Went there on a school tour, early 70s. Aged maybe 10, 11. Saw the sharks taking chunks from the whales tied alongside. Stunk to high hell then. Went back on holidays late 80s. Still stunk to high hell.

It still stinks. It permeated into everything, so I doubt it will ever disappear.

Thanks for the 3 part vid bro... This is gold. I have a sperm whales tooth from Albany station from about mid 1960... Went to check the station out last year. Bloody great tour but shit those vats stunk....

Went there last week, now they have exhibits and theatres inside the tanks

There were guys that had the job of catching the sharks that would tear the whales up. Some of the largest white pointers ever caught were landed around there. I saw the whaling station in action when i was a little kid. I used to have nightmares about falling into the boilers where the chunks of blubber were dropped

There is glass float on display in the museum, that was inside th3 stomach of Great White caught out there. They were massive sharks from what I can gather.
