    Due to the filming taking place in south east Asia, its got me thinking that the show could be about the Yutani corporation. Perhaps they got a head start on Weyland, and as part of some secretive research and exploration came across the xenomorphs. This would explain why it all seems new to Weyland in Prometheus.

    A great point. The other rival company in the series is not Yutani, not in name yet at least, yet. But you make me think maybe we see the emergence of this company somehow through the rival faction going against Weyland in their technology war. I know many people are wary of this series but for me it has so much opportunity to explore this early world.

    Dropping the retro-future setting is good, I can just see many making links between Blade Runner as some already have, with the opening shots of the atmosphere processor from Romulus. Not a bad thing. Also I don't get why people follow the idea of David creating the Xenomorph, when in Prometheus, a xeno is pulling the crucifix pose on mural in one of the ships chambers, so to me it is established, David is working off the back of the engineers or their work of using xenomorphs as a weapon, although many dislike Aliens: Colonial Marines, the one point that hit me in the game was the hologram in the pilots room of the derelict showing two ships fighting, now those two ships, one is obviously the Horse Shoe variant of the Engineer ship, while the other is ANOTHER Engineer ship, the same oval type seen leaving Earth at the start of Prometheus. So my take is at some point there was a possible civil war of the Engineers, ones who seeded life around the galaxy and those that were more militaristic and conquered/destroyed said life in the galaxy. Who would make use of xenos? The militarized Engineers, implementing them on planets to conquer then using the black goo that David uses on Planet 4 in Covenant to rid it of said xenomorphs. I've thought about this and many more that links the movies deeply more together, as you stated, the Space Jockey in Alien is a mystery still, we know of the engineers but this one on LV-426 just rubs off different.

    Loved reading your comment as it is something that has been weighing on my mind for a while now. I didn't like colonial marines too much as a game but was blown away by that historical sequence depicting contention between the species, a civil war as you say. It needs exploring by greater minds than mine obviously but is something that relates to humanity's biggest question of are we alone? Silly as it sounds, it feels important to explore this aspect of the franchise. I find that games ask these important questions by throwing in these elements but only the films and TV shows are truly able to explore these details in depth.

    @@ENTERTAINtheDUDE there is always something subtle in each film that can be found that leads into the lore being expanded, such as Wey-Yu actually being named as the company in Alien but spelled as Weylan-Yutani, until James Cameron came along and added the D. Two things trouble me about this show.. I think it’s crazy there was no communication between Hawley and Alvarez throwing ideas about just even for a little throw away connection or continuity, And the other thing is why set it in a pre established part of the time line that would bring the creatures into human contact only for us to know nothing can happen that would leave a footprint in the existing films.. just set it after the films and then you don’t need to work in lore bending gymnastics or messing up cannon… I do hope this show is something special but I just can’t shake the feeling they are limiting their story by setting it on Earth (mostly) before the films timelines.

    Totally agreed. Creators seem reluctant to move the story FORWARD, as the last non-prequel entry we got in the franchise was in 1997. Setting it on Earth pre-Alien messes with the timeline, but is also just a boring choice imo - I wish they would remember that the intrigue of the original film is the mystery and actual "alien-ness" of coming across these lifeforms on some random, remote planet where nobody has lived for thousands of years.

    @@CalebTizon The part that does give me some positive feeling is when Noah talked about the threat of being trapped on a spaceship with it. My idea for an alien tv-series is as follows: It takes places just before the events in the first alien movie and happens on a planet near where the nostromo spaceship is shipping ore.Weyland-Yutani is on the planet and have terraformed it for years,when they discovers a cave with lots of xenomorph eggs. One of them get's infected and a xenomorph is born. It turns out to be a queen,and a lot of the Weyland-Yutani humans are infected and then a war breaks out.All the humans on the planet are wiped out and only a few manage to escape in a spaceship.Then they nuke the planet from orbit. Then Weyland-Yutani regrets the decision and a hunt for the xenomorph begins.They get a tip that there's a crashed spaceship on lv426 and sends the robot Ash on the Nostromo spaceship.But they are informed that the mission has failed and that Nostromo has gone missing.Then Weyland-Yutani get's a tip about an xenomorph on Fiorina161 and sends a team of researchers there.They finds a surviving prisoner that is impreagnated and a queen is born. Weyland-Yutani then wants to use the xenomorphs on the planets where the engineers are located because they want the technology to seed planets with life. They also want the elixir that provides humans with prolongued life.After they have managed to give birth to a flock of xenomorphs,they drops them on an engineer planet and causes everyone of them to die.Then they get hold of the blue elixir that gives prolongued life.But several ships with engineers that where away from their planet when Weyland-Yutani wiped the population out,pursue them and manages to get the elixir back,but gets trapped on the planet where both parties crash.Then a battle takes place and the crew from Weyland-Yutani gets the elixir that gives them prolongued life for thousands of years,but they are now trapped on the planet,with no means to get anywhere.But then they see a light aproaching,but is the spaceship friends or foes ?

