I had a special needs child and when he was still alive he loved me singing to him. He was limited on what he could do the only word he could say is Mama. The smile on your face let's me know that you need me.He loved music and I think of him evertime I listen to this song and I can see his face with that million dollar smile and him reaching up to touch my hand. While very beautiful and a day I will never ever forget, I do regret not being able to dance with my love to this beautiful song. Yes she does! Reminds me of my girlfriend of 2 years who passed in 2007 from a heart attack. She was the only one who truly showed me just how much someone can love a person. This was one of the songs we first danced to she loved bluegrass. This song makes me think of her so much. I was in Streamwood Mental Hospital near Chicago in 2019. I met an amazing friend there. We got an hour to sing and listen to our favorite songs and say what they mean to us. That friend sang this song, without once looking at the group of people sitting in the room, completely alone in her own world. It was one of the most mesmerizing moments I had ever witnessed. She let go of everything. All her pain and heartache. Gone. When I say I've never heard an angel sing before, it was that day I knew they really existed. It left the entire room either in complete awe of what they were witnessing or like me in tears because I had never heard something so beautiful and angelic before and it touch so deep in my heart that I lived there in that moment for what seemed like forever. I'll never forget it for as long as I live. I listen to this song and think of that moment and I go back to that place and I think of her hoping that she is better. It was incredible. She’s a song bird, her voice is so articulate and pitch perfect, and can soar to heights not even imagined. I listened to her CDs almost constantly for 3-4 years straight, and never tired of compositions, the arrangements, the engineering, the mastering or production. She and Union Station are insanely good, more likely just flat out awesome.

I grew up on 80s Top 40 music and still count Prince and Madonna as my all-time favourite artists, yet if forced to pick my favourite ballad I always come back to Alison Krauss’ drop-dead gorgeous cover of ‘When You Say Nothing At All”. Practically moves me to tears every time I hear it.

A beautiful voice that pulls at your heart strings. A favourite of mine.

My cat's dying of lymphoma and this is our song. Will always make me cry. He's my soulmate :'(
