I know the pain or being replaced, I really do, but what hurts more is the fact my ex friend was one of the best friends I've EVER had and they were forced to leave me she probably didn't consider me a best friend but it seemed she moved on so fast... I'm left here in shock months after while she is probably laughing with her friends I can't tell you how much she meant to me I would do anything for one more moment with her, I haven't moved on after months and I wont, and that's a fact I know.

Yea bro, I just lost my best friend and I'm trying to move on, whoever I join my other friend to play/talk she is always busy laughing with her other friends. Honestly, I’ve given up on trying to keep my friends, constantly clinging to them in fear that I’d lose them. Now I’m just avoiding them, have they noticed? Probably. It’s obviously because of this that my other friends have grown closer together, so I have no reason to complain about it. It may sounds selfish, but I wish they would notice that something isn’t right with me, but that’s all wishful thinking. No one will bother if I don’t make an effort, so I won’t. Same. On the first day of school they never thought of saving a spot for me. The girl who came first saved three seats for the other three girls but never for me but I didn’t think much of it but every time I turned their way I would see them all happily talking but the minute I come they stop talking like it’s a secret I shouldn’t know. This happened for a few days and I stopped going to them during breaks and lunch but they never noticed or they never cared and I think it’s the latter. It hurts so much but they’ll never know.

Ever since I first heard one of Alec Benjamin’s songs I’ve known that this man’s songs are stories. Tales that can make me feel things nothing else can. These mean a lot to me.

My best friend replaced me about last January for a group of other people. She was my only friend. And The fear of her leaving was so fucking scary Because she was the only person holding me together And when she grew distant, and began pushing me away for very clearly better people... I went into a deep state of depression. And missed over 30 days of school Because every other day I’d see her talk to the people that are so much better than me. Who know how to speak without stuttering Who are so outgoing and confident Who have absolutely none of my insecurities. I became practically mute by the end of the school year because they made me feel like I never had anything worthwhile to say. It hurts man. It hurts more than a bullet wound and if anyone here tells me I’m wrong, they haven’t witnessed their best friend of 7 years slowly, tormentingly drift away day by day until you’re the background noise in their story. I apologize for the vent. This song just- made me remember. And it hit way too close to home.

I know I'm a year late but I just wanna say, it's okay to feel down but don't let the negative emotions get to you, you're an amazing person with a lot of potential. We all have ups and downs in our lives and it's okay if you feel down, you can try to talk to your close relatives like your parents or siblings (if you have any) I'm sure they'll be willing to help you. Just remember, you're an amazing person and there will always be someone who truly cares for you.

I’ve moved on now, and have made online friends that support me and accept me way more than that person ever has. I still have bad thoughts here and there- but, I’m not as hard on myself as I was then. In a way, that experience made me much sturdier. Thank you for reminding me of this comment. Sometimes it’s good to look back on these things and see just how much one has changed since.

My friend of 11 years replaced me. I was there for her while she was going through everything. I helped her get over her ED, I helped her with her anxiety, and getting her grades back up. And she never helped me with anything. She was the sweetest girl and I just can’t comprehend how this all happened. Because she’s changed so much and I can’t believe and don’t want to believe that she would do something like that. When me and her were 4 we made a promise that we would always be there for each other. I kept it and I hope she can fix it.

