All PBS Kids System Cues (1999-2012)

Фильм және анимация

Here, we see every single old school PBS Kids system cue that has aired during your childhood. Yes, EVERY, SINGLE, ONE!!! That I have found. Except for the P Pals (which were actually part of the regular PBS, not its kids block). The definition of a system cue (for PBS Kids in particular) is a 5 second ID that appears after the end or funding credits of a show, identifying the brand. By 2004, there were only SIX system cues (2 of them also had prototype versions airing back in 2003). Here is the list (and a description of each)!
Dash (1999) - This system cue starts off with an eye over a lime green background. It blinks, then a chorus of boys sings the iconic PBS Kids jingle. The camera zooms out to reveal Dash, a 7 year old boy, ready to think about something. Scratching his head with his left index finger for about 2 seconds, he thinks of an idea (by saying Doink). It is PBS Kids! He transitions into the iconic logo, set over a pink striped background.
Dot (1999) - This system cues start off with a girl in the distance over the same lime green background, but with white lines on the bottom. As a chorus of girls sings the iconic PBS Kids jingle, Dot runs up to the camera before smiling at the viewers, grasping the screen with her hands. She then transitions into the iconic logo over a multi colored striped background.
Dash Transformation (2000) - In this system cue, Dash is at first a caveman, then a scuba diver, and finally a robot! He grabs the letters before the logo is shown on a purple background.
Dot Transformation (2000) - In this system cue, Dot is at first a tiger, then an octopus, and lastly an astronaut. The logo appears behind beautiful star background!
Snowglobe (2002) - Dash is ice skating on a frozen pond. All of a sudden, the ground shakes and he stops. As the camera zooms out, it is revealed that he is in a snowglobe, held by Dot! She laughs before the logo is shown over snowing background.
Fishbowl (2002) - Dash observes his pet fish, before turning into the fish himself in his imagination! As he blubs in the water, Dot (as a fish too) EATS him up! The logo appears inside the fishbowl with bubbles behind it.
3 EXTREMELY rare system cues have aired during Big Big Friend Day, and here they were.
Sports (2005)
Wrapping Paper (2005)
Sandcastles (2005)
Then comes the preschool block system cues from 2006, and I have finally found the Beehive one (with sound) from a PBS Kids Program Break video. VERY rare! :O
And lastly, there were the Dash and Dot activities system cues from 2008 (as part of a MINOR rebrand). These ones have our beloved mascots do different activities, and the logo sometimes reacts to what's going on!
You ever think back to when PBS Kids was actually a GOOD block? In the 2000s?! Of course you do, because PBS Kids since about 2012 has been total crap (it's all thanks to stupid Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, a show I HATE so much because of the whiny main character)! The rebrand in 2013 (when Dee and Del were introduced for no reason, and Dot got older) has totally killed my childhood (and many others as well, I believe). The same thing applies to the ORIGINAL PBS Kids Channel, which has existed back in the early 2000s (2000-2004). So, why not you look at this video on the KZread TIME MACHINE and talk about these GREAT IDs that have once appeared on your TV screen!? I think about the golden era of PBS Kids all the time (which, was the early 2000s when I was just a little boy; I was born in 1999). Back in 2000-2004, you had QUALITY shows like classic Arthur, Dragon Tales, Between the Lions, Zoboomafoo, Thomas and Friends, Liberty's Kids, the original Teletubbies and Clifford the Big Red Dog. The original bumpers, station IDs and system cues for PBS Kids were totally awesome to watch! They actually transported me into a very strange but cartoonish world from the comfort of my own living room, or inside a waiting room at the children's hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Now I absolutely don't care (as PBS Kids has gone downhill big time since AT LEAST 2005, but 2012 was the year it really died), as a currently 24 year old depressed male.
Enjoy the nostalgia, and here's two petitions you can sign to RESTORE PBS Kids back to the 2000s/early 2010s.
Bring back the old PBS Kids logo (with Dash)!!!
www.change.org/p/bring-back-t...
This logo change happened back in 2022 and I am SO pissed off about it! The new PBS Kids logo is an atrocity, with bland color scheme and NO kid inside. The old one actually represented what PBS Kids WAS. A TV block for kids to learn, grow, and best of all, HAVE FUN. As well as a separate 24/7 TV channel (running from 1999-2005)! The new logo is on the new PBS Kids channel as well (2017-present).
Bring Back Classic PBS Kids Shows

Your favorite shows are either gone or occasionally air. Sign THIS petition to restore them to your local PBS station for good!

