Aleksandr Karelin showed his world-class at 4 different Olympic Games. He won three 🥇 in Seoul 1988, Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996. In Sydney 2000 he also won the 🥈. He is widely considered to be the greatest Greco-Roman wrestler of all time. Enjoy this video with his first Olympic bout at the Olympic Games in Seoul 1988.

I read where many wrestlers said that as soon as you put your hands on this guy you knew you were in trouble.They described him as having animal strength

You can tell by the other wrestlers reacting to him. They are moving backwards basically the whole time - same picture in some hundreds fights of Karelin that are on video. For me the most dominant athlete of all time.

@@haroldpierce1987 no it’s genetics he was 5’10 (1.79m) and weighed 79kg he towered the average humans even at 13! Men like him are born once every few centuries.
How is he not talked about in the same league as Jesse Owens or Mohammad Ali or Messi or Ronaldo! If anything, he is the most dominant athlete in the history of sports!

My own opinion is that greco-roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling are not poplar outside the Olympics compare amateur boxing and pro boxing, but that's my opinion.

It is because he is Russian. The US is never going to give russians the credit some of them deserve because of the mainy doping scandels. this guy was as dominant as Fedor in his prime imo.
Referee getting blasted off the mat at 7:15 is hilarious... even the ref was smiling afterwards.

He is smashing everything coming his way 🤩
For me, the best Olympian, ever, and maybe the most dominant athlete, ever. I know a big case can be made for Greg Louganis, Pyrros Dimas and Bolt, but What Karelin did might be a little better.

@@danwheeler1496 but at this jusian bold its 100m at f.e. 30m , .., there (at this so-called og's "sofar at least some wich are faster and at at f.e. a course with more direction chances even not less more and with lesser "flat terrain even more and without spikes even more wich are faster in at this or that course to absolvate

he did a (illegal?) wrist lock, almost aikido-like at 2:14 when the ref couldn't see to turn in the opponent's arm. very clever and skilful. hurts just watching it
this man's strength was insane, he doesn't use any flashy techniques or movement he just slams his opponents onto the mat.
Lots of great wrestlers were misjudged in Seoul against Korean wrestlers. I think they should reconsider their decision and apologize for the corrupted decisions on their soil.

Mijain Lopez is the the greatest wrestler of all time. Just won his 4 gold medal. Not even the great Karelin won 4 gold