    But I think that we have to look at the TV series as its own separate alternative Canon and try to enjoy it for what it is like AVP (Video Games, Comic Books mainly). I do fear that after the 2 seasons the Xenomorph will be watered down and no longer as menacing. That's what happens when you get a Monster over and over... Jason, Frankenstein, Zombies. Now Werewolves and Vampires are more versatile.... but would making the Xenomorph intelligent with a Sinister Agenda rather than the Natural Instinct to Kill and Procreate work?

  • @davebear9825
    @davebear9825Ай бұрын

    Regarding the Xenomorph i would be more on the side that they are Engineered as the Face Huggers are Perfect for a Humanoid Face. It will be interesting to see how they tackle the Xenomorph Origins in the Show..... does it introduce the Queen again? Or is Noah planning on looking at the Original Roots of O'Bannons Star Beast? But would exploring the Xenomorph as a somewhat intelligent and civilized of sorts Race be fine? Does it give us Biomechanical Xenomorph Warships and the like? Would that basically just give us Star Ship Troopers? Looking past the Xenomorph, its whatever else the TV show wishes to bring that could make or break it. The advantage with a TV show is you don't have to cram all these Elements into a 2hr Movie. Prometheus was Bold... if this was a 10-12 Episode (45 Min) TV show then you could have fleshed things out...... the lack of Xenomorphs was a Problem for some Fans... but its biggest problem was a Bold Plot that a 2hr Movie could not do justice and so for Pacing a lot of details had to be bypassed

I was not a fan of the direction that Prometheus took in trying to explain the mystery and downplay the ‘life form’. Perhaps it was down to execution but it felt wrong to me. I understand why it was attempted but it never sat right with me. I am very positive about the series as rate Hawley and like the comments he is made. After the TV series, then what... A theme park, an ill-conceived Alien-themed hotel? I am being humorous here, so no hate, that's not my style. I work on the peripheries of the film industry in that I make armour for cinema etc and I think a LOT can be learned from the destruction of Star Wars. A franchise as delicate as Alien must be treated just as DeBeers manage the diamond industry. Diamonds are only valuable because their distribution is very carefully controlled. If all the diamonds currently mined were released, the value of each would crash... And ultimately cease to be cherished. All ya’ll annoying about there being xenomorphs or androids in the show. I’m looking forward to what this universe has to offer because it has developed something fascinating. Frankly i don’t want the xeno being a burnt out monster. We’ve discovered other life out there now what about creating life? The androids adds another philosophical layer of life to the franchise. To be honest both the xeno and android compliment each other on that spectrum. This whole alien universe has a lot to offer in exploration, and i’d rather not see our beloved perfect specimen turn into some cash grabbing audience pleaser. Keep it sparse and the series will have longevity.

    Personally I don't want a TV series. Alien is only for the big screen. These other variants only dilute the franchise. Even the bad Alien movies flopped better on the cinema format. TV is the last refuge for the dying franchise...look at the Star Wars stuff...with few exceptions. Even the Marvel venture into the small screen had limited appeal. Leave the Alien stuff alone. The Romulus teasers seem promising...but I'll hold my review until release date?? This could still be a possible dud.....but,my fingers are crossed. Enjoy the channel..always appreciate valid information and different overviews..Thanks.

    I’m concerned that the tv show will become small in scope quickly. We will be introduced to big concepts and a big world but then immediately follow a very small sliver of this world, in small set pieces/sound stages, and a handful of people passing through the bigger picture in episodic fashion. Some recent Star Wars shows like obi-wan and mandalorian did this…you could feel the limited space and maybe 20-30 extras on a set, like an expensive broadway play. I’m not commenting on the quality of their content, just that you could ‘feel’ the tv show aspect and it’s tiny piece in a larger puzzle you wish you could see.

  • @ENTERTAINtheDUDE

    I completely agree when it comes to star wars, well, except Andor. Yes, a show is never going to feel as cinematic and also the feeling you describe of it being watered down to living room quality is a sad truth but part of me just keeps thinking "just give me more content". At least until we know what they can do of course. With Star Wars I said "stop making more content" after Obi Wan. ;)

    I hate everything about this show. Say what you want about the prequels (I love them). But retconning things and messing up the timeline always sucks. Now Alien turns into Terminator. He just could have set his earth story post Alien 3....

  • @ENTERTAINtheDUDE

    @ENTERTAINtheDUDE

    I completely understand your concerns. You could argue in some ways that Ridley's prequels changed things in many ways so the same issues are present there in terms of retconning. I liked Prometheus much more than Covenant and enjoyed them both really but there were things about both I can never forgive. However, I am always willing to accept other attempts from film makers to give it another go and try something new, as long as they have respect for what came before.

    The Problem with the Xenomorph is that as it is, it is very limited. Once we have been thrown multiple Xenomorphs, its what is NEXT? As all we would have is something that while not as Limited as Zombies, but we get basically a Space Jason Voorhees instead... multiple Jasons... It will be the other aspects of the TV series that will see the TV series sink or swim. The Walking Dead was a success because the Zombies played like a background Role.... while important at first. It was the other Human Threats that elevated that show.... So unless they uplift the Xenomorph then having series after series of Face Hugging, Chest Bursting and Snarling is just going to get repetitive and over saturate the Xenomorph
