Alfa 156 jtd 100-200km/h dragy 6,74sec, progress (and fail) to 500hp - DRAGY RUN at 6.40min.

Pics and vids about the (long but funny) way up to a 500hp jtd m-jet 2,4 20v diesel ,progress and fail . The 6,74 sec. dragy run is at 6.40 min. (Rev limiter in 4th gear steals time....,bad shifting) Dyno run at 5.00 min. Other earlier dragy runs before. Next step is being planned.... :-)

    @@jazbina21 jo no problem. Pump pulley is stock Alfa from crankshaft but machined to fit on the pump. The additional roll is the same roll (as stock) again (2nd) in the M10x1,25mm thread in the head. Stock belt! Not difficult. The engine holder has to be modified for more place there. That's it. PDK belt mod👍

    What do you get from smaller pull.. Does the pump make more pressure? And thanks a lot. I have alfa mito 1.6 jtdm just put a stronger clutch biger turbo from 2.0mjtd 170hp.. Front ic. Pipes opened the intake with no shuter valve an no swirl flaps.. Car makes 220hp ..its a small ripper ☺️

    Very nice work in a really nice car! I don’t drive so much so i stay with my 3.0 220 HP V6 Busso in my 166. If the day comes that i drive more then i need such a 2.4 Diesel too!

    WOW echt geiler Typ Respekt! Bin per Zufall hier gestoßen. Ich habe eine frage und zwar habe ich mir einen 156 1.9 jtd 8v geholt (115ps) Ich habe bereits einen GT2260v Lader mit Krümmer schon rum liegen. Was müsste noch alles verstärkt werden für Standhafte und gesunde 190-210ps? LLK, Hochdruckpumpe R65, Map Sensor 3.5 oder 4 Bar, Kupplung. Wie siehts mit Einspritzdüsen aus halten die Serie 119er? Noch Tipps oder Empfehlungen? Mir geht es nicht um die Maximale Leistung :) Überlege mir noch einen 2.4 Brera zu holen sind die 20v gute Motoren? Liebe Grüße aus der Schweiz

    Very nice to see the possibilitys with this engine. I have this engine in a 1974 giulia. Currently just under 250bhp/500nm so plenty of room for more if i fit a stronger gearbox. I'm planning on fitting the same engine into a giulietta 116 and going for more power. 500 might be a bit much but 350-400 must be possible 😊

    Thanks! What about the thickness? Somewhere I’ve heard 2mm, is that right? And are they special made ones or just some generic washers with right diameter? Also does that washer go under or on top of the stem seal plate? I did some measurements and if it goes under the stem seal plate , it wont reach to seal the valve guide anymore.

I' mostly fueling Cirkle K (Statoil) Miles. But, thinking about switching to B0. Called marine diesel with 0% biodiesel. What do you think?

    Hi😊 0% Biodiesel ist best choice of course. Where do u come from? Here in Germany i can get premium diesel from Shell "V-Power Diesel" and Aral "Ultimate Diesel" 👍💪 In Germany i can get NO marine synthetic diesel GTL (Shell, means: Gas To Liquid). I bought it in the Netherlands to try out. Super Stuff! Absolute no smoke and more power. But burns hotter, so software has to be changed for lower EGT'S. So because it's not available here i go with ARAL Ultimate 0%Biodiesel and better Cetane grade.

    @hjthiessen Is there any updates on the build? I am really looking forward to them, I know you are cooking something big! On my 1.9 16v I have now moved on cp3 r90 with pulley mod, and the remaining injection system from 2.2mjet (674 inj) hoping that the pump will go on over 2200bar, do you have bigger sensor (2400-2500bar) reference you would reccommend using? Previously had R80 and 308 inj but got some complaints from the tuner that that setup wont go over 290hp... Gtd2060vz is in, welded onto stock manifold (only smoothed out, not ported), with 76mm dp but 70mm rest of exhaust. I did not touch engine head (stock springs aswell), hoping it will still do a decent job, without floating (forgot to do it when it was off the block last time)...but still aiming to keep the limiter close to 5500 as the complete engine bottom end is balanced within racing spec. I do not plan to go bigger with turbo nor exhaust, so maybe only the head porting when something decides to die... At what point did you decide to modify the intake manifold, I was hoping only to remove the butterfly from the throtle valve, would it present a big flow block (at 2.5bar, less than 350hp)? Also aside the rest, which low pressure fuel pump (in the tank) are you using? I have seen your reccomendation for aditional water pump but I havent seen my water temps going up much, maybe oem one is enough for 1.9/smaller engine... Stay strong and keep us updated! 💪

