Alexey Navalny’s Mentor and Friend: Putin Is “Evil, and a Killer” | Amanpour and Company

As a result of a crackdown on independent journalists in Russia, Yevgenia Albats has been forced into exile. The Editor-in-Chief of The New Times, an independent political weekly based in Moscow, has been working in the United States since 2022. She was a close friend of Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny, whose death she blames squarely on President Putin -- as does Navalny's wife, Yulia Navalny. The Kremlin calls the accusation “absolutely unfounded,” claiming that an investigation into Navalny's death is underway. Yevgenia Albats joins the show to discuss the loss of her friend and what it means for the world.

Most reasonable people are against war, the death of so many young men is hard to comprehend. They the Russians are dying for nothing, the Ukrainians are defending their country. They people are so manipulated and brainwashed, they are not shown anything about the war, not even by Russian media, which we get to see. Such a sad and depressing situation.

What many are missing about the Moscow King is that he is a small person, his psychological condition is very different from everyone else. He is so mean, he never forgot any humiliation he ever felt and who provoked it. If you ever met people like tha in your life you would understand. And with the reasoning “why now? Whho is to benefit etc” remember - Anna Politkovskaia, Boris Nemtov were killed (among many more less known abroad) and russian propaganda always says on TV - we are not the ones to benefit for it… when you hear what they say after each case, you know for sure the truth is the opposite. Alexei was filmed all day long while in jail, if it wasn’t them then they would have released the videos. Instead there is information that the whole video monitoring of his cell was shut down that day…

IF ARE FORCED, THEN INTRODUCE THE BALLOT VOTE CANDIDATES CROSSED OUT with A LINE, AS A SIGN THAT THEY HAVE CHOSEN NONE OF THEM BUT NAVALNY OR NAVALNAYA TO THE PRESIDENCY OF RUSSIA.

But in the Philippines, it did : when main opposition of the dictator Ferdinand Marcos was assassinated by the airplane upon his return from exile, his widow Corazon Aquino was elected President 3 years later. Their son also served as President later. So it can happen.

Thank you for this informative podcast 👏🏻 Mr Navalny reminds me of the absolute potential statesmanship of Steve Biko whose life was also terminated abruptly in SA. Lives in clear bright candle flames, so much to offer in their contributions to a far more improved navigation for a better world ...... expunged❗️ A very sad loss indeed.
