    Ive been to Monchique a few times ( the hotel Pool you showed in the first part is called the Hotel termal) . I particularly recommend, if you want to enjoy luxury, the Monchique Resort and Spa. Its good. May I complement you on the beautiful filming. Monchique can be a bit drab...but you captured the best parts ! Well filmed.

    Very beautiful plush greenery and I love the old water canals they have. it had a very comfortable feel that I love when I am in the lower mountains or hilly areas. love the look of the village and it did seem so peaceful. I am glad you both took a little trip up in the hills and who knows, you might stay an extra day or decide to find another area and it might be very different and then you can stay and look around. loved the video and looks like a very wonderful place to stay and relax. Peace and good times in the hills my friends. to your health with the tasty little drink.

    This was one of the few places in the Monchique mountain that escaped the terrible August 2018 wild fires, probably due to being a very humid place. You can see at 11:57 that everything around it is burnt. On a different note, Monchique is also known for having the highest pH of all the spring waters in the country: 9. It's completely alcaline.

    Hello Chris and Carol and thank you so much for the great video as always. Been following you guys for over 2 years. Your quality has been skyrocketing. Really enjoying this Portugal section. I've been there one time but I haven't seen but a fraction of what you guys are showing. One suggestion if I may: why not showing a google map at the beginning of the video (like Gabriel does). Many are unfamiliar with Portugal (but also future countries) so it would be awesome to know if you are in the northern, southern, or what area for future visitation of the country. That would be awesome! Keep up the awesome work!

  • @Module79L

    @Module79L

    Those were most definitely frozen because we're in the closure season now. However, since there were no Santos Populares this year, these sardines might have been captured in the high season and frozen right away, so they retain most of their fat. They're just not fresh but I don't think Chris can tell the difference like we do. ; )

    "But this lady's obviously an alcoholic." lol The merchant in Monchique was hilarious and quite the character and salesman. The place looks lovely. But it must be a bit eerie walking around in a relatively empty town. Seeing other people after all is part of the fun of traveling isn't it.

    I quite like empty beaches but yes empty towns is a bit strange. Towns need people to give it a bit of life for sure!
