    Dear Teacher Jennifer, The video lesson about the meaning and usage of the 2 common confused words " alike and like " is stupendous. You have well explained the grammar structure of the 2 words. Now, I am feeling confident of how to properly use them in my daily writing. Overall, may I praise you as an ingenious teacher. Thanking you for your continued support in providing us with valuable video lessons that enrich our English. You are Great. All the best, Fazil

    Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco and 25 de Abril Bridge, Lisbon, Portugal look alike. We visited the geothermal features like hot springs, mud volcanoes and geysers in Yellowstone National Park last summer. Old Faithful Geyser is the world’s best known geyser. It erupts faithfully at regular intervals. The “Grand Canyon” of the Yellowstone looks like the Grand Canyon in Arizona, but it is not as big as the Arizona Canyon.

    Those are good word to contrast. prolong = lengthen the time elongate = physically make longer lengthen = literally (lengthen a strap) or in an abstract sense (lengthen the school year) drag out = make an event last longer than necessary or what is desired enlarge = make physically bigger (enlarge an image) expand = make bigger, and offer broader (often figuratively >> expand one's business, expand one's mind) extend = make longer in time or length as needed (extend your arm, extend the work day)

    If you're concerned about something or someone, then you worry about this. For example, I can concerned about rising crime in my country. This means crime worries me. If you concern yourself with something, then you take an interest in that matter. You'll see examples of "concerned with" in the news or in business. It's about naming issues or aspects of issues that are important. Example: "We are not focusing on the Cambridge Analytica issue, we're concerned with the consumer protection aspect of it." ctmirror.org/2018/04/08/jepsen-wants-answers-facebook/

    Hello Jennifer, i hope u r fine and always in a good health. i can feel how massive responsibility u r carrying teaching all those students around the world because u r the most generous woman i`ve ever seen. i`m an ADD woman i used to be an ADHD child but neither my parents nor my teachers could understand my case ,( so i went through my studies struggling all my life to learn anything new( i hope u have listened about this before) so now i`m upper intermediate (B2) according to CEFR but i need to reach (C2) level but i`m so confused ,and as i mentioned i`m an ADD, so i find great difficulty to focus especially when the things which i`ve to learn are too much and i don't know from where to start or what is the idol plan i should stick to, to be able to raise my level. i`m a wife and a mother i`ve so much responsibilities during the day but if i have a specific organized plan, i can makeit with my own and also u can kindly tell me the names of the right resources i should study from and from where to start and how to plan my studies to be able to reach my goal. p.s I don't have the financial ability to take private sessions or even go to any courses in my country. I hope i`m not bothering u with my request and u should know that i`ll still be so grateful if u couldn't` fullfil my request. Thanks alot in advance

    Hello. I understand the challenges a person faces when they have ADD/ADHD. Thankfully, there's more awareness today than there was in the past, so more children are getting support in schools. Having good study habits and good conditions is important for everyone, but especially those with attention issues (children and adults alike). Don't create long study sessions. Take breaks and remove distractions from around you when you sit back down to study. (Sit, lie down, whatever position works for you.) You can use any of my playlists that interest you. englishwithjennifer.com/students/yt-videos/ If it's a long video, you can break it in half, but try to watch it all in one day. Post questions when you have them. Review by watching a lesson for a second time. Include some "fun" practice, like listening to songs or short stories. It's okay if you're not always fully focused on the words. Just hearing the English as you do some other task like driving, walking, cleaning, etc. is a good thing. Good luck!

    Try to avoid using similar sounding words that could cause confusion. I'd suggest changing "like" to "love." Also, "alike" for emphasis isn't so common in everyday, informal conversation. It would be more common to use "both" >> I love both my mother and my father.

  • @Englishwithjennifer

    @Englishwithjennifer

    4 жыл бұрын

    We can use "like" to mean "such as." Again, if a noun or gerund follows, then it's functioning as a preposition. Even if you're stuck at home, there are many ways to stay active, like doing yoga or riding an exercise bike. Everyone should cut down on unhealthy foods like potato chips and processed meats.
