This was the very reason I wanted a Genesis when I was a kid. The Genesis brought us very close to having the arcade experience at home. Even games like Sonic the Hedgehog and playing that for the first time was mind blowing with its graphics and sound!!

Although the Dreamcast is capable of playing Neo Geo CDs, it would be awesome to have a Neo Geo too but the prices are prohibitive, maybe one day I'll have that chance. It's always neat to see an entire shared library side-by-side. In some cases, especially when you do stuff like the Atari VCS/2600 or Game Boy etc, it's just neat to see how came of with a de-make of sorts to squeeze a game from a much more powerful arcade or home system into something resembling the original but with its own twist, sometimes those are fun and sometimes they failed horribly, but those are always neat either way. You get a small handful of titles on the later, more-powerful systems like the Genesis with stuff like the down-port of Virtua Fighter 2, but much of the time on the 16-bit consoles you have more just straight ports. Sometimes they are good and sometimes bad, and your videos show enough of the differences to where you can decide "Most outstanding. Hey, this port on this system is worth checking out" or "Bogus. Heinous. Most non-triumphant. This version of the game isn't worth even watching a clip of let alone playing." Right? That's how I feel: it's just a fun comparison that might get me to try out a game I've never heard of or a port that looks cool that I've not played before. It's not about hating on any system but the opposite: it's just about seeing what's good, fun, different, or bad about each game on each system. There's more difference and changes in ports on the older systems due to massively different hardware, and these comparisons help you find little gems of cool, neat versions of different. Now, usually the best games on systems are the exclusives, and that's the case on retro consoles too of course, but it's still neat to play old ports too especially if the devs did their own thing and made something that's got some unique things going on compared to the original game. I'll have to watch through the ones here that are bonus games not featured in the main season. I can say with certainty that my favorite game in this list is Mortal Kombat 2 since it's my favorite game of all time period lol. It isn't the best port, but I sure as heck had dozens of hours of fun with it. The Genesis port doesn't get as much play from me these days because I'll usually play one of the better ports or the arcade version, but it sits there by my Nomad or sometimes I throw it in the Genesis I have hooked up and gets played a few times a year. UMK3 was fun and one of the most expensive non-collectors-edition games I bought until the last few years. I love love love NBA Hangtime (and of course Jam and T.E.), and think it's a great port, better than the Jam/T.E. ports and College Slam too. The Genesis port of MK1 is why I bought my Genesis in '93 instead of getting a Super Nintendo like I had been wanting for a while. The Street Fighter ports were fun and Samurai Shodown even if they are not perfect by any means. Now, does the arcade win in 99% of the cases? Sure. But, many of the Genesis ports were good enough back in the day, and occasionally, if you like FM synth, a few of the games you might prefer the music on over some of the arcade games' compositions (Matt Furniss' MK1 and MK2 music may not be better, but I do like them just as well as Dan Forden's original tracks). Party on, Bill!

Thanks so much my friend for watching through the whole season from the very beginning! You have a knack for summarizing things so well that I have trouble adding anything because you covered all bases (are belong to us) and add insightful knowledge to everything better than I ever could. You make a point in here too that I wish the many people commenting "this is not a fair comparison" on the PS1 vs DC video would realize; it's not about saying one is better than the other. It's seeing how developers handled these ports on hardware that couldn't stack up to the arcade, well with maybe the exception of Flicky. Despite it not being the best port it's hard to argue against MKII. I too played the hell out of this version and I think it's easy to forget that back then most of us didn't care if a game was 100% accurate to the arcade as long as it still resembled it and was fun to play. There are games like Altered Beast that kind of get trashed online these days that I played to death and I still think is as fun as the arcade even if it's technically inferior in every way. Overall this season balanced itself out. I got to try out games I'd never played like Crackdown and Snow Bros that I loved and had trouble putting down to record other games. On the other hand it had the unholy trio of this channel with Hard Drivin', Race Drivin', and Klax...
