PigsFactory same, for me the charge in the dark realm was the hardest move to counter... I was about to break the tv when I saw him in the secondary mission and had to kill him in an even SMALLER arena

I'm in the minority then. I breezed through that boss after 3 tries. I had a katana build, the Nagamasa armor set so -20% ki required to dodge, and I had the Brute counter. Those things I think made the difference. I could dodge everything while staying close, and whenever he tried a big red attack I could counter instantly. His charges are extremely easy to exploit, if you just slowly walk backward he will miss you with the "hit" part of the charge and slow down to do the follow up attack. You dodge at this moment to hit him, and you are safe from the grab at the same time because you are so close the tracking isn't enough. Repeat until he is dead. I Never used Yatsu-No-Kami because I didn't know it bounced off walls until NG+. Silly me I guess. Another tip : drink your Daion-Jin Sake. It makes you temporary immune to element build-up. That alone make Otakemaru much easier, and it also make Katsui easier because without the fire damage over time you are a lot more cool-headed to properly dodge. EDIT : Destroying a leg of Gyuki instantly give you about enough Amrita Gauge to go in Yokai Form, or will extend its duration a lot. Also Yokai Form isn't meant to DPS by itself : you're meant to abuse Yokai core abilities to stay the longest in that invincible state.

Yoshimoto spooked the hell out of me cuz he has Frieza's japanese voice actor. That actor should not be voicing human characters... YEESH.

I generally had an easy time with most of the bosses aside from Ryoman Sakuna and Yatsu-no-Kami. Compared to Nioh 1, this game felt a lot more balanced in boss design and balancing between them and the player, and it was super nice to still deal/take good damage without having to grind in the side missions.

The Yokai ability from Yatsu No Kami is insanely overpowered! I'm steamrolling the game withit and it's only level 24. Does way more damage than my over level 100 abilities.

One of the few times in a boss when I was on fire the whole time and didnt question it. Also levitation scrolls make things pretty easy. Only realized that after the 3rd try

I found human boss harder since I finished the game using tonfa (It has a huge i-frame with it's ki pulse) humanoids have faster reaction time than those big boss.

Am i the only one who thought the owl was so easy? Every one of these rankings places him high but he was by far the easiest. Really cool design though.

For starters, although I can respect the use of any weapon in Nioh 2, the Tonfa is very difficult to use in the early game because of the low damage output it gives (although it's very good against bosses with low ki damage resistance). The owl seemed terrifying to me at first, but he's really not that bad when you stop panicking.

I've been rewatching nioh 1 boss ranking ever since nioh 2 came out because I was waiting for this good job dude

You've gotta give it to the Japanese for doing some severely deserved justice to Owls. Westernized approximations in media show them, more often than not, the wise, soft spoken exposition devices rather than exaggerating their inherent traits as apex predators. Which is far more interesting, at least to me. Seriously, an Owl will fuck your shit up. They're ruthlessly fast, almost dead silent when they fly, can reach average dive speeds of 30-50km/h as a conservative estimate, they have immaculate eyesight and they bring all those skills to bare on you with razor sharp talons designed to penetrate the wood of tree branches. Owls are badass... Except Owl in Sekiro. Fuck that guy.

I feel like the grunt yokais are just as hard as some bosses, because they can just kill you as quick & are tough to fight. That or I'm just bad at the game.

John Neth no I definitely feel you. Especially the kusarigama ones. If you don’t play it safe, just one of their hits can wipe your HP bar. I’m on my second play through and I still make sure to not get cocky with them

I actually had an easier time with the Tengu in this game than the first. In Nioh 1 they abused that 1 frame counter that attacked faster than you could react. Here they dont use it nearly as much

I know all the comments are from almost 1 year ago, but I just came back to this and remembered all the nostalgia from playing nioh. Just wanted to say how good it was and is.

His description of Enenra is perfect. Too early to really have gotten into the groove and your tool and skill set is minimal. Used to be my, “oh god, here we go again,” fight of the game. That being said I just beat him after 6 months away from the game with the fists and no damge. Died so. Many times over my first few playthroughs I have him down perfectly.