    Hey! Seems you're "deep" in the topic and your estimatons are realistic as i think. Cp3 r90 will be able to go 2200bars on 4 cylinder 1.9👍when in good condition. 2060 is a very good turbo but better 2260 for 300hp and less backpressure. In my opinion you should invest in 2565. THEN everything gets better and the engine can get rid of all the exhaust in high rpm's😊🔧 VAG MAP Sensors... Keep on tuning! My new engine is just ready and filled with break-in-oil for the next 1000 very slow "drive in" km...... we will see 😅

    Hi JtdWS, weld (best WIG/TIG) cast iron piece same way and place as on vacuum actuated turbo (fine thread vtg lever stop screw) and search same vtg point (96% closed). Then make vacuum for example with big old fuel pump electrically and create with bypass (to calibrate) good gauge (i use 2 gauges to make middle value) EXACT - 0,6bars. The stop screw must touch the lever at - 0,6bars.Test with little paper stripes. So the turbo is prepared for use... 🤗

    Hi, it really depends on how worn the clutch is. If "like new" this clutch can handle a lot of torque! There are very strong plates from Ferodo on the market and Stage 2 from JTD Performance / Netherlands is gigastrong. Two years with no problems😊

    Hi BoostFX! I use a strengthened DMF with stronger Springs from BMW Flywheel in it ( Mr. Kolodziej from "zweimassenservice" in Görlitz made this special part for me) The manifold is normally for fiat coupé 20v turbo an i modified it on all 'corners' 😅

Der passt plug&play bei den 200PS Motoren und ist ein Gamechanger gegen den KKK Lader! Dir wünsche ich auch allzeit gute Fahrt mit deiner Bella👋

    @@hjthiessen hab den 210er ;) Er hat aktuell eine SW-Optimierung von Belli drauf, falls dir der ein Begriff ist. Eine Sportkupplung hab ich ihm noch spendiert, aber das war es dann leider auch schon.

    Amazing job, such a lot of work for that car, that's brilliant! I'm wondering if it's true that with the time and money spent on a project like this you can have even more power on a similar diesel engine like the MB OM605. I know that they're the benchmark for massive tuning.

    Hi! Intersting comment 🤗 I think you ment OM606. THAT is 3.0 6 cyl 24 valve giga engine with mechanical pump. I'm super interested in such thoughts you have. So for example M57 /N57 BMW engines compared with OM606 or JTDM and TDI different generations. The construction points where the 'superlittle' difference is... for example "material between the cylinder" or "bearing /piston pin diameter" "head/cooling design/closed deck", such given things that can make a bombproof engine design. And the 2,4jtdm is head to head with OM606. Shared 1st place💪

    @@hjthiessen no no, i meant the OM605 (5cylinder) because i saw some MB Sprinter pulling like Golf GTI (and they're comparable to the 2.4 JTDm 'cause they have the same deplacement). The OM606 i think it's the Queen of diesel engine and even on it's NA version on the W124 sound amazing with an inox exhaust. A True classic car

    Hey, Gearbox is stock GM F40 and is very strong. No problems with it. But i do no drag racing with it.👍🔧

    @@hjthiessen so sad! Jtd engines are very underrated, the documentation/modding community is not even close as the TDI world does. Seems you've run through a lot, for sure you found and learned a lot of tricks and details! Are you running extra cooling? Stock water pump isn't enough even for unmodified engines if driven hard (the famous 2.4 cracked cylinder heads disease, even in the revised 210hp version). Some people have installed additional Valeo electric pumps from Audi/VW to improve the flow and reduce hot spots, which seems to cause the cracks between valves.

