Agree so much. Although I make room for new “music”, nothing touches the real music! So you’re right, pretty much a waste of time. I’m in a funk groove, gimmes “Hair” Larry Graham and Tower of Power “Eaht is Hip”. Killer! That’s music. Van Halen 6 pack…that’s much, Zep, cream, ACDC and many many more….thats music to me. Enjoy all the metal “core’s” and Taylor Swift! Lmao ❤😂

I know this because Valarie’s verified account wound post things to it every few days… just those GIFs that say “have a nice day”, and shit like that But he would lost to it about every week. One in particular that I remember was him asking “So… what does everyone think of the new Van Halen shows?” And a handful of people left feedback He had some great shots of his drums from then as well. @@christophermoffett3762 that possibility is actually not an exaggeration, nor is it out of character. It’s definitely not a “trolling” comment, neither… I’ve seen this myself where a spouse in a 30 plus year marriage suddenly becomes terminally ill, and then dies a few months later. What happens quite often is the surviving spouse ends up terminally ill within the first 12 months after the death of the one I’ve seen this on a few occasions in my time. This also happens with the loss of a child. Neil Peart’s wife is a prime example. She became inexplicably ill with a cancer just a few months after they lost their 19 year old daughter in a vehicular accident. They say the cancer was the result of her being so upset and not being able to get over the loss … basically died of a broken heart So yeah, your assumption is very much a possibility that could plague him at any time without warning

Guaranteed, he has moments where he looks back on it all and thinks “shit… what could we have done differently, or better?” With all the drama and controversy and suspicions that surrounded them over the years- most of it because of making bad decisions that made no sense and getting mixed up with the wrong people… for him to attempt carrying on would only mean asking for more of the same drama and controversy that’s plagued him making the experience very unpleasant at times

Interesting facts: Alex Van Halen's first of two sons, Aric Van Halen, was born October 6, 1989; Aric's mother was Van Halen's then-wife, Kelly Carter, whom he divorced in August 1996 after 13 years of marriage. Van Halen married his current wife, Stine Schyberg, in 2000. She is the mother of his son Malcolm Van Halen. Alex Van Halen is an ordained minister. It's very interesting that Aric Van Halen was born on October 06, 1989 34 years prior to the day of his Uncle Eddie's passing on October 06, 2020. Much love to the Van Halen family. Thank you for the great music and the many fond memories. - JC

And he said his crap implying it's all true and they're best friends again even though truthfully Al never forgave Captain Candyass . Then Al has an idea to do a little tribute for his brother with maybe Dave and some other people at his choice (other than Candyass and Mike ) . It went public and Candyass wanted in on the idea and BOTH Dave and Al dropped the idea . Now remember , who lied saying that the Halen brothers were only in the business for the money ? Who's doing some FAKE cash-grab rip-off elevator music version tribute to Ed ? Not Al .

That’s great to hear! One thing about Alex Van Halen, he can be quite frank and pretty brutal about the truth in terms of everything regarding Vanhalen and Eddie. I recently happened to discover an old interview online of the band I’d never heard before (it’s in audio), when the album “for unlawful carnal knowledge” first came out, right after they’d done the infamous 1991 free show in Dallas,Texas (55,000 rabid fans were in attendance - it’s on KZread) and Alex was the first one to respond to questioning from the interviewer. He was so straightforward…no BS! And as a long time huge fan of VH (since 1980), I appreciate straight shooters like Alex. So his book, I’m certainly sure that it’ll be somewhat explosive, but he’ll still be somewhat private about other things.

I can't help but think that the brothers were so locked into each other that Alex was a larger contributor to Ed's success than we give him credit for being. But, I'd like to know if they got their great sense of time and feel from their father, playing his style of music (a-la Big Bad Bill), or what other things that we don't commonly know contributed to that impeccable sense of rhythm.

