    I love the egg in the planting hole thing. Some years ago, I decided to try it and my nosy neighbor ( who always spends a ton of time watching everything we do) couldn’t take it after about a half hour, and asked what I was doing. I told him I was raising chickens from scratch. He went inside the house, and about 10 minutes later, his wife came out laughing. It felt soooo good!

    I was so impressed when I was shopping at a local nursery. They posted a sign that said something to the effect No we don't have tomato starts Its too cold to plan them. "We're selling cool weather plants now, when its time to plant warm weather crops we'll be selling the starts." Unlike big box stores who sell the same plants in all their stores across the country regardless of local weather.

    When a joke instantly becomes the greatest idea ever!!!!!!!😂😂 when y’all have your learning center it could become “Miah’s food draggin wagon” to take around to the local schools that may not have the ability to put in a school garden and teach kids about planting and harvesting food👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    You could make a mobile garden as the next trendy version of an ice cream truck. Drive it through urban neighborhoods and let kids see what it's like to pick their own food and taste it right off the plant.

    When we were children here in England we had vans that delivered fresh veg and a bread and cake van along with the milkman delivered in glass bottles and the butcher would sell meat door to door some things that were great in building community should of stayed kind of sad for this generation not to experience that 👀

    Schools should consider something like this... bring it into lunch programs..unfortunately there is a lot of corruption and that'd be a challenge. Jamie Oliver already attempted to get healthy lunches in schools and the companies that supply the "food" got involved.

    I got some of those jiffy pellets to start some squash and cukes, things that don't like their roots disturbed... I've just heard that it's best to peel off the casing when you plant it because they don't biodegrade as quickly as they'd like us to believe! 😊

  • @haleystencel413

    @haleystencel413

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes! Peel those casings! I tried some of these last year and was just scratching amendments in the same bed this past weekend and found quite a few of the casings from last year that haven't biodegraded at all. I also found that the roots grew through the casings pretty quickly and grew into the casings of the surrounding pellets, so a lot of my seedlings were super rooted together through the casings and it was tough to separate them. I went back to soil blocks this year.

    When planting (or transplanting) perennials, I always remember this adage: the first year they sleep, the second year they creep, and the third year they leap. I have found that to be true with every transplant I do.

    Miah. That really was a great idea. You can take to food poor neighborhoods and show them how to grow food in anything.

    Girl.... let me tell you. I am a recent discoverer of your and Miah's world and I fell in love within 5 min of the first video. I have watched video after video taken notes, bought your book, looking for a clay mug to leave on the fence post etc. I am beyond thankful for you sharing your journey and knowledge with us. Gardening has been my escape since I was little and it went away for a while due to life and 3 babies 5 and under. I am back on Spring high and you have helped me come back from a deep place of not doing things that's good for my soul and dealing with BIG FEELINGS! Thank you for the confidence, thank you for the smiles and thank you for your family's journey. Can't wait to keep watching you grow!

    I can see how you'd have big feelings, knowing it's your last time doing gardening stuff in the garden. I giggled when you were chatting to us in the greenhouse and Bear was laying beside you - I thought "I wonder what Bear thinks of you talking to no one in particular" lolol!!!

    The fluffy legged chicken caught my six month olds eye. He looked so fascinated by her! I can relate to having a hard time processing feelings in the midst of a transition. My husband is active duty and we have moved around a lot because if it. I have tried gardening in Ohio, the southern CA desert, and eastern NC. We have sweet memories that we made at each place we lived. From our first puppy to our boys, each transition brings back all the milestones we had in each place. I am excited to grow beans! I keep missing the live videos!
