The breaks in the advanced suit does serve a purpose tho. The red parts are supposed to be a thicker material for protection, while the blue parts are a thinner material for more movement, which is why there's breaks around the shoulders and the belt. That's why in the game the suit never really got torn

The last NWH costume is just cgi crap. I can't see them going with this shiny 1970's shimmery blue. They just threw that in there last minute to make the fans salivate for more. They were better off showing him making it and then a silhouette of him jumping out the window. Leave us with some mystique instead of blurry CGI trash. If you didn't pause the frame you couldn't even see what it looked like. That tells you everything.

I agree, the Advanced suit mark 1 should NOT HAVE BEEN ORANGE. In all the marketing and promotional material, it was red. That confuses me the most. Other than that, it’s one of my favorite suits of all time. So glad they changed it for Spider-Man 2

Fun fact: according to Alex Ross, the final Raimi suit design was based off of a Spider-man trading card in the 90s drawn by the Hildebrandt brothers.

Wow! I just looked it up, and while it is definitely different to the final Raimi suit, you can see where he took inspiration from. It has the very sharp edges at the bottom of the lens like the Raimi ones do and while they are not silver, in fact they're also red, the webs are drawn to be raised and that's how they stand out on the costume.

I also love how the Insomniac Miles suit V.1 has external shoes that blend into the design. You can see the zipper and how it looks like it can be removed so he can swap it out for regular shoes or make it easier to wash the suit

I disagree with the Insom. Sym suit. I believe that it looks great, and it looks a bit more like muscles then armour imo

Love that one of your biggest focuses is the 'believability' of a suit. That is why i LOVE the miles morales game suits, specifically sportswear, great responsibility, and the one with earmuffs. Almost every other suit in that series is made with some futuristic, unrecognizable material that doesn't exist on earth, but when Insomniac chooses to use something real, even if it's as decoration like the earmuffs and scarf, they do it so well. I wish they did that more often instead of leaning towards "it's shiny like hard plastic but also bends like fabric"

I kind of miss the ballet slippers on Spider-Gwen's costume in ATSV. I always thought that was a cool way to incorporate the teal footing from the comics in a way that tied to the fact that the Spider-suits need to have thin footing for them to wall crawl. I do like the ATSV suit better for the shape of the black bodice and the webshooters/arm pieces though.

Agreed, the ballet slippers fit her character better for me. Hard to get behind her acting like a ballerina with the clunky shoes.

Of the live action movies, my favorite is between TSAM 2 suit and same ramies.

Missing the red hoodie Miles suit which imo is one of the best suit ever. The scene associated with the suit feeds to my bias on the suit

The whole point of the iron spider is that it takes him away from the Spider-Man persona when he joins team Ironman and its a much cleaner version and stronger message in the comics

And the whole point of the MCU Iron Spider Suit is that it's only an upgraded version of the Stark-made suit. Tony Stark doesn't want Peter to become like him. It's a VERY CLEAR message in the Spider-Man: Homecoming. He only gave the suit to protect Peter in space. So this version of Iron Spider suit fits the narrative better than the OG design from the comics.

It would make more sense to call it something like the Avengers suit because the iron spider isn't just a metal spider-man, its specifically a mix between the Iron Man suit and the spider-man costume.

The suit isn't even officially called or referred to as Iron-Spider suit in-universe, it's us the fans who immediately called it as MCU's Iron-Spider suit because CLEARLY, just like the Comics, it's a metallic armored suit designed by Tony Stark during the Civil War timeline, with spider legs attached to them. And just like the comics, it still possess both elements of Ironman and Spider-man. But this adaptation leans more towards the Spider-man aesthetic (which is thematicly in-line with the narrative of Stark trying to not make Peter as a second Iron-man)

But imo, the comic version did a much better job showcasing that the iron spider suit really was an iron man suit with a spider man design around it and I think it would have done the message of homecoming a lot better

The new black suit kind of looks like they used the design of the Armored Advanced suit from the first game as a base. (which I really really liked). It would kind of make sense if the symbiote just kind of had to stretch over those armored pieces, but still weave itself through the fabric for that fleshy look. I was thinking the same thing! The structure is very similar. And it's nice to find another person who likes the armoured advanced suit. I also feel like the "armoured" parts of the symbiote suit comes across as more like tendons and external muscles wrapped over him (at least to me)

