I love that the message of this challenge/video is that you don't need a lot of money or expensive ingredients to make a fancy, delicious dish. If anything learning how to cook and learning the basics of flavors and textures will help amplify a simple dish (cheap or expensive).

They don't actually make it with just things they got for $10. They also used spices, oils, wine etc that was in the kitchen. It wasn't an accurate representation of what you could make for $10. Жыл бұрын
@@nevermind5657 Nah, the ingredients they normally use in any challenge will always cost way more than any 10$ or 25$ challenge. They use a lot of high quality ingredients and seem to always be stocked allowing the contestants to choose from a variety of ingredients. There always seem to be way more quantity and variety of ingredients than what they use. Believe me, they could make a 50$ challenge and they would probably be saving a lot of money on that episode. Specially since there would be no waste. So it has nothing to do with budget or production value. So the most likely reason is inflation.

Inflation has caused my mind to be blown at what these chefs could purchase for $10, or less. Lamb, pita, herbs, feta, olives, cherry tomatoes, and more for $8.95. Even if I only paid for the small portions of each ingredient I intended on utilizing (which may be the case on HK) I would have easily gone $35-50 over that budget; and that's not including other consumables like salt, oil, etc.
@snerdterguson

It isn't just inflation,the prices they show are completely inaccurate. Even a decade ago, you weren't gonna get the makings of one lamb dinner for $10 unless you were buying in bulk.