Wild comparing this list to Demodcracy's. Just goes to show how different people's experiences with these games can be.

Hey all, block Shibata’s charge attack right at the beginning of the fight (yes, block it) then counter with low stance quick attack and it will shatter his horns (dual swords is best). Do it twice and it will remove the charge attacks completely and you don’t have to deal with them any more... good luck!

Phantom burst counter is amazing, even if you miss time the counter he uses his giant blade and will block all damage

quick tip for anyone stuck on otakemaru the water geysers track you so you run past the the first one you can use the opening created by the other 2 to get in close and score some free damage also use kash'a's soul core with some extraction talismans because kashas core has 2 effects that are very good one makes you move faster when you absorb amrita which can be forced by the extraction talismans the other ability heals you when you deal damage with a yokai skill this works best with kasha's hellfire wheel since it has a slight homing effect hits enemies multiple times and sets enemies on fire which works on every single enemy except shuten doji

It looks like it depends a lot. From the build and from the style of play and the choice of weapons, and also maybe your experience. Because in my personal list I put the opposite, some bosses from the bottom to the top and from the top to the bottom of the list. I've never had any problems with Kasha and Tatarimokke, as well as human Tokichiro, and I don't even seem to have died once in all the times I've fight them, but Mr. Azai has kicked my ass so many times that I've lost count, and I always have kinda hard times with Kamaitachi, which is more like a game of tag than a battle in my case.

Do a bloodborne type shift to a different era eh? I'm thinking Norse could be pretty interesting. What era would you all find most interesting?

@@MazeMaker4Life While you're not wrong that Lords of the Fallen has a Norse theme to it, the game is fairly old and not really in the same style as Nioh. Team Ninja games are much faster- paced and less clunky. I do like Lords of the Fallen, but a Team Ninja take on the era would certainly be very different. If you have an era that interests you more, please share it. Your idea could very easily be better than mine, and I'm genuinely curious what others would want in an era shift.

Elden Ring is basically going to be a Norse souls game

I'm playing through this for the first time and loving it. One note for anyone stuck on Atarime the Owl. The splitstaff shreds the orb in about 2 seconds. It literally makes the fight's dark realms a non-starter.

This why I really enjoy Albino's content: 6:43 . This OneyG-ish weird but really funny sense of humor. "Ughhnnn Fun"

Good tip against Shibata Katsuie: When he is charging at you you can just attack and it'll break one of his tusks and do big ki damage to him. Unsure if it works when he's going for the grab though.

Or when he charges towards you can roll or dash towards him and it’ll cancel the attack leaving him open. However, sometimes he may attack the ground with his axes so watch out.

My rules with yokai shift is I sometimes use it not for damage or anything, but more like a second health bar before I get my normal health bar back. It's a temporary damage absorption buff rather than a straight damage buff know what I mean?

I beat the Owl on my first try but I'm close to the end of the game and I still think it was the scariest and one of the hardest fights. I don't know how I pulled that off. Really felt like I was barely scraping by, took forever, used all my elixirs. Really cool, really difficult encounter. The one that killed me most so far was Saika easily, those darn rifle shots. I actually made the Onmyo magic that reflects projectiles just to beat him. Never really tried knocking him out of the air much though, maybe I had the wrong approach.

Tatarimokke is was designed with the Switchglaive in mind, I believe. See I didn’t have a problem AT ALL because high-stance was “breaking” his 3 eyes, and he gets weaker with each eye you destroy. But I noticed that besides the Ax, none of the other weapons could consistently hit his eyes, which is crucial. I ultimately beat him on my 3rd try. And I blew past Otakemaru in 2 tries.

I also think that because my first playtrough was with switchglaive and it was a breeze, but now that i came back to the game after 2 years just to do a Fist weapon run. Bro i tell you that this boss is a nightmare, fist is a really op weapon in early game because it does more ki dmg than tonfas, but you have no range and some bosses is very hard to stay close. So far the ones who gave most trouble was Yatsu no Kami, Tatarimokke and Gyuki. Funny thing is even after 2 years i still have switchglaive muscular memory because im playing like i was using it doing ki pulse+posture change at the same time all the time.

