Yeah Aljo actually is a great guy. Kinda was forced to play into the heel role but honestly in hindsight this really helped his popularity alot. People may have watched his fights to see him lose but they did watch his fights. Also i always thought it was fair for him to play off the illegal knee like that. The reff should have made a clear call after the foul and never force that desicion onto the athlete in the first place but he was afraid to do his job and call off the fight himself. Instead he expected Aljo to just let Yan get away with it and continue as if nothing happened which is completely absurd.

The dude was genuinely happy for omalley. I honestly think he is relieved that his title run is over. Of course he wanted to win, but its pretty clear that a weight has been lifted off his shoulders. Now that he isnt on top he wont get as much hate and disrespect as before(although there will always be disgruntled haters). And i believe the hate/disrespect bothered him more than he let off. He is such a good genuine dude and i think it just baffled him why he got so much hate. Now he doesnt have to play the out of character heel.

I’ve been a fan of yours, Aljo, for many years. Defended you and showed my support for you through everything. Because I recognized the type of man you were from the early fights. It’s great to see MMA fans come around to you but sad it had to be from a title loss. A loss you could’ve certainly won. But all the credit to Sean O’Malley. As a fan of the sport in general it’s hard not to be happy for his come up. You’re a bantamweight 🐐 Aljo, you’ve been through tough losses before and tougher wins as well. No doubt in my mind you will come back with a vengeance and make another run. It is a shame the UFC has to hesitate in giving you an immediate rematch. It’s disrespectful. Dana didn’t seem to show any sympathy at all and commented on the Pizza instead.. You could tell for weeks leading up to this fight they wanted Sean to win. You shouldn’t have to “hope” for a rematch after what you’ve accomplished. Those accomplishments can never be undone so stay in high spirits champ.
