    Thank you. I'd been trying to figure out how to do this and wondered if a trick like this might work. Of course, if Cricut put more thought and effort into Design Space then these workarounds wouldn't be necessary.

    Thank you, makes a difficult task easy. Just curious for example I did use this method. I did notice if you decide to 'mirror' your engraving and then go to engrave it moves the dummy shape on mat, is there a work around for that ? Thank you again, enjoy your tutorials.

    Thank you. Only suggestion is to remind people what units you have your canvas set to , inches. Apart from USA and 3-4 other countries the set of the world used metric. I did get a blank misplaced because I hadn't realised this initially.

    I recommend everyone use imperial units for this process because that's what the margins and mat grid are based on.

    @@cleversomeday, when you out the blue part over the design @3:04 - is that also screen magic (a semi transparent shape you just overlayed ) or is that a thing you can do in Design space.

  • @cleversomeday

    @cleversomeday

    8 ай бұрын

    @@juliebadger6493 that was video magic, too. You can't put a transparent shape on the prepare screen in DS, but you can put a hollow shape if you attach the target shape set to draw to a separate dummy shape and then send it to a different mat, then move it to the first mat and butt it up to the upper left. Not sure that is worth the trouble, but it is an option.

    @@bkkorner if you are guessing at the size of the tags, then this process isn't going to work. As shown starting around 1:15 in the video, you need a shape that matches the exact size and shape of your blank. Everything else depends on that.

    I watched the video at least 5 times, took notes and can't figure out why when I get to the last step Select All to bring in the dummy circle I don't get the choice to then turn off the blank shape, When you attach there doesn't seem to be a way to separate in order to grab the blank circle. Is there a step out of order? Thanks~

    Click the small triangle next to the attached set to expand the set (which DS has just recently started condensing by default) and then you can click the eye on the blank's layer.

    The instructions in the video are for placing the blank at 1,1. If you want to place at 3,3, use x= 3, y=3 when you get to the placement of the blank at around 2:10 on the video.

    This will work for Joy, except that the position of the dummy shape would be x=.125 and y=.125” because the margin is smaller on the smaller machine.
