During his tour last year, Alfie Boe performed in Glasgow. The date was Dec. 2, 2014. For the encore, he sang Danny Boy a capella and then, for the first time, he performed two songs from Quadrophenia -- "I'm One" and "Love Reign O'er Me." This was the first time to my knowledge that Alfie ever sang these songs in public (he'd sung Love Reign O'er Me on the radio once, I believe).
A few things about this recording. First, I included a bit of the lead in because it was funny. Likewise, I left in the final thanks because it was, if memory serves, the return of the band on stage bowing together. Second, I was having a good time and a steady camera was not my first priority. You might get seasick in spots. Third, Alfie selected a bright light for his spot so if you were in the front like me, it was sometimes difficult to get him focused without being bright. Add to that the nagging giant camera that kept going back and forth in front of me, and it made for a bit of a nightmare.
Also, ya gotta keep in mind that right in front of the lad were rows and rows of senior citizens. They came in by bus. It was a hoot.
Oh, and yes, I edited, trying to keep as many whoops and screams by fans (including me) out of it.
