I love that the gbd 200 has larger digits to allow those of us with failing eyesight to see the time. The step tracker and other fitness stuff is a great bonus. These are exactly the features I'm looking for in a watch that doesn't require charging every night.

Nice review. I've owned the DW5600BB for a couple of years. I use it to ref football matches, wear it to work and even looks good on nights out - the solid black goes with anything. I do have an expensive watch but tend to use the DW5600BB almost all the time - excuse the pun. A solid watch.

I really like the GBD-200. The strap is comfy (with lots of adjustment holes) and the MIP display is wonderful. I wouldn't be too worried about the warnings about the soapy water and sun exposure. It's probably something that the legal department insisted on. My main complaint is that the Bluetooth features like notifications and linking to smartphone GPS for fitness tracking just don't seem that helpful (at least to me). Notifications are either all or nothing. I wish I could filter them at the watch level instead of the phone level and just get messages and calendar reminders. I've turned them off to save battery life.

These warnings are standard in every manual, It just covers their butt in case of any warranty claims. Manufacturers are good on such things.

Small detail: Robert De Niro wears the Casio g-shock dw-5600 in the 1995 classic movie Heat!!

This video saved me money. I was thinking to update my GW-M5610U, but as soon as you mentioned how carefully you must wear it, it defeats its purpose on my use case. Great watch and amazing display... but sadly, I couldn't do environmental field work with it.

Perhaps check user manual for your GW-M5610U, maybe it says the same thing? Sometimes manufacturers say things like that just for due diligence. Thanks for leaving a comment.

I have the DW5500BB and it says the same thing in the manual regarding the water resistance. I don't think we should worry about anything...My 5500 is built like a tank and I keep it while I shower/wash hands etc.

Is there a Solar powered version of this watch as i also have the other watch you showed and since I bought it, i have never needed to change a battery. However, my sight is failing and the GBD-200 seems the way to go as it can be seen from any angle. Great video. I’m convinced!

Been wearing GW5000U for a while but ever since I got this is has not left my wrist. This watch is absolutely perfect great for work out, work and travel

I’m not really interested to much on the phone connectivity , I love the look of it and as silly as it sounds the fact that it buzzes !

That tuck in was hilarious, didnt realize we had to keep our watches safe and sound at night

Good info on 200 negatives, but I workout a lot and am getting one.

Can you adjust the Seconds on the GBD-2OO independently of the Bluetooth ?

I have a question. Most times, my watch counts in increments of 6 or 7 steps. However, a few other times, it tracks in increments of 1 or 2 steps and I can't seem to figure out why it does this. Is this some sort of a defect?

I didnt know g shock GBD 200 have sleep mode. How it works? Might save battery life.

The strap on the GBD-200 can be used on a GA-2100?

Surely this model is like many other G-Shocks? .... ie 1: The Power Save can be turned off so that the watch does not sleep. 2: Auto Light can be turned on by holding the light button for 3 seconds.

I love my GBD-200SM-1A5JF. G Shock needs to imvent an adjustable pin buckle for their straps like those on luxury watches.

Model: GBD200-1 ordered.

I’d buy an updated version of this with a positive option (should be interchangeable) and tough solar!

Don’t listen to them nonsense precautions, they have to write that to cover themselves but it’s bolocks, it’s a G Shock so it’s tough👍🏻

GBD 200 > You mention having to RESET the "auto" light as a negative. Where I think the "auto" light is a negative, as it would activate even when your NOT trying to view the watch. Drianing your batt., Needing to Reset it is a way to save your batt. As for the power save mode it has a preset 3hr off to prevent burn in, but you need to over ride this if you want it to be longer.

Dude, if it's like the trusty old faithful you can probably reset the auto light by holding the light button for about 4 seconds. Could be wrong. Let me know.

Go with a solar and radio one I have the 5600GG but prefere my radiocontrolled solar one. The 5600 is nice tough!

