Albert Einstein College of Medicine Announces Free Tuition in Perpetuity for its Medical Students

Ғылым және технология

Dr. Philip Ozuah, President and CEO of Montefiore Einstein, the umbrella organization for Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Health System, today announced that Albert Einstein College of Medicine has received a transformational gift from Ruth L. Gottesman, Ed.D., Chair of the Einstein Board of Trustees and Montefiore Health System board member. This historic gift - the largest made to any medical school in the country - will ensure that no student at Einstein will have to pay tuition again.
“This donation radically revolutionizes our ability to continue attracting students who are committed to our mission, not just those who can afford it. Additionally, it will free up and lift our students, enabling them to pursue projects and ideas that might otherwise be prohibitive. We will be reminded of the legacy this historic gift represents each spring as we send another diverse class of physicians out across the Bronx and around the world to provide compassionate care and transform their communities,” said Dr. Yaron Tomer, the Marilyn and Stanley Katz Dean at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Incredible!!! I read somewhere else that this lady gave 1 billion dollars to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, so they can now offer free tuition in perpetuity for its Medical students. I'm so happy for them and for those who will be able to study medicine with her generosity.

Yes, it's just difficult. Most millionaires don't think like that. She did not make the money, her husband did, and before dying told her "do with this money what you think is right" She, a university professor herself, understood the importance, but she, precisely because of that, was not in the stock exchange making money under the shadow of Warren Buffett.

It happens more often than you think. You have to be very careful what and who you're donating to. Hand-outs like this can cripple more than help psychologically and culturally, one example would be the Native American population. They can pretty much live for free in America, they can go to any school with a full ride, they recieve something like $1k every week from casino revenue, they have financial help for housing. The Native American tribes that accept these handouts are doing worse than those who who refused them. Drugs, unemployment, debt and stagnation are what they deal with now and sociologists can only speculate why they and their community don't do more to get themselves out of these situations when they're literally handed every opportunity. Even Jeff Bezos has donated a total of $3b, his ex-wife donated $17b, I'm sure it helped lots of people, but it doesn't fix the underlying problem that created the need to donate in the first place.

Sadly, she, a primitive without conscience, has had a privileged life. Right now, some of her students are tortured by Hamas. Many Jews, not only in Israel, are under attack and face an existential threat, homelessness and hunger. At the same university, children of poor immigrants are trying to have the education that their families care about and couldn't have elsewhere - Jewish- often with great sacrifices. After graduation, many will face unemployment or underemployment and low salaries if employed. For her, obviously, they are not human and don't deserve any help. So she is gaining more personal fame by showering people she knows nothing about and most of whom have basically a promised good life, with money she never earned. As someone said "a pro###tude is a pro###tude is a pro###tide. Without any exaggeration - this (after October 7th!!!!!!) - is a terrifying monstrosity. dr anna

Wow, what a positive ripple effect that this will cause for the students, and all those coming as this is the way to go cause when we die, we don't go and get buried with any of our wealth, but this students are sure going to pray for her and wish her and her family well for this gracious act as they become nurses and doctors.

So sweet she saw them all as students and gave away a third of her assets, that’s why they should appreciate the background of Albert Einstein and Ruth Gottesman’s Juda lineage and shows the difference just one can make, others may be supporting versa with the intent of converting and expecting many others just seeing it as a break and forget, that’s why these medical titles make no difference and about the spirit, it’s hard not to compare with the current news of this region.

So this is what it looks like when you no longer have to work the hardest you've ever worked in your life, to work the hardest of your life for all of your life, to pay off a debt that you'll never clear with all the hard work you'll do throughout your life.
