I thought that I knew this song, having heard it so many times before by other artists, in particular Dionne Warwick. But there is such an oceanic clarity to this cover: it fills an enormous space yet loses none of its intimacy. So sharply focused -- more so than I would expect. // I cannot walk away from this without a comment on the evocative duotone image. A solitary figure walking on the tracks down the street on a damp night in early winter. That brings back some achy memories of involuntary solitude. The kind that allows too much time to think about past regrets.