Be thankful that the alt mission for the village is just a demon hunter. HOWEVER there is a mission way later like level 80+ Where you re-match the own but I agree with a lot of folks. Katusie was the hardest it was the only one I legit got stuck on.

when it comes to bosses in general i only use the yokai shift when absolutley nessecary so it's not that useless.

dude some of the yoki core attacks are insane im surprised you didnt use any. The snake bosses for instance does INSANE ki damage to everyone and thing

I love that several of my favorite bosses were closer to the easiest rankings (except Otakemaru, ironically), and some of the bosses on this list seemed way easier for me than ones closer to the easier categories, like how Yoshitatsu took me only one try and Kasha took two. Gotta love variable mileage.

For Magara if you stay close to him and strafe to the left you will avoid most of his attack I would still recommend dashing to the side when he does the grab

How can you put the owl ahead of the boar? You can kill the owl easily by spamming bombs and the hand cannon, the boar however is in a league of it's own in terms of difficulty.

I just finished Nioh 2 today and as always, I cant get behind your Number 1 xD I nearly first tried Otakemaru and only dies bc I got one-shot by the ice projectiles and finished him of the very next attempt (Level 115, glaive, nearly no magic/ninjutsu apart from regen talisman and fire projectiles)

Nioh 2 is the perfect souls game. Gameplay styles and equipment depth are second to none. It’s hard enough to keep me interested but not so hard that it makes me rage quit like the first Nioh or Sekiro. I’d say it’s up there with bloodborne for my favorite souls game

Kamaitachi translates to "sickle weasel" Its known for a few things its speed, its feet being sickles (hence the sickle part), and Kamaitachi attacking in 3s, hence the after images in his dark realm The first cuts the feet making the victim trip, the second uses its limbs to cut the victim all over their body, and the last applies a magic salve that heals most of the wounds. They work with extreme care, usually not spilling any blood in the procces It's said that if someone has randomly tripped on their feet, they have been attacked by Kamaitachi

Hey man, awesome videos as always! I'd love to see you re do the boss rankings on the highest difficulties: they legit change movesets and rearrange the rankings. Also, I'd love to see you rank all the bosses, including the dlc (which had some dope bosses). I'm sure that's probably too much work, if you're not already playing all that anyways, like I am; but I'm sure there would be a moderate demand for it. At any rate, thoroughly enjoyable video... glad you loved the game, like I do.

For the Lady Osakabe, you could've launch a few cannons in the center eye when it's open. It COULD HAVE been just a two parter.

You could use the phantom counter for ryumen but it has to be at any distance but as soon as that ice arrow looks like it hit you you got to hit it it's very annoying so barrel is just better unless if you're a fairy god

For anyone having trouble with Shibata Katsuie (the boar axe yokai) you can easily punish his charging attack where his tusks glow if you have a skill that guards and attacks at the same time, or heavy armor toughness (poise) or a long range poke or projectile (spear or kunai). Just poke him as he charges and it shatters his tusks, doing BIG ki damage and leaving him open for a paddlin'

Honestly, I had much more trouble with the humans and humanoid Yokai (and the squirrel) than the other ones. I was doing Jack-of-all-trades kinda' built though, with around the firts half being Kusarigama built, then 25% spear and rest swapping weapons until I unlocked their mystic arts. By far the most difficult for me was the Elephant Yokai-man, who caused me my only rage quit with the game. Also died a bunch to the spear guy on the same level. Happy to say that I beat all the Onryoki in NG (I think there were 4) on my first try, when in Nioh 1, it's the boss I had the most deaths. Maybe to any boss in the Soulsbourne/CodeVein/Nioh "genre" Possible exceptions being NK, Fume Knight, King Allant and Midir, but FromSoft doesn't show stats like Nioh (and like 99% of modern games) so I'm not sure.

I wouldn't have been able to beat some bosses without my yokai shift, it's interesting how vastly different everyone's experiences are on nioh 2.

You only really use yokai shift when you're in a pinch in a boss fight and need to do some damage without worrying about dying since you're immortal in that form. Other than that it isn't really good for anything. But more importantly, did you make a sekiro boss ranking?! I can't find it!