That ain't the only problem. There are many problems with it. One of them being that black suit ditched the suit design Insomniac themselves build (lower legs of the logo going downwards, while the higher ones are aimed at the shoulders) and went with the "classic" logo. Don't get me wrong I like the original black suit, but new black suit would've benefited immensely from a logo that accentuated Peter's shoulders

There is two homemade suits one fron civil war and another fron homecoming

This is by far the best Spider-Man live action suit ranking. This is the only ranking that includes the minor variations of all the suits.

Gwen actually has the converse before joining the spider-society, you can see her wearing them in the intro.

14:30 probably a story reason since pete also has some white bits on his forearms, most likely because of the new parry mechanic thats gonna be in the game, as seen in the gameplay reveal but without the symbiote. those red bits act as some protective layers to his suit.

My experience with ATSV Miles' suit is so similar to yours. I was initially pretty put off by the lack of the cool chest stripes from the first movie, it's just red stripes on the sides. But idk like every single day that passes I've come to really appreciate it a little more. It's genuinely just so fun to draw and to look at. Almost gives me similar vibes to like Vans shoes, just solid color and a stripe down the side, and its simplicity just feels so good, allows for some really fun color contrasting. I do love too that it does actually have some classic spidey suit details, but you can only see it in certain lightings and paying attention to the suit textures. It just looks so good. It went straight from my least favorite spidey suit to one of my favorites ever.

Sam rami suit is still the best imo so much detail so beautiful.

the TASM2 suit is perfection imo. I don't think it can be beat

Never a fan of the redesign of Andrew Garfield's suit for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". Sure, it's fairly comic accurate- especially when compared to it's predecessor. However, it looked FAR more cheaply made. And it's obvious that there wasn't as much love, or attention to detail as the suit that had come before. It looked like a baggy, Halloween costume, rather than an actual suit. The emblem was far too low on the front, the eyes were much too large for Andrew Garfield's head, and the webbing was entirely too reminiscent of Sam' Raimi's design in contrast to the suit worn in the first film- being raised, rather than "etched-in" as they had been in the original. I think Webb cracked under the pressure of fans, and it resulted in a soulless, "safe" design- when he should have taken everyone's criticism a little more constructively, and just made some adjustments while still keeping the spirit of the original.

When it comes to the Insomniac suits, I do think you should have brought up the remaining suits that are canonical to those versions of Peter and Miles. For Peter, that’s the Classic Suit he wears at the beginning of the game (plus its damaged variant) and the Anti-Ock suit from the game’s climax. For Miles, that’s his initial costume and mask from the beginning of his game and the “Power and Responsibility” suit Peter gifts him before he makes his own suit.

25:40 despite most views on this suit being “too tech based” or “too far of a departure from the classic suit” I do quite like it. For me it’s recognizable that this is MCU Spider-Man, no matter if he has slight changes of his suit looks throughout his films. Obviously now going forward they ditched the tech look for MCU spidey, (which is cool with me) but you get my point. I’m fine with how they did the homecoming suit. Although, I think I prefer the slightly darker shade of blue for this suit shown in Captain America Civil War. It just fit better in my opinion.

I disagree with the insomniac symbiote suit ranking but respect

I will say, in my opinion the Raimi eyes work WAY better on the black suit. I've wanted to draw my own Raimi designs for a while, with rounded eyes on the classic and sharp eyes with messy Edge of Time styled webbing on the symbiote suit. Also, I've not finished the video yet, but if the Spider-Verse Miles suits aren't ALL top 5 I'm crying ong

The Raimi suit simply is a symbol of something greater, and that is the superhero cinematic film genre as a whole. It is the face of it.

The Sam Raimi SM2 suit will always be by far my favorite. It’s perfect.

The thing I like about the Tobey's and Andrew's suits the most is they don't have moving lenses. Every other Spider-Man from live action to cartoon have moveable eyes, which make Tobey's and Andrew's feel more unique.

