Alienware AW3423DW review with PS5
Ғылым және технология
PS5 tested on the Alienware AW3423DW QD-OLED Monitor
I noted in my original video that I didn't have a PS5 to test with and the info I did find showed that it was kind of hit or miss. After an update from Sony in September enabled 1440p support, I'm excited to finally be able to play console games on this monitor!
If you have suggestions for future videos or want to see other titles on this monitor, drop a comment and let me know! If I own it, I might do a short video about it!

Almost all of your burn-in comments come off more as paranoia than valid criticism. The monitor comes with a 3 year warranty including burn-in so you have 3 years to be completely worry-free in this regard.
@TechnologyMindset

That’s true though my plan is to take care of it because it looks so good. 3 year warranty or not, that’s putting trust in Dell that I’d get a brand new panel as a replacement instead of the runaround and a refurbished panel. Worst case the option is there, but qd-oled is still newer so I don’t think the full burn in potential is fully known.

Fking finally. Someone tested this monitor with a ps5. Thank you!!!! Unfortunately your HDR side by sides don't work because your video isn't formatted to display HDR. So we don't see the actual massive difference in brightness vs the non HDR displays.

I did not film in HDR. The point is that I always see people say you can’t see the difference on camera so it was always frustrating for me to watch videos about HDR displays. So side by side video you can see a difference (even if it’s better in-person) so that’s what I wanted to highlight in my video.

That's the reason I prefer a Mini LED monitor, I don't want to constantly worry about turning my monitor off when I walk away or making sure I don't have any task bars open. It just seems really annoying. I have the Cooler Master GP27U and it's fantastic because I don't have to worry about burn in. I don't really have issues with haloing or blooming on it, It's still there but very minimal to my eyes. I'm hoping for some 32 inch options later in the year.
@TechnologyMindset

Yeah I had wanted one of those originally, but it seemed to me like the trade off was extra resolution I didn't really need costing performance. Maybe it's different now, but I'm comfortable with the 1440p resolution, if they can just bring that tech to 1440p panels that would be great.

If it is any consolation to your burn in paranoia, I have had this monitor since last July and I leave it on all the time where discord covers half the screen on the desktop (something about how if discord is focused the windows won’t shut off the monitor). I am talking probably almost a hundred hours of this. I also do not hide task bar and afk in games quite often. Have fun with burn in. Seen far to many people do this and burn it in, its literally useless to get an OLED for office applications and work. Even if you do play games, its better to get a separate monitor for work related activities. Linus, the other guy in the vid, and tons of idiots on reddit all burned their OLEDs in doing this.

Depends on what you mean by 'support'. Can it output to an ultrawide monitor? yes. Does it output at an ultrawide resolution? no. I have black bars on the left and right side of my screen when I play PS5 on this monitor because it outputs to a 16x9 resolution.

Weird people talk so much about burn in, but I've had an LG C2 42inch for over a year and never had any issues with Burn In. I think its a good catch phrase to use but now days pixel and panel refresh is so good that its not even an issue anymore. I always put my PC to sleep when I'm away and with a console its not even an issue. I'm assuming a monitor is even more better at handling burn in as its an actual monitor.

Don't use it with a PS5, I did this and burned in the aspect ratio, no amount of panel or pixel refreshes will save it either as the pixels in the middle if used enough will simply be far dimmer than those that are off at the edges as they will essentially be newer. Remember, OLEDs burn in due to uneven pixel usage, and seeing as the pixels on the sides are off it leaves those in the middle forming the aspect ratio on and they get dimmer each second that passes. Think of OLEDs like candles, they get dimmer/shorter over time, the ones that are not lit will remain tall and once lit will be brighter than the ones that are now used. It all just takes some time.

@@abhishekab1 How do you not understand? Do you really have no idea what burn in is or how it works? Burn in is uneven usage of pixels... That's it. So in the case of an aspect ratio the pixels forming it will be on and getting dimmer over time ( OLED pixels get dimmer every second that they are on ) and the ones that are off ( the black bars ) will not be getting dimmer. You do this long enough and you can burn in the aspect ratio. Gamers will drop like 100hrs+ in games and thats 100hrs+ without those pixels being on.
