In Halloween (2018) Laurie would be 57 and Michael would be 61. I liked that it kept the blind eye that Michael would have after Laurie jammed a hanger into it. I think my favorite scene was Michael dropping the teeth over the bathroom stall.
As a point of reference, I rewatched all of these over the past 2 months and wrote a ton of notes for this list. These are my updated thoughts 13. Halloween: Resurrection-A giant slap in the face to the Halloween Franchise 12. Rob Zombie’s Halloween II-This movie makes me feel dirty inside and outside 11. Halloween Ends-A Halloween movie that doesn’t know why people watch Halloween movies 10. Rob Zombie’s Halloween-A film that loses the intrigue of Michael Myers for me 9. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers-A very strange direction to take this series 8. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers-A pretty bad sequel to Halloween 4 7. Hallween Kills-While there things here I really like, the movie can’t pull them together to make a satisfying film 6. Halloween III: Season of the Witch-A movie that works for what’s it’s going for 5. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers-An enjoyable, effective Halloween film 4. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later-Just because it’s like Scream, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good time 3. Halloween 2018-A very good Halloween revival 2. Halloween II-For whatever reason, I really liked movie on my most recent rewatch 1. John Carpenter’s Halloween-One of my favorite movies of all time

I’m with you on really liking Halloween II. If you ask me, Halloween goes as far as 1 and 2 just because I really like the sandman ending of 2. The sibling stuff was maybe unnecessary and kinda raised a few questions, but at least it’s one of the few times we’ve seen a corpse for Michael. Therefore, an ending I liked cause it didn’t intend to drag itself longer lol.

I 100 percent agree that Loomis’ desperation is one of the elements that makes the first film work so well. Adds weight to the film. The line that always sets the tone for me is “He’s gone, He’s gone from here, the Evil is gone! Only line that sets the stage more for me is H:II’s “You don’t know what death is!”

Hey Sean, I have a ranking idea to go well with this new Halloween Ends release. Ranking all the Halloween timelines: 1. Halloween 78 - Halloween II - Halloween IV - Halloween V - Halloween VI 2. Halloween 78 - Halloween II - Halloween H20 - Halloween Resurrection 3. Rob Zombie's timeline 4. Halloween 78 - Halloween 2018 - Halloween Kills - Halloween Ends And I guess you can introduce Halloween III as its own timeline if you want, thus having 5 timelines.

The 1981 sequel is a perfect pairing to the original. The same cast and crew, largely returning keep the same look and feel of the original and understood what made the first one great. SUSPENSE! In fact, i would argue that its better than the original because it takes the suspense, the violence and the pacing and turns all three up a notch - including Dr Loomis’ amazing dialogue. It even adds to the score with that punched up tempo and wonderful gothic organ! As far as the criticisms go: yours, john carpenters and others site negatives that are as prevalent and more in 2018 version, so ive had a hard time understanding them. I’ll take the brother sister angle which at least connects the opening sequence with his otherwise random fixation on Lauri Strode. Much better than that dr sartain twist which is just a complete joke. As far as not having enough Lauri strode, you get more dr loomis which imo is a far greater asset for the film. From any stylistic or filmmaking standpoint, I don’t think anyone can really argue that 2018 is better than 1981 except that the effects are updated. I hear a lot of people say how the 1981 sequel turned it into a ridiculous slasher. Well, what about the random and cartoonishly violent deaths that were shoe-horned into the 2018 version? To me it sounds like peoples preference for 2018 over 1981 is just a product of the time more than anything. I suspect when we look back on this movie in 2030, it will slide down people’s list some. And NOTE: im not meaning to belittle the 2018 film. Its a decent sequel, but iarguments made for its being the best sequel just don’t make any sense to me. My list Halloween II Halloween 1978 Halloween H20 Halloween 2018 Halloween 4 The rest are not worth ranking imo. I actually like Halloween III, but I don’t consider it a part of the franchise so ill leave it out.
1. The OG 🐐 2. Halloween 18(not gone lie could be my personal 1) 3. H20 4. 1981 5. RZ Halloween 1 (everything after Kid myers) 6. Halloween 4 “7”. The rest can honestly go somewhere here 8-9/Last. Resurrection & Ends, embarrassing Halloween & Micheal Myers films.
The way you explain your reasoning for each ranking spot # is great 👍
Great video bud! This sent me down a Halloween rabbit hole!
1. Halloween (1978) - Masterpiece, nothing more needs to be said. 2. Halloween II (1981) - Underrated sequel to the original, and probably as close to a JC directed Halloween sequel we will ever get. 3. Halloween H20 - the best JLC performance of Laurie Strode 4. Halloween 4 - Best non-Laurie Strode sequel. Danielle Harris and Ellie Cornell are awesome and what a finale. 5. Halloween (2018) - Solid, but slightly flawed, back to basics reboot. It is basically H20 without the brother/sister plot. 6. Halloween III - A solid, JC produced and musically scored entry that works well as a stand-alone movie. 7. Halloween 5 - A bad sequel to H4, which setup 5 really well. 8. Halloween 6 - A weird sequel that the writers unfortunately had the task of explaining the WTF moments of H5. 9. Halloween Ends - three ABC Afterschhool specials have groupsex with a once attractive horror film. It has to be seen to be believed. 10. Halloween Kills - Halloween fan service crammed into a clown car and set on fire. 11. Halloween Resurrection - Busta Rhymes was the only positive in this film. 12. Halloween (2007) - a dirty, trailer trash rehash of the original H1 and H2 that removed the mystic of Myers. 13. Halloween 2 (2009) - as someone else pointed out on here, this one makes me feel dirty all over.

