He's an incredible drummer. He's of Samoan descent but was born and raised in New Zealand. He is currently and has been touring around the USA with the band blood sweat and tears. This solo took place in Wellington New Zealand during the rugby sevens competition hence why everybody is dressed up haha. Dylan has come a long way since then, he has matured and his solos just keep getting better and better. You should check out his video he done for Taylor Hawkins tribute, it's not his usual genre of playing but he did an awesome job with it.

I'm a percussionist, and, well At least I thought I was.😅 I'm speechless.
His playing is mesmerizing, but technical wizardry aside, I think it’s worth mentioning just how engaged that right foot was. His work on the kick drum was off the charts.
If any band was apart, they would snatch this guy up, imagine opening a gig with this guy, the whole audience would be pumped up, before the main event even started, he would bring up any concert to the next level. 😎👍⭐⭐⭐

This clip was recorded in Wellington NZ while a rugby tournament had just finished and the town was partying through the night. Mean drummer 💪🏾💯
Dylan used to practice at the same rooms we used. He and his family would spend whole 8 hour days rehearsing his drumming. He certainly put in the hours. Proud of our local kiwi lad. Made me feel like a total amateur after 30 years drumming.
I have never seen anything like that in my 72 year old life ! That drummers chops have chops ! WOW !!! Simply amazing !
Wow! The amount of dexterity, timing, rhythm, hand eye coordination, consistency, and speed is truly astounding!!! To be able to do multiple things with other appendages at the same time in sync is a feat that many can not do. Truly amazing skill. Well done!

I was told of Dylan even before this solo was done. My drum mentor who had 40 years of drum experience pretty much summed up Dylan like this: this guy drinks drumming, he eats drumming, he sleeps drumming and he shits drumming.
This is the old skool jazz, swing rock that this world has been missing for so long. Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, Neil Peart, and John Bonham would be proud of you, son 💯

I'm a Bass Player from New Zealand and I Played a few gigs with Dylan when he was in is early 20s. He's probably around the same age here. I think this was done in Wellington, New Zealand at the Rugby sevens tournament/Festival, hence the dress ups in the crowd. Dylan would be around 30 now, living and working in the USA for several years. Yes touring with Blood Sweat & Tears. On top of his obvious talent he is an incredible sight reader and a fantastic Person. Glad you found him.

I was once a drum teacher... If I had him as a student, I would just take him out for a beer!
Dylan has been killing it since the early days of youtube. When a drummer can develop a solo like this with great musicality, you know they're next level
I have not seen him before. I love his dancing unique off-rhythms early on and his genuine flow. He knows how to build momentum for sure. He caught the energy wave of the crowd and energized the whole space.
You can tell next level drummers by many signs. And recognize the 10's of thousands of hours of practice that very obviously have been spent. But the most telling...is their ability to make mood & music with drums. Just spellbinding Dylan !
I found him years ago, total beast! His drumming, hand coordination and showmanship are incredible.

I’m 63. I discovered this guy on KZread yesterday. In less than half a day he’s become my favourite drummer. Move over Virgil haha. His musicality and taste for the MUSIC stand out. Check him out with Jeff lorber at the baked potato ❤
I’ve been watching Dylan for about ten years. The first time I saw him on KZread, he was just 16 years old competing in a drumming contest. His performance blew me away, and he has progressively gotten better and better. Not only does he have flawless rhythm, but does catchy tasteful phrases and breaks, all the while throwing in little syncopated riffs that almost goes unnoticed. He is technically one of the finest drummers I’ve ever seen.

The original video was released in 2011 and I come back to watch it at least once a year since then, he's been for sure one of my inspirations as a musician
This guy could definitely be the natural successor to the legendary Deep Purple drummer IAN PAICE.
Yeah, I've been following Dylan for a few years now. He's amazing. And I agree, he makes me realize I'll never even approach that level of talent.
It takes a lot of strength to put yourself on the street in front of a crowd, not only does he have some chops, he has balls of steel. Respect!
Yes, Dylan is world-class in any style he plays...been watching him for five years or more and been playing for over 40 years myself....love his technique
Dylan Elise from my home town Wainui, played rugby with my little brother growing up. He's been at them drums for a long time 👍 was good to see him play on the streets during 7s.
Been watching him for years. Truly talented and knows music. Unlike some of the good drummers that you see. You need to watch the video of what he does with just a high hat.
Absolutely no words too describe this awesomeness.. original style at this level with an appreciation for rythem and groves. Enough can't be said
Guys like him keep me having my dream of dive bar gigs. In my 37 yrs of playing, I bet he surpassed me within a year of starting. Like I said, at least I got dive bars to look forward to.....

just speachless. No words for what he just did, the mans a legend, and even that aint a good enough word to use.
Probably one of the most natural talents ever on this instrument. Can you imagine if he had studied with Dave Weckl or BR? Or Vinnie? Please. He been a Phenom for years. God bless. He's earned his place...
First, thank you to the Colby not constantly stopping video as to mess up the sound and flow of this fantastic drummer. Great reaction video.
Wow, that was outstanding! The drumming was incredible and what Amway has with his sticks and tricks! 🤯
I'd say the way he sounds, how ever he holds them has got to be proper, just my opinion .. Guy is unreal Best I've heard in my 56 years of loving to hear drummer's with that kind of control ,He will only get better, incredible
Impressive how he milked it to the edge of too much, n ended 0.05 seconds before it. Absolutely quality 🔥

This guy is so good made me rethink if I am even a drummer, I am going to switch instruments
WOW! Unbelievable performance! This guy is a master drummer! Never seen anything like it before!
I've been playing for about 45 years. And up until right now, I thought I was pretty good at what I did. Umm, nope, as it turns out, I suck at it. It usually takes all my concentration to twirl a stick. And this guy was doing it so smooth and fast that you almost couldn't see it happening. I'm rather impressed with his skill level. I also couldn't ever hold my left stick sideways like he was. That's a old school type style and ya don't see often. My first set of drums I was told that is how you hold sticks if you wanna do it right and be the best. Nope, didn't work well for me. I think my score for flinging sticks is 1 window, 2 light fixtures, 2 pictures, 1 drinking glass, a few cans of beer, and 1 ceramic chicken. Plus, I had a stick bounce off a tom and pop me in the head. I quit holding the stick like that. It was getting costly for me lol After seeing this guy drum like that, well, maybe I should have kept practicing.
Dylan Elise!!! You've got the it factor!!! I can definitely groove to this beat!!!!😝🤘
World class. He deserves every bit of praise he gets for his ability.
