Fender Hotrod Deluxe vs Peavey Classic 30

The Peavey Classic 30 and the Fender Hotrod Deluxe have been around since the 90s and still going strong. I just sold the 90s model in this review today for $300. The Hotrod Deluxe III amps are listed anywhere from 350-550 on Reverb..
Which amp do you think sounds better....? For the $$ they are both a bargain (used that is)

There just isn’t enough respect out there, for the classic 30. It is truly a great sounding amplifier. Clean or drive channels are always inspiring.😎✌️

Thanks for watching.. Totally agree. The Vintage series Carvin amps are also underrated.

I am probably going to get a Classic 50 pretty soon. I think these Peaveys are a great, great value. Super is out of my reach or I would have another one I like your channel, subbed!

Hey Roger. Thanks for watching! I’m also a Peavey fan. Gigged with one for years back in the 90s. I also had a Super that I wish I hadn’t sold. Oh well lol. The old Carvin Vintage series amps are also great and underrated. I checked out your channel and will subscribe. I like your playing style and tone. Very cool. Take Care

Peavey classic 30 is for me a must have. The sound is amazing, less bright than the Fender with a progressive volume which is not the case with the Fender. Crunch and saturated are way better in my personal opinion.

Thanks for watching. I have to agree. If I had to pick one over the other for a gig it would be the Peavey..

I have both. But the Peavey gets the most use. My son also prefers the Peavey

Fantastic demo! I have a classic 50 and a classic 30. And I just ordered a hot rod deluxe iii fsr. I haven't gotten it yet but I can't wait to play then side by side. I have been almost ready to pull the trigger and on a twin reverb or Princeton reverb. Price isn't an issue... I just want the best tone that fits my playing style... and for some reason I always prefer the time of the Peavey classic amps. But my classic 30 is quite loud when I put it on... and just sitting without being played... and I get some unwanted buzzing when hitting certain frequencies. So I thought I'd get something else... even though side from the annoying noises I love the amp tone. I just play clean 99 percent of the time so I notice it more. Maybe I can get rid of the noise but I've already spent to much money at the shop on it and don't want to spend more. And I found a used hot rod iii fsr model in good condition for only $279... so thought I'd give it a shot. I have played then before and the attack or presence seems softer than on the Peavey and they sound a bit more compressed clean... but again I haven't spent enough time playing them side by side... I guess I'll find out soon. For some reason I prefer the fuller, brassier tone of the hot rod to the twin reverb, deluxe reverb, or Princeton... though those amps I think are good for cutting through the mix in a band setting... but alone not really my thing... missing to many frequencies...

That's a great price for the Hotrod.. I bet you will like it. It's really a lot of amp for a little money. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comments..

Your playing makes both sound good! I didn't expect to prefer the Peavey given the HRD's reputation for cleans but the Peavey to me had a little bit more character. Just something about it. Thanks!

Hi!... Thanks for watching. I have to agree with you. The Fender sounds quite good but for me the Peavey has a tighter feel to it.

I have an HRD III and a Delta Blues 115. Pulled the delta out of the closet yesterday and holy smokes, what a great amp! I was gonna sell it, but I may just have to keep it

Ah yes... The Delta Blues is a great amp. I giged with a Classic 30 back in the 90s and it covered a lot of territory tone wise.

@@BluesgtarI just finished fixing up a usa-made peavey fury bass from the mid-'90s, it plays great and was a killer value at a little over $200...and playing it through a '78 peavey mark iii bass head I got at a pawn shop for $100! Old peavey gear is solid

Very nice playing. To my rock-n-roll-damaged ears, the Fender sounds a bit muffled compared to the Peavey, at least in this video, so I prefer the Peavey. Does the Fender have more headroom than the Peavey? It sounds to me like the HRD might need to get louder to really open up and show us what she's capable of.

Hello and thanks for watching.. Both amps have plenty of headroom for live performance. I gigged with a Classic 30 with a 12" ext cab for a few years back in the 90s. I was able to cover a wide range of classic rock without any pedals which is why I chose the Peavey over the Blues Deluxe which is similar to the Hot Rod Deluxe. I like The reverb and cleans on the Fender but the Peavey drive channel is much better in my opinion. Both amps are a bargain in the used market. Take care / Don