This song actually hits me so hard I started literally crying. It reminds me of how me and my friends. I had to change schools when I was in 9th Grade. I was in the same school ever since my first so I'm quite attached to my friends here. However, as time passes by, despite us keeping in touch through Discord and Facebook and everything, I felt like I was no longer relevant anymore. Despite the school being in the same area, I've never got to see them at all. And even now, I still feel like I've been forgotten by the only group of people I care about. This was a comfort song of mine for a while and still is. I had a friend in 1st grade and we were close til 3rd. A new kid had been placed in here class and she became friends with them and left me out. There were more new kids after that and she ignored me after that for 2 months. When she started to talk to me again I was put into I didn't want to do. I was told to throw toys over the fence of our school and let cars run it over. It was another friend's toy that she gave me and it hurt inside and made me cry more than I used too. Watching your best friend get new friends and having a boyfriend hurts. It gives me a brief moment to think what happened to my social life why couldn’t I have done just that. Why couldn’t I be like more of my friend? I could be wrong but it’s those introvert extrovert/ ambivert friendship until another person likes them comes along. My friend gets tired of me because I don’t talk much and I don’t want to go out as much as she wants us to. I don’t talk much because I don’t have much going on around me. I only have one friend, and that’s her. She would have the tea and the experiences to share it and we would gossip about it like in secondary, but it’s not the same now since we are in two both different colleges. Now when she tells me what’s happening around her college with her friends, and where she’s planning on going with her boyfriend and bitches who used to go to our secondary school are doing, I jus feel left out. It’s hard enough to make friends in my own college because of the subject I picked, but it’s bad it’s bad when she’s go things going on her own. I just wonder is my social life ruined because of the way I was raised? Because I’m not very expressionate with her or my family. Like there’s been a delay in me. I have felt like I’ve been on freeze mode since primary school. Whilst everyone has been on fight or flight I’m just there in the present dissociating, while not having a grasp on reality I still understand it. So I kept that feeling on a shelf like I do and still go along with this friendship even though I know it’s not right and it’s not meant to be I just worry that I might be forever alone without her when I clearly know it’s not good for me. 2 weeks ago I vanished from our “chats” (we don’t really talk much, yk the typical sending reels on insta, apart from that she just spills the tea and tells me what’s going on with what’s happening around her health,cats and bf that’s it) I didn’t tell her why I just left because I had felt like that this friendship went nowhere with me and she had gone done these things without me which she could’ve done on her own, yet I couldn’t do that with myself. I had no opportunities to socialise with people who had something in common like us with our conditions and our sexuality. To be honest I know she used me to fill her lonely, she just doesn’t realise that yet. I only say this because our college schedules match unlike her bf who is in a different college (she only sees her bf every Wednesday, lol Idek y I decided to put that in) I would come over to her college lunch breaks after my classes are finished every time. I remember a time when she told me to meet her IN THE RAIN girl she was still in college TXTING HER BF if HE’S COMING OR NOT, LMFAO BISH PLS THEY WERE CONTEMPLATING IF HER BF WAS GOING TO COME TO HER COLLEGE. Girl I didn’t know what to do since I was near the area around her college where we meet all the time to have our lunch together almost ready to leave and heading to the bus stop until I decided I’m not leaving until her bf makes a fooking decision. MIND YOU IT IS RAINING, POURING BITCHES, I’m getting wet. MORE WET THAN A SOGGY DOG. Or discharge. I’m just literally waiting around until she txts me if her bf decides to come to give her company so I can leave. She gave me answer after, but me being the depressed bitch I decided to walk around the area and go to a park like a mopey whiny bitch that I am(dw it got sunny after). Ik this is long and I doubt anyone is going to see it, read it or like it. I got into description with my venting. Ik I shouldn’t apologise to ppl who have seen this but. Sorry.

School’s been hard lately, I just lost my only friend and I feel so alone 😔 I can relate to this song so much

I've had a group of friends that i cherish so much. They were my best friends. But then i moved to another school, and it hurts to see my place being taken away by some people that i don't even know. It hurts so much knowing that i don't mean much to them like how they mean to me. And now here i am having trust issue and i don't have any friend to laugh with, to tell all my problems without feeling of being judged. I'm sorry to anyone reading this but i've been keeping this for so long i had to let it out.

No one can replace no one. Literally... And now you are in a new school, you can have new friends too. It is not betrayal. There is nothing bad with havinf new friends. It is not forgetting old ones. And just you shouldn't feel so bad if they still have contact with you, but don't try too much if they don't show the same or close effort to yours. Be strong, time sometimes hurts but it also is the one which gives hope. Have a good day. ^^

I don't know why but I'm never truly comfortable with friends that i have now. I've come to believe that there's something wrong with me.

Man that was my story I moved to a new school BC of middle school but most of the people I knew went to a public school that causes many fights or a magnet school. I went to a religious private school.. But its OK because I met nice people who I would go to highschool and college with no matter what. But my best friend stephanie is moving school next year. So it will just be me and one friend now..

You won't be replaced If you try to find new friends..I know how it feels to remember best friends and good memories with them, but I'm sure that they'll always remember you , I have trust issues too, finding good friends is not easy , but you should try to talk to some people , maybe you'll be friends with them and by the time you'll be best friends! It ain't too late to try to make friends , you have a long life you won't spend it all alone!.

I totally forgot this beautiful song existed. lately I’ve been have friendship problems with my best friend for 8 years. they told me they felt uncomfortable around me and that they want to talk to others more. it hurts like hell but i think we shouldn’t be friends anymore. it’s hard to let them go but I think it’s for the best. if their reading this i would like to say I’m sorry for making you uncomfortable and I’m so sorry for being a shitty friend. I hope we can go our own ways in life and still talk to each other like responsible human beings.

I think there going to win cause they've been on a winning streak" This makes me break down. And i know that nobody will see this but im going to rant anyway. My exbest friend of ten years lived by the baseball feild. We always went to games together and got to sit on the rooftop seats. I blame myself for what happened. She was hanging out with the girl she said she hated and who bullied me. She didnt even tell it to my face. And when i found out we worked it out the days before school started. She said it was going to be fine. But the next day, she ignored me completely. Nothing was ever the same. And i havent seen her in forever. I just had to dump another toxic friend so this hits hard.

not gonna lie for me it feels like a hole in my heart that just gets bigger as time passes by

I know you won’t ever read this Alec, but if you do I want you to know that you have been my favorite artist for 3 years now. Your lyrics are so touching, intricate, and overall beautiful. You seem to be a very down to earth person and you are so talented that it cannot be expressed in any amount of words. Your voice is so gentle, calming, and genuine! My family get annoyed with me because of how much I talk about you, but I will never stop. I love you Alec and I am incredibly proud of your beautiful progress.