Do the pedometer and distance tracker work also without being connected to bluetooth/phone?

Yes it does. I use mine while my phone is at home and it works. I just connect it to my phone to uptdate my records in the app. I have a gbd200

Is there an option to display the 24h time at the same time as the 12h? I swore I saw someone have that

Not in gbd200. At least mine just cant do it. 24h or 12h, both at the same time no. There insnt enough space to show it. The only option where you see 2 hours is the world time, but again 24 or 12, not both.

They have the same warnings on all of their watch manuals. I own a Gbd200 too and I use them for whatever, you don't really have to worry about how fragile the manual makes it sound like. However the nooks and crannies are hard to clean so just be a little careful about that😂

I have both, prefer the size of the older version. Wish they would make the older version with MIPS.

I think it’s more to do with the detergents discolouring/ damaging the plastics rather than water ingress. As for sun light, if you’re wearing a g shock in any extreme conditions you will suffer the consequences before the watch does... any military ( especially SF ) will choose Casio g shock over any other brand for a variety of reasons but mostly rugged dependability. Wear with confidence.

If you look in the manual for the classic DW5600 it will almost certainly say the same. It’s just Casio covering themselves.

I own both the gdb200 and the dw5600bb.... The gbd200 looks beautiful but just doesn't have the same toughness feel to it ... I don't use the fitness features or Bluetooth connectivity... Leave it on airplane mode , don't use the autolight, turn off the beep sound to optimise the battery life... I recommend the tried and true dw5600bb over the gbd200 imo . You just cant beat the simple classic design

Good call! I also use the GBD200 in airplane mode. It's a good watch with all the unnecessary nonsense disabled. I don't use the 5600bb at all anymore, as it's just too hard to see. Regret not getting a positive display old-school square.

The screen off time can't be configured from the watch operations. You have to install the app and set your preferred screen off time from there.

gbd-200 - better display, dw5600 - better size

The way it goes to sleep at midnight is stupid. Some of us work nights! The display looks great. I just wish they made a g-shock with this display but NO BLUETOOTH! I don’t want to be subject to constant RF exposure nor do I want them tracking me all the time.

You can turn on airplane mode if you don't want bluetooth working all the time

Definitely the GBD-200 because the strap holes are closer together, so you're likely to find a better fit. I converted the DW5600 to a nato using aftermarket adaptors because I just couldn't live with it. The most comfy G-Shocks I own are the DW6900 and GW6900.

Hello, nice DW-5600 ! How come there is so much difference in your measurements compared to the measurements Casio gives ? Casio gives 48,9 mm x 42,8 mm And you give 43,5 mm x 39,2 mm

Depends where they measured from. 39.2mm is 'my' lug-to-to measurement that I show in the video at 3:58, described as a measurement from the strap pivot pins/screws, perhaps not where everyone would have measured from. As for the case width, I measure the width 43.5mm, shown at 4:01 camera doesn't lie. I just re-measured that for you to doublecheck, and it is correct, 43.5mm. I never trust case measurements on retailers' or brand sites as they are often completely random. I always go looking for a KZread review to see it being measured. Hope was helpful. I'm waiting for the tough solar version of the GBD-200 whose styling and colours look fantastic to me. I've seen it in red which looks great.

i have the older version but love it , looks stylish and honestly the display issue that people say is nothing tbh i havent faced any issues maximum if you have an issue just change the angle and you can read the display perfectly.

Can you turn the Bluetooth off on the watch?

I had GBD 100, with white strap, and... It hold white color VERY good! And was VERY durable! I just put 31mm hard glass protection on it and it's perfect! And watch could handle everything!!! I upgraded to GBD H1000... And from Squares I just got GW B5600 on a composite bracelet!! 😁😈😎

I prefer the GBD-200 for the MIP high contrast display and big push button for the light.

I bought my GBD 200 Black bcoz smartwatches with touch screen is so common these days..I want to be different, besides apple watch looks so boring for me. Lol 😂
