@@darthvader6120 You may be right after I given it some thought. To me he felt rebooted yet still classic. Almost like the current version of Michael Myers.

Part 6 is my personal favourite too. It’s refreshing to be able to see Jason while he’s killing (and not just in the final act) and it’s also got an engaging storyline instead of Jason killing everyone just cause.

Jason Lives is my personal favorite. You could just see that Jason was resurrected with so much anger and viciousness and the kills are great.

i'll just say the ones i liked : 1, 2,3,4,5 and 6. i respect part 5 a lot because it tried to give a new direction to the story without using always jason. As a freddy fan i hate freddy vs jason because they don't followed the rules of the dream world right in that movie, freddy cuts the nose of a girl in the dream world still she awakes fine. between friday the 13 parts 8,9 and jason x i can't honestly say wich is worst.

I think every scene with Tina is perfect. But the scenes without her get tedious to me. (Though obviously the famous sleeping bag kill is classic.) Still, there's enough Tina action to suck me back in over and over. That final battle is balls-to-the-wall action and excitement, resulting in my favorite on-screen explosion EVER. The way that house blows up... WOW! It even shook the camera. It just looks so cool. Very satisfying.

Yeah, Ginny had Jason on his KNEES and accomplished it by merely using words! "Why not use a little of that child psychology you're majoring in." That's still one of my absolute favorite scenes. Tina carried Part 7. Without her, the movie would have fallen apart. She IS "The New Blood." Chris had an interesting backstory and was an engaging character. In short, I agree.

Awesome list Sean. I tend to like the remake a little more than Part VI mainly due to Derek Mears' performance as Jason. Both movies are great though.

Here's my ranking. 12- Friday the 13th V: The New Beginning- with part 6 ignoring almost everything that transpired in this and the killer not being Jason, it's largely pointless. The one enjoyable aspect is the outhouse duet between Demon and his girlfriend. 11- Friday the 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan - having a weak premise and kills that were so tamed down that it hardly needed the gore edited for tv, this proved to be the weakest performing at the box office. The shot of Jason standing in Time's Square is iconic and memorable, though. 10- Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday- Absolutely asinine and ham-fisted lore being shoveled with Jason seeking to be reborn through his sister and Jason barely being in this. The unrated cut of this film is a must see for gore and body horror fans, beyond that it's a good film to get buzzed and riff on with friends. 9- Freddy Vs Jason- Really hated the sudden and forced fear of water that Jason supposedly now has, and the characters felt largely unlikable and their deaths, with the exception of the bed, weren't all that memorable. This film is slightly redeemed by the excellent fight scenes between Freddy and Jason. 8- Jason X- It's silly and campy and it makes no apologies for it, and it's likeable though not a particularly good movie. 7- Friday the 13th Part III- The 3D gimmick gets old exceedingly fast and Shelly is annoying as hell to watch. This movie shines with a mostly likeable cast, the appearance of Jason's iconic hockey mask, and an awesomely groovy theme. 6- Friday the 13th Part II- Overall this was well executed and a decent follow up to the original. The kills were a major step-up from the original, and Ginny was an excellent final girl. 5- Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood- The kills are inventive, though as the director said, "the MPAA raped my movie", and that is obvious with most of the gore and the kills being trimmed down. Despite these flaws this film ranjs so highly because of the phenomenal debut of Kane Hodder, and his excellent physicality, in the role of Jason Voorhees. 4- Friday the 13th (2009)- Despite fan backlash, this film is highly enjoyable and it does establish a logical timeline behind Jason. This Jason, played by Derek Mears, is ruthless, fast, calculated, and oddly sympathetic. Definitely worth a watch if you can accept it as it's own film. 3- Friday the 13th- The original is a classic. Betsy Palmer gives a sensational performance. It is tame compared to the rest of the series. 2- Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI- This is campy, self aware, inventive, and a ton of fun. Thom Matthews as Tommy Jarvis is excellent and the entire supporting cast are all strong too. As long as you can handle zombie Jason, you will enjoy this film. 1-Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter - Ok, we can all laugh at the title and how this series, much like Jason, refuses to stay dead. This film features Ted White as Jason and sees stellar performances by Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover. The special effects are done by Tom Savini and almost all of the kills are perfect, I'm looking at you raft kill and "he's killing me". If you somehow made it through my wall of text, let me kniw what you think.

