in vehicle accidents in Macon GA only 3 blocks and a year apart! i guess D.A. needed that rhythm backup in Heaven... and didn't like or want to be around Cher😆

Gregg didn't even meet Cher until years after Duane and Berry had died. A foolish statement.
