Why are people saying real Ali was better? Ofcourse he will be good being himself. Will Smith on the other hand is acting as Ali in the film. It's really dumb when people point out watching Ali being Ali is better than watching will Smith being Ali.

Smith did as great a job as anyone could expect. The movements, the voice. The only thing missing was Ali's sense of playfulness and charm. There was an odd somberness to his demeanor throughout the film and perhaps that was deliberate from the director's chair. But Ali's capacity to bring levity and light-hearted energy despite being such an unstoppable force of political and social power was what made him a truly exceptional human being.

Oct 2018.. ANd man ..... MUhammad was a force of nature. Will did a great job but "The Champ" was beyond human ..FRom the perfect body to his fighting concentration NO ONE could had played Ali. NO ONE! Those short left jabs he'd stopped mid way (and liston thinking he'd be coming with the right and BAM, the . left triggered forward again .with a stinging snap. MUCH respect to Will MUCH ! but The one and only CHAMP was carved from granite while his soul was wind and fire, with a healthy dose of humanity.

the boxers who played Liston, Quarry, Frazier and Foreman gave me a shock as they copied moves from their original portrayed legends. but honestly, that Liston guy gaved the same sinister stare. such an awesome movie, future generations should watch it, Ali did move greatness outside the ring.

Michael Bentt, ex-heavyweight champ. Held the title for only a brief period. Beat Tommy Morrison, but lost in his first title defense and sustained heart damage and had to retire. But , yeah, he played Liston well.

Love the tension the movie displays when Ali and Liston are in the ring about to get it on. You can feel that Ali is better he knows he’s better he’s trained he’s ready, smarter younger faster not afraid, he wants Liston he wants the title yet there’s still the natural nervousness when you’re about to go. Just a normal human reaction he felt it but it didn’t bother him a bit.

crazy how ali from 1964 can make the fight way more exciting that a movie from the 2000s

For someone who played The Fresh Price so well, you'd think Will Smith would've lightened up a bit.Ali was larger than life(and Ali knew it), so he lived/behaved accordingly. Although it's tough to replicate a legend to every degree, Smith did well in some areas, but for what most of us that were around when Ali was still a professional fighter remember, Smith came up very short.

A classmate of mines grandpa once was fortunate enough to cross paths with Ali where he asked if he would run with him where the grandpa replied “Oh I could never, I’m too old!” Ali shrugged him off in a way of saying oh well and continued his run. The grandpa claims not taking up the offer given by Ali is his biggest regret!

Muhammad Ali was on a whole different level, he was trying to get into the mind of Foreman... he’s truly amazing at what he does

Will Smith did a good job sounding like Ali but got the intention behind Ali's "seriousness" all wrong. Will Smith looked angry all the time, whereas Ali was just clowning around for comedic effect and to psych his opponent out. You can see that Ali always tried to hold back smirking.

OMG people..yes we get it Ali is superior to Will in boxing, but guess what? Ali is a fucking Boxer not Will. Smith was doing what's called ACTING, he doesn't put together the choreography, he doesn't control the directing, his role is to recreate the legend on the silver screen. Spoiler Alert he did it well....now move on.
