I just bought one of these as a belay jacket to go over my nano puff. I love the way the fit and finish of Patagonia products and it's easy to find them on sale.

I own the nano puff and just recently purchased the das on sale. Was actually curious of this combo as well.

I have the DAS parka and DAS light. The DAS parka is insanely warm, way warmer than the light parka. I use that as my goto in really bad weather. The downside is it is tough to use and not overheat if moving around at all.

Thanks for your comment. I have not tried the DAS parka yet.

A suggestion for a video - could you share you thoughts & decision making on what jacket / layer combinations you choose depending on the weather. Now owning a number of Arcteryx jackets I’d be very interested in this video. As an example when would you choose the Atom LT rather than Proton FL that type thing! Great videos so appreciative of all the effort you put in to them! 👏👏👏👏👏

Do you think this is a good jacket for around town and maybe block a drizzle and wind?

Sure, it's very lightweight, so easy to wear. It's not for very cold weather, but surprisingly warm for it's weight. I wear my Nuclei FL a lot in temps around 40's and 50's.

Not having dump pockets makes this lacking compared with the Nuclei FL, at least in actual use in the alpine. Also the insulation is not as durable as that used in the Nuclei, however I think its looks better, and I say that as a huge Arc'Teryx stan who owns 19 pieces :)

"Keeping you as warm as ... goose down." Depends. Maybe the 550-600 fill power, but any modern synthetic is no where near as warm, or offer the same clo values as 800+ fill power goose down. Synthetic insulation will degrade over time, especially when exposed to repeated compression cycles, ie: stuffed in a pack, stuff sack, etc., whereas, down, if properly stored and cared for, will "last" decades, if not longer. Financially speaking, down insulation is money better spent, lighter and water for a given weight and will compress much smaller than synthetics. Synthetics, however, will do MUCH better in wet and humid environments and will insulate if exposed to same. That being said, I own the DAS Light and it's easily my favorite synthetic jacket. I wish they'd offer the DAS Light in a non-hooded version.

I hear what you're saying, but I do think that this jacket is warmer than a synthetic jacket of the same weight. The Micro Puff is really warm for it's weight. But that's just my opinion.

Apparently, Patagonia as a company is very 'woke' and as such I don't buy anything they make! However, some of their gear looks nice enough but is overpriced as well. That's the magic combination for me at least to leave it on the shelves!! And considering how much stuff I've bought it's a miracle that at least one Patagonia item hasn't snuck into my home!

@@Smashycrashy That's fine by me! I've way too much gear as it is. I'd much rather give my money to the 'non-woke' crowd rather than be associated with people who want to virtue signal. I'd prefer companies like Outdoor Research, Rab, Carinthia, and Artilect is quite nice as well, and Mountain Equipment....and the list goes on and on. Short version, I've way too much gear!

@@lumpy3408 my sweet summer child, you think a Seattle based company, a Boulder based company, and two European companies are going to be less "woke"?

@@Andy-Mesa I don't even want to look! If people want to have noserings, purple hair and sit and scream on sidewalks that is their business! I'm simply not buying the same clothing as those people so I'm not confused for someone who is blocking the streets and causing traffic jams. It's that simple. I'd rather walk around dressed as an Xmas tree than be confused for someone whose biggest priority is telling everyone near them who they find attractive or what carbon limit everyone else but them should have.
