Fr, even as a human is scary how fast we are burning through stages of technology to the point quantum computers were just a theory a few decades ago
There are so many horror movies where the "super perfect apex predator Alien" takes over earth and slaughters the humans so it's fun to see a "humans are feral beasts, ungovernable and undefeatable" approach. Edit since people seem to not understand= I meant humans like us. Today. Aliens come to earth and we year 2024 humans turn out to be ungovernable and undefeatable savages. Not humans being some space Monsters or galactic emperors. Just us plain Ole humans agains huggkx civilized Alien conquerors

I don't remember the book my professor mentioned but it is a book that focuses on an Alien Species that focuses on space travel and they build a Galactic Empire and come across Earth, and they invade us but quickly find out they weren't prepared. Since they focused their time and effort in space travel, they didn't focus much on weapons, while the human species have devolved most of their time making more devastating weapons to kill each other. After the aliens surrender, they realized they just gave the most violent and dangerous species in the galaxy intergalactic space travel. Essentially, we are space orks.

@@1001011011010 of course but, if they didn't wish peace then they'd likely just kill us all instantly, they have the technology to do so after all, keeping us as slaves would be illogical and eating us pretty much pointless, I mean there's many better species for consumption on earth that they could just mass-produce, logically speaking for such a species there'd be no reason to keep us alive other then maybe for entertainment. likely it would be a peaceful interaction or an incredibly quick genocide, beating any previous records humanity ever has set.
One of the proposed answers to the Fermi Paradox is that humanity is the first intelligent species to arise, at least in our galaxy. So we could quite literally be the ones born to inherit the stars.

I remember reading an interesting idea (can’t recall where) that suggested humans ARE the hyper-aggressive conquering aliens that media depicts us as facing against. We’re entirely geared for war against one another, we’ve been shown to disregard “lesser” species (such as not caring about the ecosystem of an entire rainforest so we can create more farming land), and demonstrate an intrinsic desire to compete against one another. Who is to say that alien life even understands the concept of competition for survival. Everyone depicts us as waving the banner of peace in an intergalactic community when we can’t even resolve a simple conflict in the Middle East. We ARE the boogeymen of the universe.

this reminds me of that one green text which described how humans are persistence hunters. Meaning, what gave us an edge over other animals was not intelligence, but extreme persistence and ability to keep going. We basically hunted by running down our prey, exhausting them until they dropped and got killed. Because we aren't actually very intelligent or rational, and our senses often fool us. We can't see most things, and our memory and intellectual capacity is limited and inaccurate at best. We are also extremely emotional. An interstellar alien species would be likely much smarter than us. What gives us an edge, what we specifically evolved, was our willpower and persistence. The human body is incredibly resilient. In fact, most species on planet earth can be defined by their sheer resilience. If aliens eve studied earth, they would describe it as having very resilient species, rather than intelligent ones. We got where we are now because we stepped away from mere resilience, you're not writing with electric rocks tricked into thinking because we were persistent. You're doing so because we tried to use our brains to overcome what the body couldn't. There is no amount of persistence that'll save you from an aneurysm. I wish we could just look at it like it is instead of mythologising one dude who discovered penicillin or cowering in a cultural corner because the internet has convinced some 60 year old guy the world ends with tattoos. Give it 5 years and it's gonna be gone. Replaced by the nth installment of "apophis is coming the world is ending", then we'll just blow it up, and it'll be the indomitable spirit again, and then it'll be the crispr crisis, and on and on and on.
