Classic! The original is still the best.

I was 18 living in Edinburgh when Alien was released. My university friends and I went to a matinee at the Odeon theatre and were amazed. After the movie, they left while I stayed and hid under seats so the ushers couldn't see me before the next audience arrived. During the next showing, I spent most of the movie watching the audience's reactions. Probably the biggest response was when Tom Skerritt encounters the alien in the air duct system. At that point the entire audience went airborne, with most literally leaping out of the seats. I was amazed at the power of a movie to elicit reaction.

Alien was groundbreaking, it set the benchmark for horror science fiction

I saw ALIEN With my brother at the ODEON when I was 20, I was so impressed I went home and dragged mum and dad out to see it too. Took the wife to see ALIENS but the original is still No1 for me.

Alien(1979) was such a trailblazing film that it's impossible to replicate its success. To be honest, I don't think directors nowadays know how to treat a film like Alien. They either go too far in the direction of gore or in the other direction of action. The 1979 film is awesome because it struck that middle ground of being a sci-fi thriller with horror elements.

It's crazy that Ridley himself cannot capture the same magic and he did two prequels for it

Love that Howard Hanson music. I saw this film with my and I was about 11.

Saw it first-run at 11 years old, my dad secretly took us. Decades later, we learn the Jockey is just a tall bald guy in a suit, the mystery is ruined. Thanks, Ridley 🙄

That ruined it for me, I try not to think about that movie and see the jockey as another alien form.

Alien Romulus coming soon and a new tv series next year, the tv show is directed by Noah Hawley of fargo series, if it's as good as that, then we should be in for a treat. Fingers crossed.

Saw this back in 1979 with a new girlfriend… well no surprises to learn she dumped me shortly afterwards 😮… but I was hooked on this franchise and Ridley Scott; thank you chap. These movies have been kind of like a metronome that have “tick -tocked” throughout my life, acting as punctuation points and stepping stones. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Alien is fun compared to playing it in VR I had to rethink every choice I made in my life.

Its hard for other producers and directors to out do ALIEN and there are some good horror sci fi movies but ALIEN still holds the prize, there is nothing more spooky than the first sight and approach of the derelict ship,And the perfect creature for what your NIGHTMARES about waking up in sweat praying to the most high ohh im still living ,you know you have a great movie when the very actors, and actresses, pay for a ticket and be in the audience getting a nice load of the stress, and for the movie gore's at that time it may have ben way too much if ALIEN was there to take pics and sign ,autographs, awsom oooh wee!

I was in my mid 30s visting friends in Palm Desert, we were all supposed to go out for dinner but I had already eaten so I stayed behind in this condo, Alien was on HBO or Showtime, don't remember which and I sat there watching it in the dark. That movie scared me out of my mind, I had to stop watching it and when everyone returned home all the lights in the condo were on and I swear I remember checking closets, under beds, and behind doors. I watched the whole movie years later and it's one of my favorites a true classic by a genius, the storyline and editing were tight as a drum, too bad Ridley got desperate to repeat his feat by trying to explain the mystery of it all, instead he ruined the mystery, both of those were terrible movies not worth watching.

Where did this featurette originally come from? Any particular Blu-ray?

It’s on the Alien Anthology Blu-Ray set. Hell it’s probably on the Alien Quadrilogy DVD Box-Set too but don’t quote me on that.

How Ridley Scott could make ”Prometheus” and ”Alien Covenant” when he made this all years ago. Ruined it all. I pretend those movies doesn’t exist.
