I disagree. If you don't like the movie, you just didn't experience it right. The movie is beautiful, characters were beautiful, opening was intense, the fact that the movie is not interesting is subjective. Some of the best sci-fi movies ever (Space Odyssey etc.) are kinda boring, but that boringness can be artistic, just like is the case with Finchers's movie. Epicness doesn't mean good, it's just making people feel good, money, commercial. You will make video in 10 years, when you realize how good actually the movie is and say completely different things about this movie. But this movie needs experience. And time. Like jazz. ;)

event horizon - For me it’s not a question of epicness, but emotional engagement. The only character I care about is Ripley. Why should I feel even a flicker of emotion when a bunch of rapists and murderers are threatened with death? I FEARED for Newt and Bishop, I GRIEVED for the crew of the Nostromo, but these guys just leave me cold. I know that bleak films about terrible people, shot in interesting ways have their place, I studied plenty in film class... but to turn a story I loved into something like this feels more like a betrayal than anything.

Actually, it was a rod puppet that had its movements acted out in front of a blue-screen, which were then optically composited into the live action footage. It's actually a pretty cool idea (and the way that it moves is really creepy), but the images do not composite very well, and the puppet looks too tiny in the shot at 8:28. The creature is supposed to be 8 feet tall, right?

@@RealGateGuardian In the alternate version of Alien 3, you can see that Hicks’s chest was impaled by something after the crash. His head is a scarily lifelike model of Michael Biehn. Also, wouldn’t all soldiers wear their dog tags while in cryosleep precisely so they could be identified in case of death? And hundreds of years in the future, wouldn’t there likely be many other ways of properly IDing a dead body?

I once saw a interview with the actor who plays hicks (Michael Biehn)and he said he wanted to be in a partnership with Ripley. And maybe they might have there characters fall in love. He said he wanted to have his character live in alien 3 and then die in the movie later and have ripley mourn over him.

It's easier to say Ripley is crazy if she doesn't have any support though. You'd have to totally re-write the film.

That, it and makes no sense at all. Such as, how the hell did 1 Face Hugger get onto the ship, get into the cyropods without breaking the glass, impregnate Ripply with no marks or signs, get out, somehow got cut and sprayed acid, got moved with the pods to the escape ship, survive the landing, AND able to also impregnate a dog as well. Newt dying was piss poor, but pretty much everything in this movie sucked, and doesn't make sense in any fasion.

Dylan was such an MVP in this movie...always admired his courage and sacrifice!

Alien 3 is a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, I love the darker tone, filmmaking style, and the performances of the main cast (especially Weaver, who I think knocks it out of the park). I also love the return to a single alien and the more "slasher"-style horror. On the other, the effects for the Runner are nowhere near as good as they were for the Xenos in Alien and Aliens, the tone can be TOO dark at times, and the plot is a fucking mess. Seriously, a prison planet with no guns is horseshit. Overall, I definitely think it's better than people make it out to be (especially compared to the terrible, horrible, no-good Resurrection) but it's definitely a step down from the original duology. I'd personally give it a 6.5/10.

I cannot believe you did not include the "...Shit!!..." That was iconic

I know he never uses the directors cuts in these, but in the Assembly Cut Golic is the one who let the alien into the area where they are spreading the flamable liquid and is killed by it. In the theatrical cut, he's never seen again after Clemens' death. I guess you could add him the the 10 dead after the explosion though.

Alien 3 could never be made today way ballsy and probably the least fan-service film in any franchise period. That's why I love it.

The guy who directed District 9 Neil Blomwhatever was gonna do one as a sequel to Aliens and totally throw this one away. From what I read and saw of his few story boards it would have been great.

I’ve only seen the Assembly Cut, and I have to say I actually really like it. It gets straight to the action and drama, not having to wait half the movie before anything interesting happens. Even though I love Alien and Aliens, I love the second half of each of them and really could do without the first half of each. 3 kept me intrigued the whole time, and both Clemens and Dillon were fun characters that I can’t really say that Aliens really had.

You should have mentioned the bucket scene, it's such a brilliant set up for a payoff. You see the hot metal bucket quickly expand from the cooling shock it receives from the cold water sprinkled on it. When I first saw it I thought it was just a neat little detail about physics, just an extra shot because it looks neat. Well it informs a normie about the violent reaction of hot and cool temperatures meeting, and makes the Xenomorph killing scene more understandable for them

1:40 this is honestly one of the worst choices they could’ve made not only is newt dead but she died a slow probably horrifying death not just that they take her body to rub it in more then the cut it up which was deemed so gruesome that it was cut from the final product then they just burn them it’s like this was the same screne writer that though of those horrific child killing scenes from avp requiem

SkySlasher Clemmons said that she probably wasn't conscious when she drowned. Autopsy made perfect sense to avoid potential chest bursted. The cremation was for theater purposes to compare leadership qualities of Andrew's vs Dillon as well as the death of a host created a new life via alien

Great Kill Count! This movie seems more interesting in the kill count than when I watched it. The movie feels wrong after two amazing entries. The kill count managed to tell most of the plot without a lot of the stuff I didn't like in alien 3.

I'd say it's not as bad as its reputation, but it is definitely the low point of the series. Resurrection, I say I can at least enjoy more for the cornball nature of it.

You missed Goric. In this theatrical version, it's supposed to be Goric dragged up into the shaft by the Alien, in the Assembly Cut it's Clemens as Goric has his whole crazy Alien worship thing and releases it after they catch the bugger. So you missed one :*