When I first saw the song title, I thought it was about love and breakup. But in the end, it was always about friendships....

My best guy friend just told me today that he's had a girlfriend since the beginning of this year and how he was supposed to tell me but it never crossed his mind. He started ignoring me at the end of 2019 and started talking to me again sometime in March 2020 saying he missed & was worried about me, but now he says that he's honestly happier that he has her to talk to over quarantine than nobody. Like bro I've been the person you've talked to all the time for 5 to 6 years and now I've been replaced with someone you've known for 7 months. I'm truly happy for him, but I feel horrible for feeling angry and sad

omg i'm literally in the exact same situation. i feel you. letting go ks hard, but i guess that's what we have to do..

I have very low self esteem when it comes to relationships. I am very quick to think people are annoyed by and hate me. The last summer break I asked several people to do things with me but they all didn't give a straight answer only to decline when I asked them again last minute. One of them even forgot when we had our plans and what we wanted to do. This made me so incredibly scared to reach out to any of my friends, especially since we're all busy with school rn (we're graduating in 2022) but when I don't hang out with friends I feel like everyone hates me. It's a bit of a cycle I guess. Idk, I just had to get that out.

Bro this hits so hard when your friend just stops talking to you or just doesn’t wanna be with you or talk with you.

I've been replaced too many times that I was also forced to let go of them. They defined my life, me, my everything but at some point, we all changed. Thinking back now, after all these years, I don't regret how things turned out. Nobody can stop a person from leaving if that's what they want.

Im liking before it starts because I know it’s going to be awesome.

Every word of this song... I felt it. In the beginning when things are great and you’re happy it’s easy to think you’ll have a friendship that lasts forever, but people are fickle. When they find someone better, you’ll get left behind, and you just can’t figure out where you gone wrong, or what you could have done differently to keep them in your life- to keep them interested, and that hurts. It hurts to watch a friendship you cherish so much die like that. No matter how hard you try to rekindle it, they just don’t care the same anymore.

I lost 3 best friends recently and left our friend group... me and the others promised to stick together as long as we could but we don't know what to do without those 3 best friends who were the life of the party so I took responsibility to look after one another...

Everyone here can relate to each other...we’ve been replaced by a friend or someone else...it’s sad when you lose someone you’ve know for a while and they replace or forget about you.

You know how hard to stay yourself when you know you are replaceable at everything that you are.

My best friend who I’ve been friends with since we were 2 is becoming really really close to one of my other friends, they leave me out of stuff all the time. This song is just reminding me… I can be really clingy and I just really miss her 🥺🥲

It hurts even more when, after they’ve left you crying on the bathroom floor, you realize that you loved them as more then a friend...that the ache in your chest that burns every time you breathe in and sob out is actually your heartbreaking because you lost the love of your life and not you missing them as a friend...yeah...this song makes my chest ache in a familiar way

its normal that your bestfriend is having a new friend/bestfriend.. . . . but it hurts that he/she totally forgot that you're also his/her bestfriend.. 🙂

I know slowly losing your friend isn't the same thing as being replaced but it's still a hard thing to go through. I barley have anything to remember her with besides a necklace that I'm never going to take off. I've been losing my bond with her for a year now only a few months ago she said to her mom that I overheard "She is always talking about her life and never listening to me" and I know I'm always being manipulated by her I'm just her puppet that can't escape its strings all I do is listen to her, but she doesn't care anymore about me and how I feel and I talked to her the other day but I can't get over the fact those words came out her mouth and I can't talk to her about it unless I want to lose her forever. I had this friend for 6 years and now I know how she feels it's painful I wish she'd already replace me, so I don't have to go through this pain of knowing she talks about me behind my back.

This is so sad actually made me cry and I'm 36 years old. The innocence if the boys voice.. oh my heart ..I'm glad he turned it into music 🎶 thank you

I had a bestfriend since 2nd grade. We were in a lockdown together in 3rd grade and promised each other no matter what we’d always be bestfriends. When 8th grade started we had all classes together and I was so happy. But she never talked to me. And she never wanted to sit by me or be partners. She didn’t care about me anymore and made some new friends. And I miss her so much :((

i went through this a while ago. it hurts a lot , probably more than most breakups, especially if u lost a 10+ years friendship, but u get over it with time (even if u dont know why it ended in the first place). you accept it with time and you get over it and you get better. its not that big of a deal at the end of the day ( even if it hurts like hell for a while and even if its ur childhood all time bestfriend) , the only thing that matters is to stay true to yourself and take care of yourself and be your own best friend. dont rely on anyone. because as we grow older, things and people change, nothing is stable , everyone can leave at some point, except yourself. so love yourself and live in the moment.

at first it hurts, especially when it's your best friend. One is exchanged for a new one like an old toy. and when the new toy gets boring, the old one is dug out again. I've experienced it a few times, but I ended the friendship because I didn't feel like being needed only when someone else doesn't have time. It is better to end such a friendship :)