In my opinion. Part 5 was good for me, it had a lot of weird and silly stuff about it and I liked it. I liked how dramatic Tommy was and the characters of this movie were way more enjoyable than most Friday The 13th movies for me. The kills were great and while I’m not sure how I feel about the Scooby Doo type ending. I still think this movie was very enjoyable and fun to watch

I believe there is something to be said based on when we were all introduced to the Friday The 13th series is how much that would influence our ranking of the movies. I vividly remember when the series begun in the early 80s, being on network TV, the movie rental industry in its infancy giving fans the ability to watch the unedited movies at home and not just in the theaters, which of course my mother forbidden me to see when I was younger. I rank the movies based on how true the movie is holding to the Friday The 13th model. The more authentic the cinematography feels to me, the better. I need to feel the movie is truly tied into the area the story is taking place in order to resonate strong with me, the characters have to be genuine and most important, the less magical the effects are, the stronger the movie holds a special place with me. The more realistic the kills appear, the greater the impact to the viewer. I get it, make up, sounds and the illusion of something horrible just happen has to be present in order to achieved that desired effect. Remember horror films were designed to be cult like underground movies diving into any type of scenario that's not mainstream and causes controversy. The moment you make these movies commercial friendly they lose their intended purpose which is to draw us into what we are supposed to be pushing away.

PT 5 is my fav. It has likable characters and it was a nice plot change for Roy to be the killer. The kills are high and isn't boring film. What I really enjoyed was the unstoppable force that Roy was. He never broke character. They also gave Tommy a nice arc with him being traumatized by the death of Jason and being hunted by Jason. The dude really suffered and become a badass

You're right, Shrek killed one man in the movie. When he was making one man a knight, he accidentally swing the sword too much, so he died (I think). But I don't know why everyone hates Shrek the Third. It's a movie like the others. I liked the entire franchise. My favourite is Shrek 2.

Even though it's not ranked high, 5 is important, as 4 5 and 6 really are a neat little trilogy within this larger franchise. I really wish Tommy had shown up more, though I guess his arc is pretty complete at the end of 6. To me, he is to Friday the 13th what Nancy is to A Nightmare on Elm Street. Also, even though the character has issues, the psychic chick in 7 should be another hero character in the Friday the 13th game.

Watching this makes me want to purchase and watch them all!

Sean! Friday 6 has always been my favorite since the time I saw it at my cousin's birthday party back in 1987! The film is fun, but doesn't make fun of, fast paced, well shot, good kills, a beefed up action score by Harry Manfredini, and a threatening Jason! I genuinely think it's a good movie.

I don’t remember why or how I got so interested in horror movies like this but I’m glad I did

Great ranking! I use to have another top list after the always number 1 Jason Lives, but nowadays I would probably agree on you about the first three or four spots on the list. But to me, JGTH comes in much higher. Maybe right after them at #5. Really enjoy this franchise. I almost always Friday the 13th off from work to marathon all 12 of these movies. Usually start around 6AM and finish around 1AM. It is both a fun marathon, yet grueling towards the end. Below is my ranking: 12) Jason Goes to Hell 11) Friday The 13th Part 5: A New Beginning 10) Freddy vs. Jason 9) Jason X 8) Friday The 13th (Remake) 7) Friday The 13th (original) 6) Friday The 13th Part 7: New Blood 5) Friday The 13th Part 3 4) Friday The 13th Part 2 3) Friday The 13th Part 8: Jason Take Manhattan (first slasher movie I ever saw so I have a soft spot for it) 2) Friday The 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter 1) Friday The 13th Part 6: Jason Lives

While I usually rank Part VIII around the bottom, I don't hate it. I too have a soft spot for it. There's something particularly creepy about the sound design and how it blends with the music. Watching that movie with headphones on is a genuinely and surprisingly creepy experience!

Thank you Sean this was a great list I agreed with everything except I would switch the original with Friday the 13th part 4

Jason X is the most cheesiest in the franchise. How the heck is that that high on the list? And how is it better than part 5?

A little surprised you have Freedy v Jason so high, buts thats A-okay! I am so glad you have Jason Lives at #1, It's the sweet spot in the entire franchise! Nice video, did you happen to see mine? I posted it a few weeks back.

I like the first 2 yea thats it I just got used to horror movies that this point because I watched all nightmare on elm street so I didn’t really like the other friday the 13ths but i still will carry my gun on that day

Highest I ever seen someone rank Jason x, but like you explained I believe it rates higher for you because of the memories of watching it with friends. Higher rating more for nostalgia than for the movie itself.

I don’t understand why don’t you have 1 mil subscribers you deserve it

I dunno they both have forgettable characters and storylines that screw up all 4 of the series, and I was always a bigger fan of freddy, and the predators (both of whom lost)

It’s called never hike alone it takes place in between Freddy vs Jason and Jason X although its just a fan film its so good and actually scary that many people including me count it as cannon i every own a physical copy of it if you want to watch it, its free on KZread go see it its the true 13th Friday the 13th film

Don't forget Most of the movie takes place in wherever The "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies take place. They don't go to Camp Cristal Lake until in the final half hour of the movie