    Yes that's right, but easy to solve with pierburg cwa waterpump and tecomotive 'tiny cwa controller'. You can choose your wanted water temp then. Very good. Waterpump blanking with roll is needed, that's all... 👌

    Ja! Sehr gerne. Bei deinem Motor bin ich nicht "voll" im Thema, sicher bin ich mir jedoch, das der Turbolader das Nadelöhr bei dir ist. Ein GTB aus dem 210 PS 159er wäre ein lohnendes Upgrade.Auch ohne Softwareänderung schon viel mehr Drehmoment und Drehfreude oben raus. Bei JTD-Performance gibt es Kits ( Holland/Niederlande) Der Joel dort hat für deinen bestimmt etwas parat. Grüße HJT

    Hi user-fm, oh good question. I meant "diesel only" because i used no NOS in that run. I had "two Stage" Snow Performance WEI (Water/Ethanol) with 50/50 mix there. And EGT's raised to 880° when Speedo around 220km/h. Boost was 2,5bars. 🔧

    Can you tell what thickness the washers under springs are? I’ve tried to find that info everywhere but no luck. I did some measurements how different thickness of shims affect the seat pressure but Im not sure how close to coil bind is safe to go with stock springs.

    Hi Zdenek! From my experience the head only cracks because of bad software tunings. With the stock water circuit you can go full throttle only for a (very) short time. And normally the exh. temperature raises much quicker than water (water temp big latency) So you never really know what your water circuit can do😅 Best solution is: Get a Pierburg cwa 400 electric water pump with tiny controller, take out thermostat and get lucky. You can set the wanted temp with the controller and you have ALWAYS this temperature! For example 65°C all the time. THEN you can do the real hard job (exhaust temp not over 850) Nice greetings 👋

    ​@hjthiessen a bug in your brain, or something like that, I am not an English speaking person. Try LPG, if you have money. Diesel and LPG, the benefits are great, as I was told. Too bad that SalePB (watch some of his fiat punto 1.9jtd videos) got married and he ditched tuning.

    So whats current fuel pressure and amount you are running on? And how much could you reach without the pulley mod? Its an R80 cr hp pump? BTW I am shocked how does that size turbo spools up already on 2500rpm :O And I dont quite get whats the purpose of that exhaust flap?

    Hi Vali, my CP3R90 pump needs the pulley mod to reach the needed revs. The stock 175hp pump/pulley can reach about 300hp with 2260 turbo max. The VTG of my turbo is NOT set for good spool. The VTG is set more open for lower EMP's and so lower EGT's even 🤣 And the Exh. Flap gets open above 1,5bars, before this pressure exhaust gas goes thru a silent muffler from motorcycle. So it's silent car in the city.... 👍

    @@hjthiessen I've currently got R80 from 2.4 210hp which seems to be strugling with the pressures over 1850bar without the pulley mod...and its a gtb2060v (2056 billet hybrid) running at 2.5bar but full boost comes around 3000rpm on a 1.9jtd 16v...all together seems hardly to get over 260hp even though the setup should be goof for close to 300...

    Oh, CP1H3 is good pump. Fuel metering valve disconnected? Disconnect and check your VTG lever is on stop screw at - 0,6bar vacuum. Your turbo spools mega, there is something wrong!

    @@hjthiessen the fuel regulator is still on the pump but disconected and the other one on the rail is used...you think that old one in the pump can be blocking the flow even though its fully open? I was playing a lot with the VTG and the stop screw usually if its set wrong it does not boost up lineary its like nothing nothing and then BAM full boost...now it boost nice and linear as it should but its all together happening too late...stop screw is almost screwed all the way in for spoon as soon as possible but not to much so there is just a little turbo flutter...the lever itself is set not to be loose, about half a centimeter-centimeter (speaking aproximate from my memory) from the end of the thread... I will try your tactic and check to which position does it get with 0.6bar vacuum

    @@vali4312 ...oh : never turn the stop screw ( it is only protecting the VTG mechanism to get too close) always fix with M6 from Vacuum Activator. So your VTG is open too much to build boost in lower revs!

    Hi,yes. Now I`m building Block with shorter H-Beam Rods (Compression Ratio down to 16,5).More boost and fuel to burn . A try, will see what happens with bigger Injectors, a bigger turbo or compound setup. Perhaps interesting...?

