ALCHEMY - PHILIP SAYCE COVER BY ANDY DOVE

Been wanting to cover this wonderful Philip Sayce song for ages, so pleased to finally get round to it. I've been teaching this one with a few students recently and it gave me the perfect excuse to crack on with a cover.
I've kept it pretty faithful to Philip's original, with just a few of my own moments, really hope you like this cover. I'm using my Epiphone ES 335 Blueberry Burst (which i think you'll agree sounds incredible!) I'm mainly on the middle position on the Alnico Pro pickups, but i do change it up every now and then for a bit of tonal variation.
If you aren't familiar with Sayce's playing, he is an absolute monster, honestly one of the best contempary blues players in my opinion, he plays with such a fire and so much emotion in his bends, this song is a wonderful example of that.
I'm in Eb tuning and I have my delay set at 115 bpm for anyone interested, let me know if you enjoyed the video in the comments section, see you on the next video! 🤘🎸

Thank you so much John, really appreciate the kind words, yeah it's a beautiful song and I really enjoyed getting a recording of this one down! I know Philip is very much a strat guy, but can you believe it, I don't own a traditional single coil strat, but the ES-335 made it feel more me, glad you noticed that about playing the blues on a blue guitar too, that did cross my mind too ahaa thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment 😎🎸

Thank you ever so much Bob, absolutely loved recording this one, I know Sayce is a strat guy, but I'm more a humbucker guy, and wow doesn't it sound awesome on the ES-335, that wonderful creamy tone is my favourite for playing the blues! 💙🎸

Omg. Thank you. This is one of my favourite guitar pieces ever. My dad and I wanted to learn it together, but he's been diagnosed with dementia in the last year and can't retain the information to play it. I've not gotten around to working it out fully but I really need to, for him. Thank you. This is played perfectly and I love your little touches, like at around 3.38ish.
