this is their best april fools joke yet. They legit put a lot of work into this. Hell this is a cool tech demo if anything - it shows the game has support for virtually infinite dimensions. I also love how surreal it is. Some of these are even kinda creepy. They probably let the developers go crazy and make whatever dimensions they wanted

Actually the portal seed, "Portal" is what ive found closest to the backrooms, you can check logdotzip's video where he shows it at 14: 30

I haven’t seen any comments about it yet, but the “message” one is a reference to Douglas Adam’s and his Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy series. In one of the books the characters go to a planet to see “Gods Final Message to his Creation” and it reads in flaming letters “sorry for any inconvenience” and I love that they put that in there

Fun fact, one of the things listed in the change log was “added visual storytelling”. And a lot of the random dimensions are filled with fleets of endships each containing orders from, “the universe itself.” This April fools joke may actually have some deep lore hidden in it.

They made that library that has a shit ton of censored books from many if not all the countries in the world. The entire earth was made to a 1:1 ratio. Literal paintings can be remade inside the game thanks to the way maps work. Thanks to it's easy to handle API modding the game or hell, even with commands people can do virtually anything. If this isn't art or the Pinnacle of gaming itself in terms of creativity and infinite possibilities, literally, I truly don't know what is.

Holy heck you're right. Both about the worlds and about Minecraft lore. I also get that feeling thinking about how empty the Minecraft world is, and how there's no other creatures similar to you. Plus the remnants of old structures that seem like they were built by someone like you, but abandoned long ago... The worlds also have a little bit of fear of the void and the sheer crowdedness/overwhelmingness of some of them Patterns, Rooms (30), Retro (29), Sponge (35), and Wall (37) were all like that for me

"Library" is a reference to the thought experiment of the infinite library where a library contained an infinite amount of books each with random letters in it so that eventually everything ever written will be in the library since it's infinite. And the "library" dimension is made up of the new block which gives a book with a random set of letters which connects it even more to the infinite library

I had a friend called Bob and I showed him the isolation dimension, when I showed him the Stabby Mcstabface chest he said "Yeah that looks like something I'd have inside the walls of my house", he then proceeded to get up, go into his closet, I heard something that sounded like he punched a wall, then came out with a rusty dagger. He then proceeded to tell me that this was his great grandfather's dagger and that he was never meant to take it out of the wall, I asked him why he took it out, he smiled and said "I thought it would be funny".

"Room" is now my new nightmare. Imagine - you are in a giant dark, low-light enclosed space. You open the door and find yourself in another such place. And it goes on forever

I think there was a movie like that called like Pandora's box, a bunch of people go into a "room" and have to escape it and reach the end before the entire box rotates and the have to do it again

This is some kind of SCP shit. Seriously, I'm heavily reminded of all those dimension-travelling skips, like the Red Sea Artifact or that guy who'd travel dimensions at random or the girl who could go to alternate timelines based on info she was given. Especially with the sense of isolation. There's an overall dreamy or sometimes nightmarish feel to them as well, and I also get a vibe of early Minecraft(1.8 and earlier, when the world was mildly empty). Holy hell do I ever wish my account still worked so I could play this. I'd love to make some cool builds in these.

I am planning on making a skyblock style server using it. Every player gets 10 dirt, a sapling and a water bucket. Spawns will be tuned so wither skeletons can spawn. With fishing being nerfed it places a pretty huge bounty on the water buckets.

I did your survival idea. I spent 90 minutes preparing, was able to collect almost a full stack of obsidian, used cheats to give myself the special book shelves, and now I have names for each of the dimensions I have explored... until I went to the dimension with about an infinite amount of entities, and my computer nearly exploded.

This is far and away the coolest April Fool’s joke Mojang has ever done, and I would honestly not be opposed to it becoming an actual feature. Need a certain material but don’t know where to find it? Need to capture a specific mob? Just wanna see some weird shit? Chuck a book into a portal, and you’re off. This idea honestly has so much potential, and with a bit of fine tuning, it could make for a fantastic addition to the game.

You know, given that it's near infinite, you could technically find the perfect book word to be able to get the aether dimension... Edit: yee

There was a world generation type similar to this that they have removed, it included one of every block in the game.

The retro one comes so close to being a retrowave neon world recreated in minecraft, it just needs some finishing touches.

I thought I was smart for getting the Menger sponge joke, then I remembered I only know it from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

This is absolutely testing for future Minecraft updates. They came out with super secret settings that changed the filter on the game and we all though they were just some silly additions, but became the filters that you see through while spectating a mob. That zones one is hella suspicious, maybe a biome that gives a status effect? The red blue and green at the end were probably testing for the nether as soul sand valleys have a different hue in the air. Plus those colors make up all colors if you tweak em.
