its possible but unlikely. For most of the last fight volkanski was just surviving. His success was only in the final 2 minutes. So unless his technique improved dramatically or he gets some crazy knockout, I dont think the outcome of this fight will change from the last one. If you analyze their styles, its just unlikely for volk to win tomrrow but who knows. Hopefully an upset.

You can tell the first loss against Islam has been haunting volk ever since.

It pisses him off because he knows now Islam is not as good as they say. If he had felt ANY kind of dominance In there volk wouldn't be bothered. Facts are he did not dominate at all it was 3-2 to volk. Laying on someone and doing absolutely nothing with it is not how you win a fight. Volk pressed more volk took all the "great" Islam had and laughed at him literally laughed at him then smashed his face in. So here's another perspective. Islam threw everything he had at a featherweight and ended up 10 seconds away from being sent to the shadow realm! Volk by knockout inside 2 rounds.

Justin & Dustin will just stay on the feet with volk & that’s volks game. He’s more calculated & has Better movement than them so I think he would be able to kind of pick them apart kinda like he did max.

I’m from Brooklyn so dickriding is not really my thing but you can’t say Alexander Volkanovski without saying “THE GREAT “ Truly a world class athlete on all aspects. Mentally, physically, the way he presents himself and even the way he promotes the fight. Truly a once in a lifetime personality.

I honestly think the other fighters at 145-170 should be glad he’s a small dude. This guy has such a strong mentality and the cardio is insane . Man if he was about 5’10- 6’0 uff 😮‍💨

Absolutely love this guy, to be honest I was, and still am a huge Max Hollway fan and I was one of those who believed Max won 1 of those fights, but Volks improvement has been outrageous and I now think he is the P4P No1, After Max destroyed Kattar I thought he could beat Volk but Volk dominated Max, a true legend of the sport and another in the P4P rankings, the way he got out of those submissions v Ortega was incredible and then his ground and pound was scary, Ortega was a mess at the end and the class levels v Zombie & Yair was so evident. I didnt think he could have a chance against Islam but he shocked him, I hope he can win but I think Islam maybe underestimated him due to his size, and with home advantage, Khabib back and the short notice part means I think Islam wins. But it will be close again and I disagree this is his last LW title shot, he'll go back down and defend against Topuria and maybe another 1 or 2 then I think he'll come back up with Islam then at WW he could win LW against really anyone else. I really hope he wins this week but if not he will become a double champ

His interviews are incredible is commentary is awful. He overvalues a take down with no position or damage for the next 5 minutes and doesn’t talk about anything else. He’d be as bad as Mike Bell if he became a judge. “Oh is that a wrestler who got a takedown with no control time in round 1 and got out struck the whole fight? That’s 30-24 for the wrestler”

Man i wish Volkanovski wasn't coming into this fight on short notice when he just recovered from surgery. I feel like a full camp Volkanovski definitely wins this rematch but unless he stops Islam early or Islam has a bad weight cut. I just don't like Volkanovskis odds in this one but i didn't like Sean Stricklands odds against Izzy either.

Just to give you a little more perspective Now, This fight is like if your big brother showed up to your fight and is in your corner cage side. I agree with you, but remember, both of these guys are at the top of their game. Volk really digs into studying this stuff, and they're both about equally strong, no matter what anyone says about hydration.( One's a wrestler from Dagestan, the other runs a gym in Thailand 😉) . The tricky part for Volk is that Islam has some serious wrestling skills and is really good on the feet. But for Islam, he's got to deal with Volk being super strong and able to go five rounds easily, even with him. I bet the most nervous Volk's ever been in a fight was the one with Yair, but look how that turned out! My point is that this could be the best fight ever..:)

DC u forgot u did 1 day for Anderson Silva, yeah he had a training camp but the preparation for the one fighter was very short give yourself a lil credit

Volk is that guy where if he says something is gonna happen or he can do it, I believe him.

volk did great in the first fite, but volk's main strength is his mind. he's a tactician. he isn't really a risk taker a la max holloway, etc. so im def interested to see what volk does when he steps out of his gameplanning/tactical comfort zone, thoe i have lower expectations since it's not his A game. ...or u can jus look at it as an older fighter takin a last minute fite for a ginormous paycheck.

I think considering how close Alex was to winning in the 1st fight with camp, if Islam won in definitive fashion he’d still be questionable. It’s no one’s fault it’s just unfortunate that he can’t have a great opponent with a full camp
