I love the progression of TerminalMontage's art and humor style reflected in these bosses. While the early bosses still had a somewhat cartoony art style, they generally looked more disturbing, grotesque, and clashed with their bright cartoon environment. This is seen in bosses like Marx, Andross, and Dharkon. However, as we progress, TerminalMontage adds more detail and the bosses settle into a more grounded look. They fit with the environment better and allow for much more flexibility in how TerminalMontage structures the encounters. An easy comparison is Kirby's Adventure Kracko and Amazing Mirror Kracko: the first Kracko is a creepy photorealistic eye, while the second Kracko fits the look of the world and physically interacts more with Kirby. The second Kracko's design approach offers much more nuance to its respective scene; it would be jarring for a photorealistic eye to show up in Heaven, and it would be much harder for Kirby to have an in-depth interaction with a PNG of an eye. Of course, TerminalMontage can still make bosses look disturbing if he wants to, seen in 0². Even then, though, the horror comes not from the tonal whiplash of photorealism but from the eerie details and atmosphere. This shift in design philosophy offers TerminalMontage much greater flexibility on what he can do with his bosses - he can do goofy one-shots if he wants, but he can also do justice to a boss with a several minute fight using the exact same art style. Even though his whole channel is about silly videos that make us laugh, TerminalMontage has matured his art style and humor, and I wanted to take a moment to appreciate his growth as a creator.

Part of what I love about TerminalMontage is that he appreciates the music within the games and makes it clear by formatting the mega man boss battles as music duels

I'll never get over the sound-boosted slap being the most powerful weapon in the Something About Universe

The way that ended with Giratina keeled over was so perfect and properly anticlimactic. I love it. xD

Bird Up was the hardest boss in Monster Hunter games. His first phase has him grow larger the longer he's alive. His second phase sends you to the Bird Up dimension, and if you don't defeat him in time, he'll crash your game.

Samus vs Ridley is by far my favorite boss fight in the Something Series. The tension pre-fight, the music, the color palettes and just both of them going all out against each other (because canonically this is the last time Samus fights the real Ridley)

You know I actually got into a argument with a guy who said Samus could beat the doomslayer because she was part Metroid or something to put it lightly no she couldn't and yes I know the joke of them being married but in a actual fight Samus is dead because she fights things that are dangerous but only to a planet and solar systems, the slayer fights creatures who showing be able to die and CONSUME ENTIRE UNIVERSES and he's been fighting them for eons man literally killed his multiverse version of God because the guy got betrayed and made hell exist and Samus could barley deal with a over grown spade dino whilst the slayer was dealing with things that make ridley look like a friendly little childs toy so yeah I know this doesn't apply here just wanted to get that out there

“Oh no, you’re a wall now!” “That’s right X!” , has got to be one of my favorite jokes/exchanges from this series. I feel like the interaction is so applicable to many different 2D games. A boss “getting stronger” with their next phase, only to become a stationary one screen wall that’s not nearly as threatening or engaging as previous phases. Granted, I don’t know if that’s the case for this particular game/boss, or if that’s even the joke Terminal Montage was going for, but I just think the exchange was decently good at making fun of that particular trope regardless.

Having beaten Mega Man X, yeah Sigma becomes a Giant Wall boss with a specific weak point in the actual game. The game actually has 2 of them, the other is during the climb through Sigma’s Lair. Mostly that trope is due to limitations with the 2D nature of games like that. If you want a big battle, you make the boss REALLY large. Even Metroid Dread, a recent title, has a “Wall Boss”.

I love how the first thing we see is Baby Mario violently shitting all over the floor, really sets the tone of the video I feel. In that it's hilarious.

Lmao, the way kirbo yelps after the boss gives his speech makes me laugh every time. So random and unexpected.

I like how Kirby should be able to walk by Wispy Woods with no problem, but chooses to go all out on a fricking tree. Gotta love Kirbo!

Every one of these is incredible, but Suave Ganon is legendary. So much so the channel Scion made a Gerudo valley/Suavemente remix that is unironically incredible. TM makes art, and TM's art inspires even more art.