Happy new year 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Halloween end’s definitely at the “end” of my list lol.
I feel that Ends was a good movie, but the second plot could've been shorter. It's not a bad idea and I feel the story worked for the most part, but I really didn't care about the "love story" side of it. Also, the story has a lot of similarities to Stephen King's Christine (which John Carpenter also directed). I feel it managed to do what Halloween 4 teased in the end and didn't go forward with it for some reason and managed to pull it off mostly successfully. The other thing is that it clearly is set up for Halloween becoming a anthology which I think this is the best way to go with it (it even included the Halloween 3 font in the intro and end of the film, and that film was originally the start of a anthology and Blumhouse said that if given the chance, they would love to explore or at least set up other stories for a anthology series of films like how they originally intended all those years ago. There is a scene in the sewers that somewhat suggests that idea/plan). It also has a end for the rivalry between Laurie and Michael (and it ends the way that Jamie and Carpenter originally wanted all those decades ago....if you know, you know).
Interesting how with each new Halloween film since 2018, they got +4 spots on the list. (Halloween 2018 #2, Halloween Kills #6, Halloween Ends #10). I don't think that consistency was intentional
Good list actually 😊

My ranking is very close to yours, except I like Ends more than you did. It's not my favorite, by far, but I enjoyed the way they changed the entire tone (although I felt like I watched Friday the 13th 5 - A New Beginning)
I’ve only seen 4 movies so I’ll rank them 1.Halloween (1978) 2.Halloween (2018 3.Halloween kills 4.Halloween ends

Your breakdown and opinions on the movies are great as usual and I agree with alot of your views but of course I beg to differ with them too here my list similar but different from yours. 13. Zombies H2 12. Resurrection 11. Zombies H1 10. Halloween 5 9. H20 8. Halloween 6 7. Kills 6. Halloween 3 5. Ends 4. Halloween 4 3. Halloween 2 2. Halloween 2018 1. Halloween

Halloween Kills (2021) 2. Halloween 2 (1981) 1. Halloween (1978) Sean this is my opinion on the Halloween Films
Hey Sean, thanks for sharing your thoughts on my favorite franchise! This is my own personal ranking of the Halloween films: 13.) Halloween: Resurrection 12.) Halloween II (2009) 11.) Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers 10.) Halloween Ends 9.) Halloween (2007) 8.) Halloween H20: 20 Years Later 7.) Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers 6.) Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers 5.) Halloween (2018) 4.) Halloween Kills 3.) Halloween III: Season of the Witch 2.) Halloween II (1981) 1.) Halloween (1978)
The note I would like to make with the top 4 is they are the first 4 in each segment of the real series (zombie excluded) and hiw the sequels in those timeliness never measured up.
Sean idk if you have, and if so can you. Rank the most popular horror franchises such as Halloween, friday the 13th, child’s play, nightmare on elm street, etc
Ends was amazing man I don’t understand the hate. I like good horror flicks, I think some people are just a bit obsessed with myers. Kills had PLENTY of myers killing and I did not need much more. Ends will go down like season of the witch, 10 years from now people will be saying it’s an incredible horror film. (Which it is)

Soon on October 31st (Halloween) we are going to get 33 on 31: Slashers Editions. So that includes Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th in one BIG ranking. 🎃
I remember seeing Resurrection in Theaters, when Laurie was killed so many people left the theater and one person threw a soda at the middle of the screen. Deff the worst in the franchise, you can literally say no matter what when it comes to resurrection it can’t get much worse. It literally sets the bar below the ground!

Some love for Halloween 4, thank you! It’s in my top 4 as well. Unsure of the exact ranking, but the original is unquestionably #1!
🔪 🎃🤩 I LOVE the Halloween franchise. It explores traits of the most insane human ever. Into the most-iconic movie character. Halloween (H20) being Jamie’s death, the END. It separates from previous Halloweens. To Dimensions for analytical humans, it’s OUR FAVORITE. Otherwise, the few masks were a goofy Easter egg hunt. Of course bad to ppl, ‘cause it doesn’t match the core one. Although, if I was alive to see a Halloween just display. I’d say NEW MASK?? New MASTERPIECE!! Which turned out to be H20’s nostalgia. Let the history, shine!

