Saw the Zata at Dicks the other day, immediately wanted it just because it was OD green haha, now that I know it's a pretty good reel too, I might go pick it up.

$140 for a graphite frame? That’s a hard pass for me. Bearing count is a myth. 11 bearings is just a way to make it sound good to uneducated buyers. I’d guess at least 4 of those bearings are in the knobs of the handle where a simple bushing would suffice. For my money I’ll take the Shimano Curado over any reel produced by Abu.

Im leaning towards the Zata but the graphite frame scares me because I’ll be fishing occasionally in the Susquehanna flats (upper Chesapeake). Which one do you think I should get?

Abu Garcia is my go to reel brand, I just got the zata combo with the reel and matching rod and I absolutely love it. I haven’t got one birds nest yet and I even used it with no brakes just thumbing it. I also have a revo x and I love that reel also but I think I like the zata just a little bit more

Great review man and would love to see the big review because a lot of us our combos don't even cost 140 lol maybe 90 for the entire thing like the black max or silver max thank you for this it was amazing

I have a bunch of Abu. Zata/roxani are great. Sx and x are great budget reels. My go to for rigs and jigs is always the revo rocket though. Love your videos man!

That rocket is nice especially when I’m fishing jerkbaits or fishing an bill lews trap lure I normally just yo-yo it due to the fact of my rocket being a higher gear ratio

I’ve had a black max “all graphite reel” for 4 and a half years and use it for a lot of things and even small glide baits on a extra heavy rod.

The black max is the best reel in class. Stupid good and the reel that got me hooked on abu garcia reels.

The revo would be better, but Id look at some salt specific abu reels

I got a revo ax for $12 at a pawn shop. A little tlc and it’s fantastic.

Just got the SLX XT. Couldn't decide between that and the Zata. Definitely going to be my next reel. Love the comparison videos. How do you feel about the lews Mach combos?

Just Got the Roxani myself. Only the reel though. And it's exactly the same reel as the zata. Exactly.....only difference is that the Roxani was made for the combo and is exclusive to bass pro and i think cabelas. So u have the zata lol

I want to try one of the abu Garcia reels and the Shimano SLX DC but I am hearing rave reviews about the Six Gill Wraith yes a no name brand so might pull the trigger on that one instead. I highly suggest looking up six gill the owner is awesome. As always thank you for the great content

I think Six Gill makes some decent stuff, but if I'm honest... I do not like their baitcasting reels. I've had a few, and I just did not dig them.

@@aaanglers I have the six Gill cyclone. After a lot of use and tweaking it I finally found out how to use it. It’s my first baitcaster. I enjoy using it but I feel like there is better out there.

That's high praise beating the SLX DC. Going to have to take a look at it. How about a top 5 reel list for under $200?

No idea, Monsterbass worked with us on those. Brand of the hat is Richardson and the shirts are Next Level

What would you recommend I'm deciding between the sx, or the zata or the revo alx, I've heard nothing really bad on the sx but they are all the same price, and I've heard mixed reviews on them and can't find a review on the alx

Never had the ALX. The SX is fine, and more durable. But I love the Zata, it just gets dumped on because of the graphite frame. It's durable enough though and I love it

I love my regular revo x the only thing I wish the abu reals had is the centrifugal breaks with the magnetics. I think all reals should have both sets of breaks. JMO.

STX, Rocket, Premier, ALX and ALF have the dual braking system. And the newest gen 4 SX comes with the dual brakes.

these usually to came in a combo with Zata x Vendetta rod, what do you think about these rods?

It's an okay affordable rod. Definitely gets the job done, but I'm not a huge fan

I love my zata it does what I bought it for very well but it was 179.99 at dicks a year ago

Us northern guys have plenty of maintenance time when it's icy and snowing and just shitty for a few months out of the year

I just got the zata combo for 100 from a dude second hand. Almost brand new. Kind of disappointed the frame isn't metal.

I'd be real mad if I got the zata over the revo premier full price. I have both and the revo rocket and the premier beats it hands down. And it's currently only 150 bucks at bass pro

Hey guys, I’m new to the fishing scene and can use your advice. I live in San Diego. I know this reel is used for fresh water fishing. Can I use the Zata for bay fishing in salt water?

Not likely, I think the light graphite frame would not do well in salt. There are a lot of salt specific reels that you would be better off with. Check out Okuma or Shimano salt reels.

me personally i’d rather have the revo aluminum frame always better than graphite frames use shimanos though but we have big stripers here musky big flatheads and big blue cats and all of them will take artificial baits and they put a lot torque on the frame just largemouth and smallmouth i wouldn’t worry about it

I'm in the northwest and I've had no issues with my revo x hs or black max being able to reliably land salmon. I don't think the graphite is anything to be overly concerned about.

This is before i watch the video i like the look of the zata have not used ither i will check in after the vid

So i like the zata and i kinda do care and am somewhat gentle with my reels so I might get that one but a bit pricy that buck i usually pay for a combo with that same money

I only kayak fish my man! I have a Hobie Pro Angler 360. But I'm a big fan of the Old Town Sportsman series and the Bonafide kayaks. Super budget friendly... Look on Facebook Marketplace and buy one used! That's what I did for my first 2 yaks

They all cast the same distance. The DC is just supposed to birdsnest less due to the digital chip. That said I think roxani has a different frame...? I'm not really sure.

I have had both of these reels for quite some time now. The graphite frame of the zata has begun to flex and bend slightly causing clanking & misfitting side plate and just overall not a very smooth reel. The Revo SX with the alloy frame has had zero issues and is smooth as butter.

Actually it does.... it’s called the Roxani exact same reel just different name and color

Hi there I just bought this zata reel n man this is really nice reel. Here im fishing for snakehead and all the snake head especially giant snakehead is a vicious predator but zata can handle this fish. The reel is very light n yet its drag power is high so everytime the snakehead ambush my frog bait they will be fool n this reel is handling it very well.

I have the revo sx and the Zarathustra love my revo way better reel

ok I have 40 years seasoned bait casting fool .( 5500 Hell yeah still use them) i have ab revo sx that has set on my desk 99% of the time paid $189 when it came out new. the reason it sets on my desk is that comparing to two cask king reals i have using 1/2 oz lead on them the two kaskkings will out distance the SX by 20 yards with everything that would limit or slow down the SX off. whats the deal with getting this thing to cast. ( bobber fishing)

The revo sx 2 brakes systems an aluminum body way better quality than the sata

Revo sx 7.3to1 is the b3st reels have 2 massing reels have 2 daiwa tatulas type r I have Lewis reels my personal opinions abue garcia have the new kast king mega jows elite very well reels for the many kast king mega jows elite is the best

@@chapasebastiano8 quality of the parts seems better. All metal frame instead of a plastic type of thing. Bigger spool. Better brakes.

SX all day. SX is better built by a mile, and has an aluminum frame. Zata is all plastic. You may as well buy a KK $39.99 special.........

Just buy a shimano or daiwa and you dont have to wonder about it....

I was able to watch about 2 minutes of him looking like he was trying to punch out the camera. Ridiculous hand and arm movement.