Tasm 2 is very low given it’s one of the most accurate suits

Interesting ranking. Definitely had some opinions I wasn't expecting. Like approving of the less Iron Man inspired Iron Spider. Here's my list ranked best to worst, in my opinion, excluding the stage show suits. TASM 1 Suit - Unique design, still resembles Spider-Man, looks homemade by a poor high school student. Not the best logo, though Advanced Suit Mk2 - Vastly improved reds and more interestingly placed cuts Insomniac Miles Morales Mk1 - Red fingers and no red stripe down the arm NWH Final Suit - Clean, vibrant, classic, and good Spider logo design Peter B Parker - Classic suit Insomniac Black Suit - I don't mind the paneling. It's like the symbiote is hardening where it feels it matters for protection while leaving other places pliable for mobility SpiderVerse Miles Morales Mk1 - Unique Spider logo and no arm stripes Raimi Black Suit - Maybe could've used a white logo and lenses, but looks very cool either way TASM 2/NWH Garfield Suit - Classic design, improved logo ove TASM 1, but placed too low on the chest and eyes can be too big at some angles Unused Civil War Suit - Webs maybe raised too much and spider logo maybe too small? I like the second insomniac miles suit more to be honest, I love the colour scheme a lot more, the red is brighter and glossier and the main colour is less of a grey and more of a black, i could’ve done without the stripes on the arms but I don’t mind them. I also like how the triangle on his chest is larger

I personally really like the new suit for miles in Spider-Man 2, the red on the arms is very clean

My favourite Spider-Man suit is absolutely the ITSV Miles suit WITH the streetwear. I don't know man, that whole scene just means SO much to me, it's my favourite scene in anything ever. Second place is the ATSV suit, then the ITSV suit.

I’m in complete agreement with you, man.

I’m gonna be honest with this. My personal favorites are all of Tom Hollands suits and Andrew Garfield’s first suit. Mostly because they don’t the white or black webs sticking out of their suits, unlike all of Tobey Maguire’s suits and Andrew Garfield’s second suit.

I decided to make my own ranking but I did add some of my own suits to this list from the insomniac games

i agree with you on the colors of the advanced suit, but the cuts make sense, as another commenter said the blue parts are flexible, and the red's a kevlar-ish material probably (and yes the white spider shouldve been encased in the red but oh well) and the only cut that makes less sense is the one from the lower shoulder, shouldve been on his elbow or something.(with everything else i kinda agree, thigh pads are not neccesary) (hope you include the mk2 insomniac made it way better)

Probably my favorite spider man suit ever is the homecoming suit I like the black arrow things on the shoulders and I was never of fan of raised webbing so that’s also a another reason why Mcu spidy is my favorite aside from having grown up with him.

To me the advanced Suit from the PS4 game always looks like it was sponsored by Nike or some sportswear company. It looked nice for a second, but than I couldn´t shake the thought, that he would wear it in some kind of commercial.

I think what you are missing about the iron spider suit is that it is supposed to look like a Spider-Man version of an iron man suit

Yes the raimi suits aren't as to the comics as the other two universes suits but I think that the raimi suits are more heroic looking and seeing him wear it in no way home really shows he's more of a veteran at being spiderman than the other 2

That'd be a pretty dope idea. I'd love to include ALL of the suits but I'd need good pictures and Google Image search is oddly nerfed these days.

The new black suit i think is taking place later in the game so the suit is trying to bulk up in to the full venom look you can kind of see it because at the end of the gameplay you can see the eyes slightly change shape and that’s why I think it looks more bulked up and armored

In my opinion, the 2002 version of Tobey's suit is the best. I think it's perfect.

Ever since Browntable's video on Marvel's overuse of CGI I haven't liked the Holland suits that much. The lack of creasing in the fabric suits really stands out to me at how unrealistic they are. And the very solid (oval plate) looking masks don't help either when they're meant to be stretching over his face. It's funny though because I love the adjusting goggles, as it's a great way to give expression. I think that's why I really like Amazing Spider-man 2's suit. The CGI costume is so much more realistic. Plus I prefer the thicker webbing and the larger spider. Honestly if that suit had adjusting goggles like Holland's I think it'd be perfect.