For me, I have a really different list but will still explain why: 13 - Halloween 5: this is not a horror movie, it is a joke 12 - Halloween 3: as a movie itself, good. As a Halloween movie, meh 11 - Halloween 6: it’s ok, but I’d rather watch others 10 - Halloween 4: it was nice seeing Dr loomis again, but just mid all around 9 - Halloween 2: it’s a pretty solid sequel to the original, but could’ve been better 8 - Halloween Resurrection: I love the idea of people exploring the Myers house on Halloween night, but found it pretty funny and stupid 7 - Halloween 2 (rob zombie): solid sequel to his original and I see some creative ideas, but was still alright 6 - Halloween: I really like the original and love seeing where it all started 5 - Halloween H20: I love the idea of a sequel taking place 20 years later with having Jamie lee Curtis come back and they executed that well 4 - Halloween (2007) - I really do love rob zombies take on Halloween and love that this explained more of Michael’s backstory. Speaking of which, the Michael Myers in this is so scary and is one of my favorites 3 - Halloween kills: having the town wanting to kill Michael Myers and working worked and like that Michael had to fight everyone 2 - Halloween ends: for me, this ending was worth the whole film and wouldn’t mind watching again 1 - Halloween (2018): I think it is the best because Jamie lee Curtis comes back as Laurie, Michael is scarier and more dangerous and even though the doctor doesn’t look the same, I was really happy with them bringing the character in this timeline. So for me this comes in at #1 My list could change in the future, so try not to get too mad at me lol

I liked Ends a lot more. Also the theatrical cut to Rob Zombie’s first movie is a lot better to watch. Not having the unnecessary rape scene made me enjoy it a good deal more than the first time I watched it with the directors cut.

I like the directors cut more cuz it fleshes out the characters little more, like Laurie’s parents for example
@dannyschulz9016

@@joeertman I definitely like aspects of the directors cut more that the theatrical. For instance I feel like they have a little more time in the directors cut to show Loomis’s relationship with Michael during the second act in the mental hospital. I just got severely turned off by the rape escape scene, especially since it was so unnecessary. I think if they just had the original escape in the directors cut then that would be the best version of the film.

Perhaps someone could edit "ends" with Michael being a figment of Corey's imagination, and that final scene is Corey fighting Laurie in the kitchen. That way the shape is still missing, and another movie could eventually be made

Unfortunately I have the agree with what you mean about Ends. Watching this I couldn’t believe that so many people looked at this movie and said this was a good ending to their trilogy
21:51 the music scared me so much
I haven’t seen all the Halloween movies yet but here are my thoughts on the entries that I have seen: Halloween (1978): classic horror film that spawned the sub genre of slasher, with its eerie atmosphere and suspense, excellent directing, and iconic score from John Carpenter. The simplicity of the plot and characters utilized from a shoestring budget remains as one of the most impressive feats in any movie I’ve seen. Imo this is the best depiction of Michael Myers, he’s genuinely terrifying, mysterious, and is pure evil, the perfect embodiment of the bogeymen. Halloween 2 (1981): A solid sequel that picks up right after the first movie despite being released 3 yrs after. Thanks to the higher budget, the kills are much more brutal and bloodier, I like the claustrophobic setting of the hospital, it’s less retrained like the original and more visceral, and the remix of the score is actually pretty good. This sequel however can be a drag at times with Laurie Strode being a mostly passive character tied into hospital bed, it was over-the-top and corny at time, and it’s very much a 1980s horror movie that haven’t aged well. Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007): a modern remake that is good in the first half with a retelling that shows Michael Myers’ abusive childhood, the trauma, the hatred and mental issues he’s developed, and his time at the Smith Grove’a hospital with Dr. Loomis was all great stuff that actually adds to the backstory. Unfortunately everything else just falls flat, from the second half being a near shot-for-shot remake with no new surprises, excessive use of F bombs, gratuitous nudity and sex scenes, gory violence, and a kind of misanthropic tone that makes it hard to watch at times. Imo it has many of the things that is wrong with modern horror. Halloween (2018): despite it being the fourth reboot of the franchise, and having the same title name as the original and 2007 remake, this was still an enjoyable movie. Its sorta like an action horror film with an older Laurie whose suffering from PSTD having to face off against Michael one last time. The violence is brutal and effective without it being too indulgent or bloody, the characters are somewhat likable, fan service and callbacks were nice to see and this is the best modern depiction of Michael Myers, ditching the supernatural elements or tragic backstory in favor of a Michael that’s an evil force of nature. This movie does get too heavy with the fan service at times and I wasn’t a big fan of all the retconning.

Halloween "Ends" in the most confusing and dull way possible to Green's trilogy of Halloween films
Curse of Michael Myers will always have a special place in my heart, regardless of its quality. It was the first adult horror movie I ever watched when I was like 10 or 11. I saw the VHS cover at a movie rental place and begged my dad to rent it for me. I still rank it above Resurrection, the latest trilogy, and both Rob Zombie flicks. Sue me lol.
