Hi nelle💖that was another interesting video,I was amazed at the things you had to help you,I have one of those shoes on my hearing aid! My hearing aids needed retubing & I had run out of tubing so the NHS sent me out more tubing but 5 days later it still not turned up,so I could use only one hearing aid! They asked if I needed new earmoulds as it's been at least 2yrs,when emailing back I decided to bite the bullet by asking about being referred to a London hospital for a cochlear implant assessment! I have not to lose now,I did an online word test by the cochlear brand, you put your hearing aids in & they read out 3 words & you have to spot the difference! The way a word is said, the first one I did I got 28% & the second a bit later where I scored 45% but if you could not tell the difference u pressed any button to go on so law of averages said I got some right by accident! The shock was a person with one implant scored 80% with the same test so I realised I need to try for an implant! It may take a year to be implanted in London! I have also just donated again to your 2nd implant as I see more than ever how a person needs two 💖💖💖

You have a lot of equipment! I used to use an FM system and found it very helpful. Thank you for the information.😊

You're very welcome. I'm very lucky to have access to all this equipment free thanks to where I live and my university. If you have any questions about any equipment, don't hesitate to ask. :)

Well damn. I have the cl 622 and a nucleus 8. I have a bone anchor on the right side but it doesn't work and insurance won't replace it. 😢 I will need to look into three fire alarm. I have roommates, but it is still a great idea. And I also used live transcribe when I was between hearing aids. It's helpful, but it says some of the worst things sometimes. 😅 Be well, have fun at university.

Hi, getting an accessible fire alarm is definitely a good idea. Even though I live with other people. Having a fire alarm that works for me means that my family can go out and leave me at home without needing to worry about any sort of risk. I hate feeling like I'm holding people back or like I need someone to look after me. Live Transcribe is great until it's not. Sometimes I'm shocked at how accurate it is, sometimes it's pretty impressively wrong. Nelle :)

Thank you very much for your answer. I was very worried about this, I was afraid that the sound would remain robotic. I myself notice that every day it becomes easier and easier to recognize sounds. Thanks a lot!!!@@nellefindlay

Love your videos ..i'm waiting for my BAHA op and currently have a band that i can use (think children are given them) and it's a world of screeching and batteries. My hearing aids don't really add much. Have you seen "The Sound of Metal" movie? Would love you to do a reaction video for that!

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy my videos. Good luck with your surgery. I've heard about the softband things for Bone conduction aids, I bet you're looking forward to a more permanent solution. I have actually see the Sound of Metal film, it came out around the time I lost my hearing. I definitely have some opinions on it. I would definitely do a reaction video, but I'm not sure what would be the best way to film it. Nelle :)

It really depends on the individual and their specific hearing loss and lifestyle. For specific recommendations, I would recommend discussing with a hearing care professional.

Hi, Nelle Question please So I have a Extreme hard time with tv, get togethers, ect and background noise . I have Phonak hearing aids. I need something please to help with clarity of the person speech. It drives me bananas. Please please help. I’m the same hard of hearing like you

  • @nellefindlay

So to help with background noise, what is usually recommended is an assistive listening device. Since you have Phonak hearing aids, the phonak roger devices might me something to look into. I have the phonak RogerOn which works really well with the TV and in social situations. It is definitely worth looking into something like that to help you. It's probably worth speaking to your audiologist to see what they recommend for you specifically because unless you can get it through a scheme, assistive listening devices are pretty expensive, so you'll want to make sure you get the right thing for you. Good Luck :)

@@christelhughes2942 Yes, I definitely hear a lot better if there isn't background noise. With background noise, I can't really hear so I mostly just rely on lip-reading.

Yes, So I got a new hearing aid around a year ago. I had the Phonak Naida hearing aids that I was using before my CI and now I use a CI in my right ear and have the Danalogic hearing aid in my other ear. I've had this new hearing aid for about a year and a half. :)
