I mean, our 1995 winner ended up in Shrek 1, that says everything :D And yeah, we're like really yo-yo... And the second time we saw Alexander Rybak, he did get 1st in the semi-final.

03:57 The Norwegian language uses a lot of what I would call "kose" ord. ("Kos" or "Koselig" basically means charming or comfy. Norwegians like charming things. Often charming in that silly, goofy, funny, cute, comfy kind of way. From people to places, to situations. And a lot of these songs qualify under that and bring back childhood memories for me because many were pretty popular in Norway even if they did badly in Eurovision or didn't even qualify) But basically often words are used just to fill out our entrance a bit. They can probably be called "filler words". "Oj's", "Ja's" "Oja's" "Da's" And other short Norwegian words/sounds are often used as some kind of filler words to "fill out" sentences. They can be used in a playful, calming, loving, and even angry context. So all the "Wow`s" or more accurately "Oj's" do make sense in the Norwegian context is what I am trying to say lol Example: A random Norwegian sentence with the" filler words": Oj, du seier det du ja? Directly translated to: Oh, you are saying that you yes? What can be an English counterpart to the Norwegian sentence: Wow, I hear what you are saying! (but it sounds less, sharp or exciting in Norwegian if that makes sense)

Btw, in Norway, how we pick what song to have in Eurovision we have a song contest of our own called MGP. And the winner is the one who gets to perform in Eurovision. I don't know if other countries does it like this, but we do it like this at least.

I know about Scandinavian countries like Norway, Sweden and even Denmark who have something like MGP or Melodi Festivalen. I love the concept of those.

5:03 this one uses a thing we call "Kano" where multiple people sing at the same time with either different parts of the song, or different lyrics. It can be a bit weird, but sometimes it works really well.

Fun fact: secret garden with nocturne, which was probably out best entry ever also wrote the original of "you raise me up", which got covered by a certain boyband, and became very popular. The original is much better though!

19:41 Yes, many countries employ this strategy, especially those in lack of competition to select a winner, but this certainly doesn't include Norway. 2018 was simply a poor MGP year for Norway. There were a couple of better choices, but the recognition effect prevailed.

2012 was my ultimate favorite and I was a massive fan of Tooji post Eurovision, until he stopped making music after 2015. He was done dirty by Europe, especially with him coming in last in the finals... on his own Birthday. I also loved 2011, 2013, 2014 and I lost my interest in Norway after 2016-ish.