Everyone deals with grief in their own way. I was a hospice nurse for 15 years. Hope writing the book was cathartic for him. Having been a teen in the 80’s and having an older sister I followed The Who and The Grateful Dead. I wish I saw Van Halen. I have since finally discovered their music. I am grateful for it because music is eternal.

I would very much like to read the book. I am an older brother and I think there is a special family experience that is worth reading about. We lost our father because of throat cancer. It’s typically a death sentence in about twenty years after initial cancer. When Eddy passed I thought about my father and how that twenty year time frame held true. Sad for Wolfgang, but grateful he had the opportunity to glean so much from his father. Anxious to read the memoir.

It is the craziest thing, I was, just now, looking at my framed picture of Ed and Alex in a "Got Milk" ad. Being a huge Van Halen fan, and finding Ed to be a precious jewel of the music world, I found the picture to be extraordinary. Showing both of their good looks, and Alex's amazing humor, having dumped the "milk" over his head, running down his chest. I suddenly wondered how Alex is doing. I did a Google search and found this. Thank you for this. I am extremely interested in what he has to say, and would like to ask him only this, "How are you Alex? I hope you are doing well. We all miss Ed so much. Thank you for doing this." And thank you, Steve, for giving him this platform. I will be following.

There's a five part interview from 1985. Steve rosen did it back in the day and alex talks about the first record. I've always thought the song I'm.the one sounded a bit weird with the kick drums. Me and my drummer friends would sit there and say it sounds unbalanced. Alex finally reveals that one of the microphones wasn't plugged in for his other bass drum and he was pissed. But that's how it got released.

Pretty interesting Al deceided to talk about himself: after all, he is one of the best drummers of the world with that very specific drumming signature he has developped over the years.I love to read and hear him about his drumming skills. It would be nice also to read about the unique lifetime joint venture the brothers had and the kind of lonelyness he must feel after Ed passed away. And not to forget, his own story about the band instead of listening to DLR's one way street about Van Halen .And finally, for fans who were always loyal but not the type to be a member of any fanclub or did not go to a meet and greet, but have visited VH concerts all over the world instead, cannot wait to read Al's Premium Book....

We played some real dumps (The Downy Outhouse) and some great venues, Gazzari's, The Whisky , The Rock Corp. and the Starwood. Oddly enough the band I was in "Mandrake" won the Los Angeles Battle of the Bands at the L.A. Sports Arena in 1977, VH came in second, we all know what happened after that... Hey Steve, I'm a fan that followed VH after recovering from the shock and awe of the first album!! Eddies playing was just mind blowing and he created a new level to being a Guitar God!!! But, after that, I followed them casually for the most part. I thought Dave turned into a screeching asshole at the end of his run as lead singer. He sucked!!! Sammy was refreshing!! He could fucking sing on time and in key!! Holy shit!! How amazing was that!!! :-) Was seriously bummed like we all were at the news of Eddies death. A 61 year old guy who cried when I heard the news. I would like nothing more than the TRUTH from Al's point of view. From soup to nuts as they say. That's all I really want.....Can't wait to read it. @@katw01 Mike didn't say the word mistreated but told what he was ask to give up in an interview i saw. It's also in Sammy Hagar's book he wrote. Each member of the band plus the manager got 20% which was an even share. After the smoke settled Mike ended up with about 13%.In the 2004 tour he had to give up all his rights to anything Van Halen. Mike was paid as a regular employee but he didn't care because Mike just wanted to play with the band again. Mike will never talk bad about anyone in the band. Mike has too much class. But yes in my words Mike was mistreated but that's just me. Take care and have a nice day.

He's the smart one, just a memoir to book end his Amazing life. No selling his Drums or other VH paraphernalia, no tours with a cover band, no need to make personal appearances to keep income coming in. I'd like to hear about the other bands the toured with but it sounds like most of this generation (mid to late 70's) did not even get to stick around to see the band they were opening for, exit stage left and to the bus.

However I've always heard alot of the be bop swing element in just about all of your style of rock playing, Because of you and Ed studieing classic piano and a combination of alot of influence from your dad....?