I hope you guys loved the remake of this compilation of NOSTALGIC system cues from the one and only PBS Kids! Previously, there were 2 SEPARATE compilations of system cues for PBS Kids. Now here's ALL of them! In 1 video. Plus the audio for the now defunct PBS Kids Preschool Block Beehive system cue has FINALLY BEEN FOUND by me! Yes, that's true. The original did NOT have sound! Again, the modern 2013-2022 system cues have not been featured in a compilation as they already exist thanks to OTHER users. I still prefer the old ones, BTW! But anyways, I miss the old school PBS Kids so much guys! I was born the SAME year it came out (1999) and back then, it was AMAZING! Just randomly tuning in to it at home, or watching it on a TV at the children's hospital in Boston, Massachusetts (back when it looked SO Frutiger Aero aesthetically and had 1 or 2 George Rhoads ball machines to watch) during or after a checkup with my pediatrician! Hit so different as a kid in the 00s. In fact, the 2000s were its FIRST decade and nearly everything was lit! You HAVE seen all these famous system cues, plus the additional bumpers and station IDs which were VERY interesting to watch. I grew up with WGBH Boston! It had so many iconic shows including Cyberchase, the original Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George, Dragon Tales, Arthur, WordGirl, Fetch! With Ruff Ruffman and much more. These shows actually focused MORE on education rather than entertainment. You also remember them iconic funding credits after each show was over?! They kept you GLUED to the screen. The 2010s were its second decade and PBS Kids back then was just okay. At first, I could NOT get used to Dee and Del replacing Dash, as well as the older version of Dot but I eventually got used to them (and Dash still LIVED in the logo at least). Shows then were okay, but I don't know many outside of a few including THE Wild Kratts. In the 2020s (the 3rd decade for PBS Kids) EVERYTHING has truly went downhill! The iconic logo was CHANGED to remove Dash, and the newer shows SUCK. Elinor Wonders Why, Donkey Hodie, Rosie's Rules, etc. Plus the new system cues, bumpers and station IDs STINK! They just look generic and uninteresting, much like some Target commercials made in this particular flat style. Also too bright with the colors! They do NOT transport you into another world anymore just as ALL the old system cues with the original logo from 1999 to 2022 did! Please guys, SIGN those petitions in the description to restore the original PBS Kids logo and the older shows! Save our childhoods. And bring back 2000s/2010s nostalgia for PBS Kids! Please, I beg of you. Me sad!!! :(

Yeah Verica, me too! The new PBS Kids is a disgrace. Especially since 2022 when the logo was changed! I miss that, plus Noggin, Playhouse Disney, Qubo AND of course Sprout. Which was ONCE owned by PBS Kids! What childhood TV channels are even LEFT nowadays besides the PBS Kids?! 2000s PBS was amazing, and the 2010s PBS was pretty good (I got used to Dee and Del after some time has passed back in 2013). The 2020s PBS is absolute shit! I totally quit watching it in like 2020.

Me too! This is why I had to make this video featuring ALL the old PBS Kids system cues before 2013 (the ones FROM 2013 already exist on other KZread channels and they're just okay to me). So that the folks working at YOUR local PBS station can totally think about restoring the original logo (with Dash), plus a majority of the old 2000s and 2010s shows for good! I grew up with WGBH Boston, and it was really good. I loved the block and most the programming and bumpers on it! But their iconic funding plug from 2000 (taken off in 2009) really stuck to me the most with the animated simplistic drawings of kids and the sponsors displayed on the screen in a bright colorful atmosphere as a calm sounding man would say this, "This program is funded in part by a Ready to Learn Grant, from the U.S. Department of Education, through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting." whilst a catchy techno tune would play in the background. This particular version was mainly for Dragon Tales, one of my favorite childhood shows! :(

@@TMJRedux1999 Well, you know something? Even though I do miss the old PBS kids with the first 6 system cues from 1999-2008, at least I have DVDs featuring each of the original 6 system cues on them. I have 5 DVDs with the 1999 Dash system cue, 25 with the 1999 Dot system cue, 27 with the 2000 Dash Transformation system cue, 11 with the 2000 Dot Transformation system cue, 2 with the 2002 Fishbowl system cue, and 1 with the 2002 Snowglobe system cue.

