Objectively the best review of Bride there has ever been and will ever be 🤣🤣 What a rollercoaster of a month! I am glad you found some new faves, but also sad that Dark Age was such a huge let down (which I was kinda afraid it would be for you). I still have hopes that Light Bringer will turn it back around for you, because I think Pierce really did good by taking a break and course correcting the series after book 5. Fingers crossed for you! 🥰

🤣 Hoots of laughter at the weather report scene in this episode 😂 It’s characters over plot for me, I am learning about myself late in life, so you have me worried about “Dark Age” now. I have yet to start reading “Red Rising”.

I love how organised you are. I'm almost not sure what I read and/or listened to this month. Like, was it June or May I did that one? Listened to Heroes by Joe Abercrombie - my least favourite of his so far. I did The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi, which was just ok, so was Spinning Silver. The Martian was terrific and so was Assassin's Apprentice. I'm still listening to Red Country, so it is probably counted as a July read. I tried to listen to A Twist of the Knife by Anthony Horowitz, but couldn't engage with it. I don't think I missed any. Oh, Jurassic Park was pretty good, too. 😂

I need to read more Pratchett. I read Mort a few years ago and loved it, but never read anything else. Currently procrastinating finishing The Shadow of What Was Lost. I've been enjoying it, but for some reason I'm afraid that the ending won't hold up to the crazy no one is who they seem fun of the story so far. If that makes any sense. I did pause the video to download a sample of Nomads. Thanks for a great roundup video for June. Looking forward to July - hopefully the 'weather' is great.

So mostly good reading for you Tori, with some bad weather thrown in also. Glad you are enjoying Terry Pratchett's Discworld, there are plenty for you to catch up on. I actually finished his last Discworld book this month also. I had a really good reading month in June and managed to get through quite a few books. I read 2 Judge Dredd comic books - The Complete Case Files 37 & 38 I also read 6 books: Kamusari Tales Told At Night - Shion Miura Last Summer Boys - Bill Rivers Memory And Dream - Charles De Lint The Shepherd’s Crown - Terry Pratchett Bridge To Terabithia - Katherine Paterson Flowers For Algernon - Daniel Keyes Book of the month for me was Memory And Dream (although it was a re-read) closely followed by Flowers For Algernon.

If you can’t say anything good, talk about the weather 😂🤪 Lol I’ve read a few books like that! Some of my favorite reads in June were Shadowplay, by Tad Williams; Mistborn (my first Cosmere read-through!); and Malice, by John Gwynne, which I thought was fun and engaging despite popular opinion lol

Dark Age is a miserable slog and the exemplar of "misery porn" IMO, but Light Bringer is incredible. It also returns to TGR only for audio like the original Trilogy.

As someone who already thought the original trilogy was full of convienences, you sure have sold me on Dark Age hahaha In June I read: *Historical-Fantasy* Children of Earth & Sky / Guy Gavriel Kay - Carried over from May. Loved it. A Brightness Long Ago / Guy Gavriel Kay - My new favourite Kay I've read so far, and a new favourite book of all-time! Book of the Month!!! All the Seas of the World / Guy Gavriel Kay - Pretty good. Glad I read this loose trilogy in publication order. I understand the lukewarm reviews and I seem to have liked it more than most, though my favourite parts were the tie-ins to ABLA, CoE&S and Lions of Al-Rassan. *Sci-Fi* Vorkosigan Saga 1: Shards of Honor - Definitely be continuing this series. *Southern Gothic* Child of God / Cormac McCarthy - It was fine, but really creepy at times. For now I NFNed Jonathan Maberry's Patient Zero and Christopher Ruocchio's Howling Dark. They're good, just not what I'm looking for right now. As for what I'm currently reading: *Historical-Fantasy* The Last Light of the Sun / Guy Gavriel Kay - Kay's re-imagining of the Viking invasions of King Alfred's England, its really good so far. *Sci-Fi* Cloud Atlas / David Mitchell - Still early days yet but I haven't a clue wtf is going on. *Thriller* Winter of Frankie Machine / Don Winslow - Really good so far.

I'm just listening to Dark Age for the second time now, working my way through the series again. I really enjoy the heavy political scifi stories and there are some really great 'BITS' in Dark Age but it feels like its filled with too much stuff. Almost like this books only purpose is to set up something that will happen in a later book. Form me I found Iron Gold to be the least interesting the first time I listened to it and Dark Age to be the better but this time round I found Iron Gold to be more captivating while Dark Age kind of drags on a bit.

ooff, sorry you hated (at least part of) the sequel to your favorite series. Interesting there's a perceptible dissenting view of it in your comments that is totally imperceptible in the goodreads ratings - in fact that swings sharply upward! Be informative to see where I land. I just found a copy of Morning Star so the original trilogy is complete on my self, and in light of this review I guess I'll not thrift anymore but finally read the 3, then get the sequel series from the library when Red God is out.
