Great videos as always. I love how these small railroads tie into the micro economies of the state. The pastoral feel of a less harried environment is refreshing and awe aspiring. Thank you for the look into a simpler railroading time.

Couldn’t say it any better! It’s the story of our communities and industries! And it feels like a preservation of days past. I’m not excited for flying cars and an ultra technical society, void of big machines and roads.

I enjoyed going for the ride today very much, Jeremy. There is for me a peace and serenity that overshadows all difficulty or problems, and the simplicity just that! I enjoy the ride because I know these are highly competent people. My faith is in the One who watches out for them, so good comes from good and the Trains Roll On! Hope I made a little sense. It's a nature drive with REALLY HUGE means of travel! I'm honored to be invited aboard, and watch the ride in the company of the Lord. My best to you folks!

The folks who live by Eddyville siding hated it when someone set cars out in front of their house. The folks would come out and yell at us and (I think) even figured out who to call. Always leave a couple cars of room at the west end so their view was not blocked. Nice video, Jeremy! Heck, why not another story: We were told to pick up the cars at Eddyville. It was Labor Day and we arrived there about 5 pm, back in the day that this was still Hwy 20. My conductor understood to not block the crossing any longer than necessary but the crossing gates malfunctioned down. We pulled the siding and cleared the crossing but the gates didn't clear. My poor conductor did her best to raise the gates by hand to move traffic. I was west far enough that I could see the traffic backed up for more than a mile on the highway. She put the train back together, got on the side of a car and rode it west a ways to do the air test.

Lou, what a super appropriate story as this is Labor Day! People always get mad at the train crews-as if we enjoy blocking people. It’s usually much the opposite! And how funny that people would get upset with the sight of train cars when they bought a house with THE TRACKS in their front yard!! 😂 Admittedly, getting shots along the old highway portions, is FAR easier today! Although I believe it has led to a slight downturn in car numbers as trucks may have chipped into those numbers.

I really enjoy seeing this trackage of the Toledo Branch, territory seldom shown to those of us that are interested in railway activity in Oregon and the northwest. Thank you much for producing this content! Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon)

I'm surprised to finally see 3549 and 2152 being used as a leading units on the Toledo hauler instead of trailing units, they're my favorites since they have the cleanest paint jobs!

Hey, Jeremy! Wow, what a nice assembly of videos! The shot of the locomotives rounding the curve at Summit with their sanders on was fantastic, and there aren't many sounds I like more than EMD 645s at notch 8. It takes a bunch of power to lift 9,000 tons 750 vertical feet, and a bunch more power to overcome the flange drag on all those curves. I've wondered if SP ever installed flange greasers anywhere on that line. Any idea? Again, great work, Jeremy!

I’ve been trying to get to places I’ve never been to on the branch; it’s been like rediscovering the line! The lack of speed is made up for by locomotives effort and tough terrain. I’m glad folks enjoy the results! Thanks friend!

I miss the old Black widow of Willamette and Pacific, the orange and yellow of G&W is harsh. 3/4 are GP38 which are roots blown not turbocharged. GP39, 40 and all 710 engines are turbocharged

I’m glad you asked! The next part goes into the engines and rolling stock. But it’s simply a “slug” unit drawing current from surplus current produced by another locomotive. I’ll get into more detail soon. Thanks!

Thanks; yeah, the old 20mph speeds would have been a little more exciting, but for folks who miss the lines that are gone forever, it’s just nice to see the trains at all! If it means they can keep the line open.