Oh my god, me too! The old PBS Kids (particularly from the 2000s when I was a kid myself) was actually so awesome. I especially miss Dash, our beloved green boy. Greed has FIRED this host in like 2013 but surprisingly has kept Dot (his younger sis). This time though, she is now older and has to watch over 2 new kids named Dee and Del, who are alright in my opinion! Thankfully, Dash was kept in the logo UNTIL 2022. Where NOW his last trace has been erased from existence! This is PBS Kids, a block and channel made FOR kids. And thus, it should have actual fun, creativity and imagination put into it! The new logo is boring and lacks that. Oversimplification of logos strikes again LM! This shit all started with the iconic Pringles man back in 2020. I still CAN'T bear to see that logo in Market Basket! :( Glad you like this video. I'm sure that you have seen AT LEAST some of these system cues on your local PBS station and can actually remember them! As nowadays, they are INCREDIBLY hard to find on live TV. And BTW, the PBS Kids system cues from 2008-2013 ARE actually featured in this video! To me, they are almost as good as the original 6 from 1999 to the early 2000s. Too bad that I used to be quite scared of them when I was little, especially the one when Dot was running up to the camera cha cha cha ing. As a kid, I thought she would come out of my TV screen and unexpectedly drag me in! :(

Why thank you Messi! I'm proud I remade this video to include ALL of the PBS Kids system cues (including the 2006 preschool beehive one WITH sound). I also made sure to include the CORRECT years each system cue came out cause some people marked the years WRONG. Including Mason Wrigley! A PBS obsessed KZreadr who watched my og versions! I'm pretty sure that the correct times each of them ran were... Dash (September 6th, 1999 - August 31st, 2008) Dot (September 6th, 1999 - August 31st, 2008) Dash Transformation (September 4th, 2000 - August 31st, 2008) Dot Transformation (September 4th, 2000 - August 31st, 2008) Snowglobe (January 21st, 2002 - August 31st, 2008) Fishbowl (January 21st, 2002 - August 31st, 2008) Snowglobe Prototype (2003-2008) Fishbowl Prototype (2003-2008) Sports (November 25th, 2005) Wrapping Paper (November 25th, 2005) Sandcastles (November 25th, 2005) Preschool (September 4th, 2006 - 2009) Dash and Dot Activities (September 1st, 2008 - October 6th, 2013) Rebrand System Cues with Dot, Dee and Del (October 7th, 2013 - July 18th, 2022) I do miss the old PBS Kids so bad, and it was my childhood too! The 2000s were such a good decade.

It sure was, and yes sir I most certainly DID exist back in 1999! I was BORN in that year dude. Lived it as a baby! Began my life in a NICE small home in Stoneham, Massachusetts after leaving a nearby hospital with my parents (at their peak). And PBS Kids was brand spanking new then! Along with Spongebob Squarepants over at Nickelodeon (the BEST show ever). People say that 1999 was the GREATEST year in history for movies, and them movies include The Matrix, Toy Story 2, The Sixth Sense (featuring child actor Haley Joel Osment starring as Cole Sear who would LATER provide the voice for the main character in Discover Spot the following year) and South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. You must have DREAMED to be born in 1999, just like everybody else! Almost a millennium baby. Everyone who's nostalgic for the 90s is usually JUST nostalgic for the early 90s (which was actually a dark and depressing time, come to think of it). Things really started to get better by 1999 (outside of Columbine and the POSSIBLE Y2K bug). But by the 2000s? Oh hell yes! The world did not end at the very beginning of this really good decade and pop culture has really started to peak! So much variety of things to choose from, so that way you would RARELY get bored!! Strong economy till around 2008. The rise of technology such as smartphones, social media and flat screen TVs. Kids still played outside like all day long! The 2010s were a really good decade as well, actually. It was YOUR childhood and technology has started to get even MORE better. Economy recovered from The Great Recession thanks to Barack Obama! Healthcare improved big time. Everything started to suck by 2020, and that is a fact! Nostalgiatards suck. Blindly praising the 90s like it's a gift from God! The 1990s actually sucked. Terrible Internet, high crime rates, tons of crap music and more. The 2000s and 2010s, in comparison, were actually a LOT better than the dumb 90s (even though they were not perfect decades). I would just KILL to go back in time right now and restart my entire life doing so LM! There's a whole bunch of things I so wish to do differently, as someone currently going through severe depression!!! :(

Absolutely it's not LM! This show is SO bloody overrated and I'm not sure if it's cancelled yet! Surprisingly enough, Daniel Tiger was POSSIBLY an original character from the iconic Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood (in puppet segments) but here? He's been turned into a horrifying 2D animated character. Also, he whines all the time just like the infamous Caillou! The other characters ALSO whine (but I guess just occasionally), including Margaret, Katina and Prince Wednesday. Each time a small problem happens, it is NOT resolved the right way! Children often copy the actions Daniel does as he throws a childish tantrum. In fact, this IS most definitely Caillou 2.0! Not to mention, the obnoxious theme song. Ugh! >:( As much criticism as Little Bill gets, I actually liked that show from Nick Jr. and Noggin! It has a similar premise but it's actually nostalgic!
