Alex Rudinger - Mega Drive - "CONVERTER"
I've wanted to compose parts & make a play-through to this song for AGES! First had the idea a few years back, just wasn't able to find the time. Lately though, I've been keeping pretty isolated, adhering to the Social Distancing thing, so finally got it done! Lol, I don't know why but, electronic music always inspires me to write over-the-top drum parts 😂.
"Converter" is by #MegaDrive - an electronic artist I've become quite fond of. This song's from an older album, but he has quite an extensive discography - I'll put a link below in case any of you want to peep it! At any rate, I actually reached out to him a couple years back to ask if he could provide me with a drum-less stem to make the video. We've ended up talking quite a lot since then, so I've made a rad friend outta the whole thing too! It always makes me stoked when someone that makes SICK music is also a SICK guy. So shoutout to him - if you like what you hear, definitely check out & support his work!

Mix was done by Adam "Nolly" Getgood. Turned out great (as always!), & I was suuuuuper stoked to have Nolly mix this track specifically. He definitely brought it to life in exactly the way I had imagined it. If you're interested in hiring Nolly for mixing / mastering, please contact him using the address below -

You can hear at 2:47 based on the power of the strokes this is definitely not the fastest he can play this, and there’s something incredibly rad about 100% in 4th gear rather than 100% in 6th. Aggressive and powerful sound, but still remains musical and stable.

The way his backbeats hover around their apex don't sound random in the least. That sort of thing is a showcase of control I think, and it elevates feel over displaying the fringes of one's control. A polished comfort zone is classy.
Whenever I watch Alex... it makes me realise how much more I need to practice

I'm more like yikes. I should just quit lol. And I think I'm generally okay at drum
After each time I tune my sound system I always turn to this video. It hits so freaking hard!!! I love it!
I honestly didn't expect a drummer I enjoy watching more than Alex Brent
AMAZING! Megadrive is one of my favorite electronic/synth producers, and Alex Rudinger once again hits it out of the park jamming along ... good stuff

LOL, I would actually hella do that if I could get a drum-less stem. Follow The Reaper was my JAM. Also (fun side note) - the first U.S. tour I did (back in 2011) was supporting C.O.B. I watched em' almost every night. Shit ruled. LOL! & thx for the kind words!

That ending fill from 4:35 onward was insane! Your videos are straight up drum lessons for me!
Nolly’s drum mixes are so distinct. What a king
Maybe now mega drive will do live shows with this gentleman? I’ve seen dance with the dead, magic sword and gunship but would love to see Mega Drive and Perturbator together. God that would be a killer show!!!
oh fucking YA??? This has some nasty bass synth grooves, love the hi hat work as well. Great as usual
it seems your drum machine has grown a body.
OMG DUUUUUDE. I can't believe you just covered one of my favourite darksynth tunes ever. Out of the freaking blue... I love you even more now.

Back again, man this sounds sooooo good!
Your stick control is amazing 🤩🤩
Excellent,like always, my friend
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome...
Always said drumming is like dancing. Best example of this point.
I would pay to mega drive for a mastered version with this drums.
the bell brass is back
I love mega drive. Never thought I'd hear you play their songs lol
Now that's where the guy at music store on Wayne's World should pop and say "Wow. You're amazing dude." Alex: "Thanks.... I like to play." 🤓
Beast Mode -- Activated
This makes my drive go hard
So cool to see this band acknowledged! I was beginning to feel like the only one that knew them!
Still watching in total amazement. This is incredible, dynamics and technique through the ROOF! 🤘

Outstandingly clean stickings!
Another impressive piece of work, man. That snare is just perfection.
Alex every time I open up a new video of yours whether be it original material or covers or anything in between I know it is going to be extraordinary.
Mega Drive is probably one of the last artists I would've expected you to cover! Awesome!
That was incredible. Maybe your best!
that meinl -pure alloy sounds great.maybe the best cymbals in the world
One of my favorites. Please continue to put out more of this content!!
Holy shit man! That was awesome and on fucking point!
F*************cking GREAT!!! 👌 🤘🤘🤘
Still some of your best work. I go back to this track often.
Killing it!
That looked fun. Nice work!
Holy shit bro! I thought your last video was your best! Nice!
This performance is fucking amazing, and the mixing is on another level. Love the dynamics in this.
Insane 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Something about this made me think of Animals as Leaders gone electronic. Some of the parts felt so Garstka - like. Loved it man!
Very well done! Player 1 level up 👍
WOW!! This was awesome!!
This dude is unbelievable.
Bro I love this song!!!
Just amazing
Passion!
Dude no way one of my favorite drummers does a cover of one of my favorite synthwave songs. Big ups man you crushed that shit.
I cannot get over how good that snare sounds.
Much respect! Good for you for staying safe and protecting others in the process! Also really appreciate hearing some electronic music. Would love to hear you do some Venetian Snares (e.g., "Dear Poet")!
That Snare sound is KILLER!
These aren’t normally the type of videos I watch online to get turned on, but damnnnn. 😍
Damn!
I love this type of music, dude! Definitely hope to see more of these excellent kinda videos, with tracks from bands like Perturbator, Toxxify, Gunship, Megadrive, etc.

I considered doing a Perturbator track a looooong while ago. Reached out to him (well, got a response from his manager) & he / they weren't willing to provide a drum-less stem. Didn't think it would turn out too ideally if I had to mix my recorded drums w/ an album file, so I decided against it. Anyway - thanks for the kind words doode! Glad you dig!

extreme drum master god.
Good job!
That was excellent.
Damn bro that groove was so tight. So much going on here that showcases how versatile your skills are. Super impressed, yet again! You need like millions of views per video.
He is truly amazing what techniques he uses he is a master of time keeping... killer work man keep it coming
Wow, thank you Alex! This is truly beautiful. And I very like your toms cutting through...so nice man. ..have to watch it again witch headphones on, now! Greetings from Germany.
Man, this is fire.
Mega drive has been among my favorite artists for years and seeing a cover this intricate and well done takes the song to a whole other level. Imagine if you guys had a collab ep or something. Insanity. Incredible job.
Delicious to watch 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Just found out that this exists. Lit a fire under my ass to cover this on bass.

Wowzers Penny!
Wish I could give this a thumbs up for every ghost note played
