Could you show how you would plug it in the calculator

Hi. Can you show us how to use the calculator when solving this?

I would have loved to see how you solved for x, but its ok because I used photomath to solve it for me then checked whichever one was negative so I could eliminate it. I got the answer write though thanks to your help! thank you!

How do we know which unit to choose? Like should we always pick the one that gives us a positive?

Hey Kalie, thanks for the question - if I'm understanding you correctly, the answer is yes. When deciding which output from the quadratic equation to choose we always want to plug the value into the "E" line and make sure that the result of that calculation is a positive value - the reason is that if we plug in the value and we end up with a negative number that is in essence saying that we would have a negative concentration, which doesn't make any sense. Hopefully that is helpful for you!

to solve equilibrium composition using the calculator 1. construct ICE table 2. substitute equilibrium molarity into the equilibrium expression 3. using the desmos graphing calculator (or your preferred calculator) enter the equilibrium expression minus the equilibrium constant to get the x intercepts 4. substitute the x intercepts into the equilibrium molarity (results must be non negative)

3:38 this explaination doesn't work. Aleks is giving me a problem where the initial concentration is 0 and is -x...

Kim Jong Un yes, my method is different than the ALEKS explanation, but both work! I think my method makes more sense intuitively, and gives a better idea of what is happening in the reaction, but both methods will work just fine.

I wish Aleks accepted the intuitive answer. I want to rip my hair out. Thank you for the quick response :)
