Let’s be honest. There is no one on the planet to compare with Alison Krauss

I have met Allison twice and let me tell you, she is the most down to earth sweet real person you’ll ever meet. She loves her fans dearly and when you talk to her face-to-face, you know she means everything she tells you when there’s no BS after you talk with her a little bit, she kind of reminds you of your neighbor next-door. She has got so much talent that she could be a snob nose if she wanted to be, but she chooses not. I’ve met a lot of well plenty of musicians and such and I can tell you also, all her band mates, in union station are the same. What a tribute to Bluegrass music and just to the human element they are.

Just rediscovered this song. I guess I’m 20 years older from when I bought the album when it first came out. What I can really appreciate now, as others have commented, is how perfectly balanced and seamless all the components of this song are. Dobro, mandolin, Guitar, bass, violin, lead and back up vocals. Every little moment and nuance seems perfectly complementary to the moment before, The moment after, and the whole. E.g. at 2:22 The backup singers do a little “whoa-oh” behind Allison’s chorus that they don’t do anywhere else in the song. It’s a really nice little bit that perks up the chorus after its been heard a number of times already. I feel like throughout the song they are adding new clicks on the instruments or new backup vocals to ensure that the song is progressing from start to finish and not getting repetitive even as the chorus and verse structure repeats. Just awesome musicality to me.

Every once in a while natural talent comes along. Two of my favorites in this band, Miss Alison herself and Jerry Douglas on the dobro. I was introduced to the music of AKUS while working weekends at a classic Country station in the 90's. Her Foundations cover, "Baby Now That I Found You" was working up the charts on our big FM Top 40 Country competitor at the time.

As I've watched Alison Krauss through the years I become more and more puzzled. I can kind of understand how she just gets better and better at her music, I guess that comes with practice. But how does she get more and more beautiful every year?

Honey, I know you've been alone some, Why don't you 'phone some, 'cause I love you. An' honey, I know I've been away some, I've had to pay some and you have too. But the one thing I know: that when I, I turn out the light, Visions of you, dear, dance in the night. I've been put down, pushed around, apprehended and led down town. An' I can't help it if I'm out of sight, 'Cause I'm restless tonight. I just can't stand bein' alone. Gonna have to change that some day. There's a restless feelin' in my bones an' I know, That at times, it just won't go away. So if it's all the same, honey, I can't take the blame, baby, I can't play your game, honey, what's true is true. And if, in the end, the temptation wears you thin, honey, I'll, I'll just pretend that I'll leave it up to you. But the one thing I know: that when I, I turn out the light, Visions of you, dear, dance in the night. I've been put down, pushed around, apprehended andled down town. Can't help it if I'm full of fire. But the one thing I know: that when I, I turn out the light, Visions of you, dear, dance in the night. I've been put down, pushed around, apprehended and led down town. An' I can't help it if I'm out of sight, 'Cause I'm restless tonight.

I've been a die hard follower of Allison since she was very young. I'm sad to see that she thinks she needs so much makeup. It makes women look so fake. She should have stuck with her roots and never teamed up with Robert Plant or made Windy City. I'm glad that Dan and Ron have stayed pretty true to themselves however...and so has Jerry.

Wholeheartedly disagree..I am happy she recorded Windy City and especially Raising Sand with Robert Plant as that imo is one of the great albums of all time. And also a true artist doesn't stand still but follows their artistic impulses.
