I think in a lot of ways Alicent did truly care for and love Viserys just not in a husband way. Viserys essentially kept her safe for years from her own father and he was never purposefully cruel to her. With V gone she realised that she was going to have to play a very complicated game to get her son on the throne and she didn’t want that.

The thing is that my allegiance is to the heir. Thus i am on rhaenyra’s side for her claim. Other than that, alicent did what she could and i would even argue she would be a good fit for the iron throne. Considering aegon didn’t want it, aemond was too ambitious like daemon, and she went through too much to just hand it over to rhaenyra. Greens did alot better than rhaenyra in asserting their claim. She alienated the other lords when they offered marriage to her and she was very irresponsible to not heed the advice of her father nor her aunt. She is in the position to strengthen her house and she still acts of her own desire.

@@notyetawomen5257 trust me i did the first time. As i did in game of thrones, i was about how i processed everything at first sight. Takes a few times and people like yourself to see it more closely. I am upset about her marrying her friend’s father but of course it wasn’t a choice.

Think what you will about Alicent; Olivia Cooke is a hell of an actress.
