    Thank you very much for the video. It explains a lot for newbies who are utterly confused with these things. I saw two models of 32-bit audio interfaces on sales on Aliexpress going for £22.88-£83. I'm thinking of buying one of them or buy a second hand USB mixer which I think can be used for this purpose and it will have more functions like inputs, outputs, effects, tone control, etc.

    Great video with detail.... looking for the same video since long. I have ordered dayton audio UMM6 anf IMM6. Waiting for the delivery. You helped me in case how to use IMM6 with PC or Laptop. Thanks man.....keep doing. It will be great if you could make specific video on how to correct phase issues in home theatre setup like 5.1.4 with help of REW.

    Absolutely in love with your channel. And fresh recruit here. Have learned and relearned so much stuff here. All thanks to you. Love the quality of content and depth of knowledge. Since you have a helix dsp, can you please please please do a video on how to properly use the helix dsp auto eq feature. I admit that it may not be as powerful as the manual eq via REW but still if you can then please do shed some light on it. I have been using jazzis xl sheet to export house curves for helix rta recently to set the acoustic crossovers.

    excellent presentation. 31:04 w/ such high frequencies because of the small wavelengths, measurements can be super sensitive to positioning (even half a cm) and/or anything changing/moving in the environment, such as the user doing the testing..

    I have a UMIK-1 and a UMIK-2, and while I have no idea which one is actually more accurate, what I can say is the UMIK-2 measures 2-3dB lower than UMIK-1 above about 2kHz, and the resulting tune from using the 2 is a nicer sounding result.

  • @RAW-CAt

    Thank you for this content. For someone starting that's going to get IMM-6 for my first attempt at tuning, would you suggest adjusting the reference curve by 5db above 10k to compensate for the IMM-6 reading higher up there? I've seen several comparisons and that seems to be common for IMM-6. Curious if adjusting reference curve for that difference would make things more accurate?

  • @RAW-CAt

    @RAW-CAt

    The reference curve depends on personal preference. Try flat and see how you like it. If you feel that there are some top end missing, you can adjust the curve and try again.

    Love your channel man, awesome info and I thank you for it! Have my little imm-6 ready (tho will I need an adapter or can I use it in my laptop with an extension aux?), waiting for my musway dsp to come and to install it properly and start to tune this shitty focal fiberglass 2-way, hopes are slim to make it sound good (mid is midbass in the door... :( and the tweeter is aluminium sibilant one) but I would like it to stage properly and sound a bit better. Maybe will go to 3 way active next time something like focal flax evo (what are your thoughts about it?) I don't know, for now want to stay as stock as I can. And wait for my wife to calm down at my money pit waste for car audio haha. Anyways :)

    You can use the imm with an extemtion, but I would recommend getting a USB soundcard, you can get one of eBay for less than $10. Focal Flax are good speakers and will make you happy. But to he honest, don't discard cheap and simple speakers like you have now, with correct tuning, they can sound very decent and image well. Play with the tining and upgrade the speakers only when you can't squeze more out of these.

    Regarding the loopback on the audio interface, does a digital loopback work the same for impulse response measurement as the diy cable you showed? I have a Motu M2 and it has digital loopback (shows up as additional input device on Windows), my understanding is that the Scarlett doesn't have this feature.

    Yes, but the clock drift still is a problem. It's not an issue for a one off measurement, but when you have to measure 6-8 drivers multiple times, that clock drift scewes the timing.