The red and black suit didn’t actually get cleaned in the next scene after it got paint splotched on it. That's exactly why it's turned inside out. We see him trying to clean it and it just not working. Still, it doesn't make the design any less unnecessary.

What bugs me the most about the Insomniac advanced and classic suits being so orange is how the damaged classic suit looks. In an attempt to make it look dirty and beat up they made it slightly darker and it looks proper red in most lighting. A shame that wasn't the shade they went for with the other two

Yeah, that’s this suit for me) 3:Advanced Suit V1 (my thoughts on this have basically gone a very similar way as many other Spidey fans where I initially didn’t get the decisions with this suit but with more promotional material and especially when the game came out, it’s now up there with my favorite Spidey suits) 2:Advanced Suit V2 (answered all of my prayers for the original version, better colors, the emblem doesn’t go out into the blue and looks like it was I guess sewn into the suit instead of how it did before where that kinda looked like it was stuck on, and it’s overall just more simple and it makes it more appealing for me, I’m really excited to play in this suit when Spider-Man 2 comes out) 1:Upgraded suit (I’m not gonna separate the two versions, a belt change isn’t enough for me to give it two separate slots, anyway, not sure what exactly it is about this suit, but it honestly might be my favorite Spider-Man suit ever, if only we could’ve seen it more without it being turned inside out and having a gold Iron Spider emblem on it) Edit:Ok, I’d change some choices I made here, the Black and Gold suit I’d have at #31 cause that didn’t need to exist at all, I’d put Miles’ AtSV suit in between his Insomniac Upgraded suit and the Civil War test suit, the Insomniac Black suit at #5, Peter’s Insomniac Classic suit ahead of Miles’ and both of those ahead of Miles’ ItSV suit, I’d knock down the Advanced Suit 1.0 to in between ItSV Miles and AtSV 2099, and of course moving the Advanced Suit 2.0 to #1. My biggest issue with the Black and Gold suit from NWH is that it raises so may questions. Does Peter just constantly have a bunch of wires and circuits pressing up against him? How did he turn the mask inside out with the lenses still working the same way? How did he just turn the boots inside out without any issues with the soles? What about the web shooter nozzles on the forearms? This suit makes no sense from both a narrative and a functional standpoint. He has all those exposed wires, gets zapped with electricity and there's no problems with any of the suits functions that already come and go depending on the plot. At least with the Stealth Suit (Night Monkey) it served a narrative purpose and looked cool. The Black and Gold is just stupid. When I first saw it in the trailers, I thought it was battle damage, where a layer of the FFH suit was destroyed, which could have factored into the Integrated suit being made as a way to repair it or replace it

This has nothing to do with this video but it's just a thought Istg if they give Peter his symbiote suit before secret wars or if he dosent get it in secret wars would be such a chance of the comic story

The MCU final no way home suit looks nice but I think the blue is too reflective I think the bright shade is perfect but the reflectiveness is a bit too much

for me my favorite is Spider-girl mayday parker suit and Spiderman 2099 which are really awesome and badass at least in my opinion.

I agree, although weird little tidbit, despite promo material portraying it as red, gold and blue, it's actually red, gold and black, which is bizarre because in most lights it really does look blue. It's something the designer said.

Honestly, I don't know why there's so much hate for the Iron Spider suit. I mean, i know it's CGI and not everyone's gonna like it but it still looks insane in the movies. And not to mention the spider arms that come with it. I dont know if its the greatest suit, but in my opinion top 5 spidey suits of all time.

I prefer the comic iron spider as it matches iron man 🤷‍♂️. I also don't like the tasm2 suit as while rewatching it i noticed how loose it was on him which made ut look a little cheap to me. Also while i (much like everyone else i assume) am excited to get venom in spider-man 2 i do have to agree that insomniac's symbiote design do be looking a bit odd.

I would argue against the statement about the MCU Iron Spider suit being better than the comics version because first of all that red and gold combination is just chef’s kiss in design and also I’d say if they had just ripped the comics version straight from the page it would fit a lot better with Peter’s story in Far from Home with everybody expecting Spidey to be new Iron Man and how better to show this than with a Spidey suit that just has Tony Stark’s name written all over it
