I had Predator Absolute from 2005 I think, they were called Beckhams, they were red and silver, loved them as a child. Now I am 26 and rocking predator edge, which aren’t that good, but they get the job done :D

I started out with the mania, in the grey and red model, which was an absolute beast of a boot, being only 15 og 16 at the time it took a hell of a lot of persuasion. To this day I’ve still got the 2011 model adiPower in the black/red model and have been taking really good care of them, and they fit like a glove. Always loved predators, and Beckham was my hero growing up, so he had a big part in that as well.

loved played with the manias, pulse, absolutes, power swerves in highschool and my god they dont make em like that anymore for sure.. that K-leather was (chefs kiss) awesome.. still have the absolutes and power swerve to this day and they fit like a glove still

cannot agree more. The Powerswerve is my favorite, but man is the Absolute a gem too. They are the pinnacle of the Predator concept

Predatore Pulse and absolute have been my favourite as a kid. Amazing they were, and design style the most beautiful - wish they could replicate them

My favorite, and best ever, is the Predator Powerswerve. Fantastic kangaroo leather, I loved the tungsten powder in the tongue, best power-boot element i have ever tried, great shape, lasted years. A real weapon of war for the best footballers. I still have many pairs

My favorite was the Predator Precision in the white Champion's League colorway. What an amazing boot!

I had the Powerswerves DB edition back then. Bought second hand from my friend. It was phenomenal! The upper material and the rubber elements were nothing I have ever tried on. Too bad it was a full size larger than my feet, so I didn’t enjoy them as much as I should. Now just bought the Elites, have yet to try them on the field 😊

I’m gonna have to watch the documentary that was made during the development. I remember watching it back in the 90’s.

It would be nice if Adidas made an AG (real) version like Nike does, with shorter, more conical studs for artificial grass pitches. In recent years they have made MG-AGs that were the same as the FG version and there was often a risk of injury.

Predator X was where they lost me back in the day but this new version has definitely won me back.

Accelerator and Pulse were the GOAT boots of my childhood. Never actually got a pair of Accelerator's which is upsetting to this day. Wish they'd release traditional black and red colourways with their modern Predator boots. It's like the ICONIC Predator look and I never see it anymore as an option.

In my 60s now but wore 'World Cups' or 'Copa Mondial' for (almost) all of my playing days, but I did end those playing days with a pair of 'Predator Precision' & I bloody loved them, side note, recently found them under the stairs, cleaned them up & put them on Ebay, they sold for a ridiculous price £££

Aham, I get it now why they've displayed more than one color for same model for some boots, but I still find it strange that both models of the Absolute are the classic black/red/white, the only difference appearing to be the soleplate. Another strange thing about that display made by adidas was placing the Mania in 2003 when it was clearly used in the 2002 World Cup in Korea & Japan. Anyway thanks for the reply Jay!

I loved the first 5 preds. Less rubber was way worse for performance.

This only tells part of the story. They offered different boots below a UK 6 or US 7 or... I don't know what that is in European 40 maybe. But they in certain countries had different tax rates. So it was a different boot. I had the what was the equivalent to the Touch but the kids offering. It was then I realised it was a load of rubbish. My preds made a squeaking sound in the wet. The following became so subtle it was no more than stitching and brands like Nike offered their version. Obviously Adidas were paying out that they didn't want, so killed it off but brought it back. There was even a game Adidas Predator Soccer... It was bad but that's how strong it was. Puma King was probably second at the time but the white fold over tongues were as cool as the red as a kid back then. I remember when Roberto Carlos took that famous freekick against France. I also remember, even adults (through training etc) thinking he managed to do it because he was wearing predators - he was of course wearing Umbro's and switched to Nike when they signed Barsil. Beckham.. do you remember when he was signed with Clarks? Cica Blades? Blades were essentially what I think Adidas called Traxion but a different design to not break patent laws. Ignoring all the stories that Messi et al wore different leather boots, of course we're going to buy these and it's part of the fun. But the very, very best players in history didn't wear them.

Interesting video, thanks! it seems like there is a crazy scientist running Adidas labs. They have a good model and then drop it to make a terrible one. There is no continuity or institutional knowledge, and you would expect some gradual improvement, but they don't exist. Every model is its own mystery and has its own built-in "bugs." They do seem to be less impressive compared to models of 10 or more years ago.

Preds stopped with the Powerswerves. RIP Kangaroo Leather.