    Yeah of course. But it's nothing special. It is the stock GM F40 6-speed gearbox from this 156 20v. Only upgrade with Quaiffe torsen diff. is a good thing🔧💪

    Hi Ape862, it depends on your goals. Good choice up to 230hp is the GTB2056 from 210hp Alfa 159/Brera. Very good spool. Then comes the GTB2260 from f10/11 BMW up to max.300hp. Both NOT plug&play! Such conversions you can get at "jtd-performance" in the Netherlands.💪

    Hi! 209PS ist ne gute Basis. Die Sensoren MAP und Rail, eine größere CR Hochdruckpumpe z. B. R90 CP3, mindestens einen GTB/GTD 2565, einen freien Abgastrakt ohne DPF+KAT und gute Software. Das AGR noch stillegen und ausprogrammieren, dann sind 350 drin👍🔧

    Hello Sramek, there are two different heads, the 175 and 185hp engines (841G.000) have 6mm valveshafts and the newer from 200 abd 210hp have 5mm valveshafts. The 6mm heads don't crack. The newer are bad. AND gigaimportant is software. Since PDK made my software i had not only one little crack in the head. He uses the perfect timings👌✊

    @@hjthiessen Hi, yes I know about the differences between the newer and older heads. However, even the older ones with wider valveshafts crack. The new ones quite often crack even without any tunes, but the older ones aren't exactly bulletproof as far as I know. I have a tuned 166 with 2.4 (20V head) and the head unfortunately cracked on four out of five cylinders. Maybe the timing wasn't perfect, but I heard about 3 other guys, which had the same problem as me on 156s with 20 valves. The 10 valve heads were much stronger from what I heard. I am currently rebuilding the 166 with a target of 240 - 250 hp and approx 500 Nm, so fingers crossed :) Good luck with Yours as well, she's a beast!

    Hi, stock belt. Pump pulley is machined crank pulley. Second roll, same as stock in the M10x1, 25 thread in the head. I explained already here in the comments. Search it, perhaps a little bit better explained there. 🔧

    Yes, 308 can deliver this power BUT you have to begin with electrical tank pump (build in a much stronger), then minimum R90 CP3 high pressure pump in very good condition and one new pipe back from engine bay to tank for diesel backflow without pressure.

    Hi! No, ethanol is instead of methanol for the WMI injection (cooling with water/ethanol 50:50) and HVO is synthetic Diesel fuel (like Shell GTL) with higher cetane. But: much more heat! With same setup but normal diesel 100 degrees less EGT'S....

    HVO and GTL are excellent and clean burning fuels, but difficult to get here and needs software changes. I always use ARAL Ultimate Diesel.

    Nearly no smoke. That was one main target. NOS helps additional (oxygen) against smoke. 👍

    The inner drive shaft joint right (Tripode) is the weak point. For this joint it seems to be easier to transfer high Torque when deeper in the shaft hole and straight. The fine needles in the three tripode balls are wearing on the full surface only when drive shaft is in no angle. And the pressure/surface rule says: pressure to more surface devides power. So the drive shaft has best surviving chances in straight position 💪⚙️🔧

    @@bvcvcc1289 oh.. don't withstand WMI (WEI Ethanol in my case) it's SO much fun when kicks in. Especially when Compression Ratio is reduced it is a MUST. And you can use it for more power at the weekend or for cooling only when high speed race... I love WEI

    Hey! It depends on where rev-limiter is set in the software. I tried carefully up to ~5500 in 6th gear and GPS 274 km/h is end (rev-limiter). Never tried again, it`s not important... ;-)

    Hi Zoran, i don't understand exactly what you want, but: Use VAG 4 bar MAP and VAG 2000bar Railsensors. Change Software and do logs while driving, look what your pump can deliver during full pull. If you have 308 injectors from 154kw engine, don't change nozzles. They can 400+ with good pump (for example R90) . Only if you want more take bigger nozzles. For software ask pdk chiptuning varna Mr Kostadinov ist absolut specialist 👍👌

    @@zoranzoran2393 Hey Zoran. Honestly for over 340+ your Intake Manifold has to be modded and your head must be ported good. THEN you can reach (with the listed mods) and of course a good free flowing exhaust over 400hp. Your stock R80 pump will begin to struggle then, too. Depends on condition of the pump.
