Exactly. She accepted Rhaenyra being the heir at first. Her family is a really religious one. A bastard is a bigger issue in Westeros and is not even considered a noble despite the status of their parents. Imagine her thoughts when not only Rhaenyra had a clearly bastard at her first birth, but three. And everybody was ignoring it but her. That would have driven me crazy too.
1:17 People constantly bash her, BUT... what would you guys do if no one bats and eye when your child gets mutilated and your husband openly shows more afection to the children of his daughter than your true born ones? Edit: if viserys did literaly anything, I bet she wouldn't react this way

Raehnera and Alicent are both flawed. Raehnera wants to be queen but gives no sacrifice, and constantly makes enemies. Alicent is the opposite extreme sacrificing everything while putting her stress on the family and making friends with the wrong people. In the end this is why both of them have no real friends.

Everyone keeps saying Rhaenyra makes no sacrifice. What sacrifice is she supposed to make? Her father made her heir. She married as she was supposed to- to a man who isn’t attracted to women. There is literally nothing she could do about that. In fact having no children at all would have weakened her position and would have guaranteed if she met some “accident” Aegon would be her heir.
@Valentinianist

@@icoleman150 she has the duty of every heir and eventually ruler: have true born heirs with absolute claim (they need to be who they say they are), make good alliances with powerful houses, appease those powerful houses so they support her reign and don’t rebel, try and don’t start wars in your lifetime (or immediately after you die), try to be good to the common folk because she doesn’t want to deal with hungry angry peasants, try and not be so problematic and scandalous you start a rebellion (again), learn to be politically smart or at least surround yourself with people who is, not surround yourself with bootlickers and turn cloaks, try to live a long life so you inherit a stable realm to your heirs, etc. She had to sacrifice her pleasures for the good of the realm, as being queen is a duty and not a right. In summary, she needed what Tywin said all good ruler did: wisdom. She wasn’t a wise queen and that’s why she wasn’t queen for too long.

@@Valentinianist In the conversation with Daemon Rhaenyra revealed that she and Laenor had tried to have children to no avail. It wasn't Rhaenyra and Laenor's intention to try and pass someone else's children as Velaryon. They had failed to conceive, but they both needed descendants. Should have they terminated the pregnancies? If Rhaenyra had not produced children she would have been deemed a failure, regardless of who was infertile. The show is emulating medieval times, and back then infertility and the gender of the children were always deemed to be on the woman. Say what you want and dislike her all you want, both Emily Carey and Olivia Cooke ate up all of their scenes. She was told to educate Aegon and the only thing we got was her bashing the kid and telling him he will be king and later she is sorprised about the conspiracy to make him. She turned cold ever since she became jealous of Rhaenyra…I hate Alicent.
she talks so fast
Alicent: “I shall have one of her sons’ eyes in return” Same vibes as Cersei: “We have another wolf” 👀 Ngl, it’s obvious to anyone with eyes (sorry Aemond 💀) that Alicent is meant to parallel Cersei, but she’s really more sympathetic and has way more reason to make her demand. Not that it’s cool to command your servant to remove someone’s eye, but doing so after one of those boys took HER son’s eye is far more understandable to me than “Oh my kid got kinda bit by a wolf so I’m gonna demand that another unrelated pet is put to death even though the kid is fine and isn’t literally crippled or something” XD I really like how they changed Alicent from how she was in the book (ambitious for like no reason other than advancement for her children and needlessly scheming) vs. the show (knows her kids are in danger just by existing and has tons of emotional baggage from both her dad and the position as well as the system she’s been forced into)
